Rick Waren is a leader of great courage in the spiritual world, its only the uninformed and those who are still in darkness, dont know that Rick Warren reveled the true name of the eternal son of Elyon. I suggest we do some extensive research to fine out, if he is making this name of Yeshua up.and let the chips fall where they may.
I clap for Rick Warren's courage to say GOD despite the other archbishops and many others opposition. Our foundation and our founding fathers hope for our future still lives.
I guess even though we don't agree about many things Obama wants we should accept and support our new president and I am . We must pray that God will change his heart and take the steps in His direction.
im not trying to hate on Rick but it seems to me like he was reading that prayer Me personally i think some other minister reverend pastor or some other religious leader could have done better coming from their heart
Dr. King and a great cloud of witnesses are shouting in heaven Here is a president that supports abortion and heaven is excited about this? The Bible teaches that Jesus is King and those who would rule under Him must rule as he rules. The prophets of old would have rebuked Barak as John the Baptist rebuked Herod by telling him that what he was doing was not lawful. We need real "justice" for all. Heaven does not rejoice over wickedness but righteousness.
not everyone believes the bible...why do you bible thumpers have the assumption..that YOUR way of thinking is the only way that can possibly be right?...You can have your opinion..sure...but the rest of the world doesnt need it shoved down our throats...even you bible thumpers only follow the parts of the bible that make your own lives more convenient...so shut it!
Obviously the replies have been by Christians to a Christian leader. I think that if you are interested in Christians that believe the whole Bible you should read Calvin, Bahnsen and other reformed thinkers. However, your comment on "child molester" shows that your objections to Christianity are based on hatred rather than seeking truth.
Your "Christian President" and I use the term lightly, is the one who this is all for. He is the one who authorized the $100 million plus ceremony. Remember Bush=christian...bad. Obama=christian...good and acceptable. You should at least rejoice that Obama is not happy with just destroying the future US Democratic voter base through abortion. He his now allowing US tax dollars to go to other nations to do the same. I suppose that is a better purpose for tax payer money though.
I honestly didn't like either of the candidates this time around, I just didn't like McCain even more. Taxpayer money funding religious ceremonies is unconstitutional, taxpayer money funding abortion may have its uses.
Christianity "aborted" Planet Earth a long time ago, along with every other stupidity, including Humanism. At least the Humanists don't talk to ghosts who never talk back. And what what would want to hear this sleeping pill of a speech?
Well, Rick is not like a lot of the televangelists out there. He lives in a modest home and gives back 90% of his income to the church and charity. 90 PERCENT. Even if you disagree with him, he sets a good example.
Will take your word for Rick Warren's lifestyle. But, Christians could give to "charity" without building and maintaining churches, going on tv, doing missionary work, etc.
Bells and whistles are not, have never been necessary. Do good things, be kind to children, animals and trees because those things are right irrespective of what some god thinks.
The god didn't say anything. People direct the gods to say what they, the people want, not the reverse.
Rick Warren's prayer 'I humbly ask this in the name of the one who changed my life ...'
"I humbly ask this in the name of the one who changed my life ..."
Needless to say, the name David Rockefellor would most appropriately have finished off the sentence. Rick Warren, member in good standing of the treasonous Council on Foreign Relations, is a total out and out fraud. The ultimate wolf in sheep's clothing.
I do think it was somewhat of a speech. I still think it was beautifully done. I do not remember hearing anything that he said that had to do with being gay. What did that have to do with his prayer yesterday?
It sounds like a speech due to its pre-approval. I have heard this guy before and he sounded true to himself...He's an honest guy and Obama is the one who chose him...It would be an honor to say a prayer at the presidential inauguration.
Of course it sounds like a speech. Everything that everyone involved did yesterday was planned and rehearsed for days if not weeks/months ahead. The thing that impressed me was that he asked in JESUS NAME which was much more than any of those other spineless, politically correct people who obviously planned for the day and chose not to.
I am so proud of Pastor Warren for having integrity and praying in a way that is true to his beliefs. That's the beauty of America. We have the freedom to believe and practice our spirituality as we see fit...or not practice it. I didn't vote for Obama and we differ on many beliefs, but I will pray for him and hope the best for him and his administration. He is my president and I care about his success and well being.
Lets take the Bible Belt for an example. It consists of states which boast the highest crime/homicide rates, the highest teenage birth rates, the highest poverty rates & the highest obesity/poor health rates. - Go to the North East, where religion is much much less apparent in daily life & you find they rank the best & better than the Bible Belt in virtually all possible ways.
Go to the most secular/least religious nations - & you find the same. - these are not disputable facts either.
Rick Warren Anti Abortion Anti gay and believes all those that do not believe in jesus burn in hell. This is change? This is hope? This is who Obama choose as his spiritual leader? Any liberal that voted for Obama is a hypocrite !
John Adams, 2nd President and signer of the Declaration of Independence warned:
"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
He also counseled:
"The people have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge - I mean of the character and conduct of their rulers." Our very Constitution is threatened when we permit immoral conduct by our leaders.
Lets be honest now - I could show more than a few quotes in which one could take as Anti-Christianity/Established Religion by John Adams.
Example....
"As I understand the Christian religion, it was, and is, a revelation. But how has it happened that millions of fables, tales, legends, have been blended with both Jewish and Christian revelation that have made them the most bloody religion that ever existed?"
-- John Adams, letter to FA Van der Kamp, December 27, 1816
Obviously holsy33 considers non-Christians just as much a part of the America that Rick Warren thinks he's describing with all his Christian language.
The name of Isa? Isa means Jesus (yes, in Arabic, but "Jesus" is just as much of a divergent translation from the Ancient Hebrew Yeshua as "Isa" is, so what gives? Rick Warren hates Muslims anyway).
Anyway, to pray to Jesus or "Isa" is a Christian expression. That's what I meant by Christian "language," I didn't mean his dialect.
So you think he isn't Christian? Are you one of those "true Christian" Jehovah's Witness types? If so, don't act so high and mighty because all religions are false.
Well, Christians don't use Isa, muslims do... He was trying to appease the muslims, he is very unitarian. I am not judgemental towards Rick Warren, but I do believe that he is not
President Obama invited Pastor Rick Warren to give this prayer. Are we not insulting President Obama when we show disrespect to Warren whom has been approved by the President? Warren and Obama both respect one another. While they don't see eye to eye on everything they have chosen wisely to be united by what they agree on.
Can we not stand for what we believe and still show you love? Can we stand for what we believe without hating, but rather loving those who disagree?
Reread what you've written and then say it is people like him that makes you look ignorant. It looks like you did a fine job of pointing that out yourself.
Lol! Actually I think I did a fine job pointing out what an ignorant pig he is the first time. It's really no secret. But thanks for your input. I'm not about self censorship.
oh okay, you must know him personally? I doubt you do. Do you know him at a distant level? I doubt you do. This man is a man of God, a man of integrity. I won't waste any more words on your ignorance. Everyone will stand before God and be judged for himself.
Seriously, do you guys buy this? Who cares what people do in the privacy of their own home and with their own bodies. This is a secular nation, we do not make legal decisions based on your personal theological views.
I don't even see why we, as a secular nation, even have a prayer at a government event such as the inauguration. They also chose one of the worst bigots to deliver the prayer.
The issue with our nation is the secularism...please look to our founding fathers, the declaration of independence "with firm reliance on the protection of divine providence" or how about samuel adams in a speech to the continental congress july 4 1776 "we have this day restored the Soverign, to Whom alone men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven and...from the rising to the setting sun, may His Kingdom come."Our nation was founded on Christianity and God is the only one that can fix it
It's actually likely for the purpose of "winning over" the attention of those in this country who "claim" to be Christians but don't read the Bible. It will come into play a little later when the one world church gathers and draws people's attention away from what they should really be paying attention to, to deceive those who don't know any better. Matthew7:15
I'm wrong about him, then? He was not the one who put so much energy into denying gays the right to marry? To say that one group should have less rights than another group is bigotry. I don't hate him. That would be unChristian and I am a good Christian.
As a "good" Christian you believe the Bible to be the infallible word of God, right? If so, then you believe that practicing homosexuality is a sin and an abomination against Gods word. If rick Warren is opposed to something that he has CONVICTION about, as any practicing Christian should have on the matter of homosexuality, then why would you be opposed to him based on something a real Christian should agree with him on?
A real Christian???? Christians should beleive a certain way.... if not they are not Christians? Interesting view. I wonder what God would say about judging others?
You are correct, a real Christian should believe a certain way...that Christ alone is the only way to the Father. And as for judging others I'm not sure what you are talking about. I ended my remark with a question mark, not a period. A question mark means that it is a question, a period means it is a statment. So how can I be judging others by asking a question? Are you so perfect that you have never judged others?
Question: excluding the right to homosexual marriage, what other rights have been stripped from you, as a homosexual? Are you generally denied the right to work? Do you have to use separate bathroom facilities compared to heterosexuals, or are you damned to using a separate water fountain as compared to heterosexuals?
Are you forbidden by law to an equal education, or equal housing? Are you disallowed the right to assembly, the right of free speech?
Can't serve in the military. Several states still enforce "sodomy laws" that basically make it a crime to be gay. States have denied gays adoptions, in part through the same process as California's Prop Hate, the initiative process. Cool?
Well actually, I'd like to engage in a brief debate with the issue of adoption. I've been looking that issue up a little bit, and one argument supporting that decision is the adoption of children by homosexuals is a "backdoor to homosexual marriage".
Mike, I imagine that the same folks oppose both. Please remember, people don't "decide" to be gay. Who would choose such a difficult path? Not nearly as hard today as years past, but still....
The same sex couples who want to get married are in love. Many had been in relationships for many years. If you remember that marriage is a bond between people who want to spend their lives together - not a crazy sex rampage, as straights do - you may get close to understanding their perspective.
Then they are not gay, illculture. They are bi. And you're talking about sex, not marriage. Do those people you're talking about want to marry a person of the same sex? Probably not, eh?
Rights are God given. It's not my "viewpoint" that gay people should have rights. The hypocrisy of you so-called Christians who would deny people rights calling those who would stand up to your tyranny "intolerant" is sad. Don't look for hypocrisy in others - you've got plenty.
OK, I would LOVE to hear why identifying a person's behavior, remember he thinks gays = child molesters, makes my behavior the same as theirs. This could be good. bgbreakdown is a bigot because: _____________. Bear in mind that I never casued this guy harm while he has gone out of his way to do so to my community. I would never speak ill of someone's pastor, unless he was out there causing mischief and spreading hate.
I can't feel his heart in this. arrogance and ego, yes. he's got too much attention on himself and his performance and thus misses the divine connection. Lowery gets it.
I completely agree w/you. This "prayer" sounds more like a political speech than a heart felt, direct appeal to God for the blessings on a nation and for the guidance of the new President. I feel like he totally missed the mark in this prayer. It wasn`t a prayer. It was a poorly written speech.

A real Christian???? Christians should beleive a certain way.... if not they are not Christians? Interesting view. I wonder what God would say about judging others?
gelso1515 3 years ago
You are correct, a real Christian should believe a certain way...that Christ alone is the only way to the Father. And as for judging others I'm not sure what you are talking about. I ended my remark with a question mark, not a period. A question mark means that it is a question, a period means it is a statment. So how can I be judging others by asking a question? Are you so perfect that you have never judged others?

read the bible and find out for yourself, the answer is in there

Question: excluding the right to homosexual marriage, what other rights have been stripped from you, as a homosexual? Are you generally denied the right to work? Do you have to use separate bathroom facilities compared to heterosexuals, or are you damned to using a separate water fountain as compared to heterosexuals?
Are you forbidden by law to an equal education, or equal housing? Are you disallowed the right to assembly, the right of free speech?
mike50333 3 years ago
When you're hindered in these rights by law, then you have a perfectly legitimate reason to scream "civil injustice".
mike50333 3 years ago
Can't serve in the military. Several states still enforce "sodomy laws" that basically make it a crime to be gay. States have denied gays adoptions, in part through the same process as California's Prop Hate, the initiative process. Cool?
bgbreakdown 3 years ago
...Yup.
mike50333 3 years ago
Well actually, I'd like to engage in a brief debate with the issue of adoption. I've been looking that issue up a little bit, and one argument supporting that decision is the adoption of children by homosexuals is a "backdoor to homosexual marriage".
mike50333 3 years ago
Without ranting about how you should have gay marriage rights, how would you respond to this?
(I probably already know the answer, but I'd still like to know).
mike50333 3 years ago
Mike, I imagine that the same folks oppose both. Please remember, people don't "decide" to be gay. Who would choose such a difficult path? Not nearly as hard today as years past, but still....
The same sex couples who want to get married are in love. Many had been in relationships for many years. If you remember that marriage is a bond between people who want to spend their lives together - not a crazy sex rampage, as straights do - you may get close to understanding their perspective.

people choose to be gay all the time. I know people that change their orientation like they change their clothes.
Illculture 3 years ago
Then they are not gay, illculture. They are bi. And you're talking about sex, not marriage. Do those people you're talking about want to marry a person of the same sex? Probably not, eh?
bgbreakdown 3 years ago
OH so tolerant I see. Only your viewpoint is the correct one?
Carol0522 3 years ago
Rights are God given. It's not my "viewpoint" that gay people should have rights. The hypocrisy of you so-called Christians who would deny people rights calling those who would stand up to your tyranny "intolerant" is sad. Don't look for hypocrisy in others - you've got plenty.

Yes indeed a low point in a great event!
Why did HBO air this and why did the microphones work here and not at Gene Robinson speech, coincidence??
orgay3 3 years ago
why do you take the time to even criticize what so many believe in?
cthreadgill 3 years ago
I guess Im following Martin Luther Kings example.

Gene Robinson's the gay Bishop, right?
Wasn't he supposed to have a role in the primary inaugurate events? What happened?
mike50333 3 years ago
To call someone a bigot is only to say you yourself are one

agreed

OK, I would LOVE to hear why identifying a person's behavior, remember he thinks gays = child molesters, makes my behavior the same as theirs. This could be good. bgbreakdown is a bigot because: _____________. Bear in mind that I never casued this guy harm while he has gone out of his way to do so to my community. I would never speak ill of someone's pastor, unless he was out there causing mischief and spreading hate.

I can't feel his heart in this. arrogance and ego, yes. he's got too much attention on himself and his performance and thus misses the divine connection. Lowery gets it.

Is Lowry the older black guy that made a rhyme from his prayer and spoke all the gibberish? Is that is getting it?
BOINKINU 3 years ago
I completely agree w/you. This "prayer" sounds more like a political speech than a heart felt, direct appeal to God for the blessings on a nation and for the guidance of the new President. I feel like he totally missed the mark in this prayer. It wasn`t a prayer. It was a poorly written speech.
