Is it possible to install a midi port on a pt87 ? i inherited one from a very good friend, and it would make it mega usefull if i could mod it to have a midi out , and run it into a korg triton
Please, release the schemas on how to do this bending!!! Every Casio & DIY Electronics fan will be very happy.
Yesterday, I added a minijack to my PT-87 (an introductory 'hack'), and I was guessing how to do more nice stuff to it when I come across this... Man, I have to do it!! :D
@jenchemiette yes I agree, while I like noise tracks as a buffer between more directed work, I like it too when I can hear more "human intensions", like melody and rythms behind the circuit bended craft, here is a fine exmaple I think.
Do you realise you can't use the cartridge slot now in that keyboard because of the controls you installed? Nice Jam session, I'm not the biggest fan of circuit bending, but whatever?
I just snatched a Casio PT-87 at Slavers myself :) Your video was the first thing I found from a google search for bends on it. Mad props brutha'. ill video
wow man... that is what I am talking about!!! problem with curcuit bending is that often not enough brain is put into it... in the sense that it just becomes a person pushing any button on a circuit bent machine.... its more a noise experience than a melodic one (not that it's bad... but it gets repetitive real quick in spite of the different sounds and machines you bend).
The person has to dominate his machine, has to impose his will of expression on it. You have done this in high fashion :)
I want to use a joystick, but I think taking the springs out of it so it can stay in a set position would be nice - not sure if the NES advantage joystick can do that though.
i have some old sinclair tapes. they sound great on a tape player, would make a perfect backloop to a piece of circuit bend music! maybe one could circiut bend a tape player with a sinclair tape in it :D
Nice jam. Good to hear something melodious coming from circuit bent gear for a change. I know that circuitbending and noise go together like PB&J but I do tire of it.
i watched this a few months ago when i had just discovered what circuit bending, and stuff was and didnt really like it all that much. "it" being the jam session at the end.
i stumbled back across it today, and took another listen and really enjoyed it this time around. it really makes me want to get a soldering iron and just start going nuts on stuff.
This was one of the best curcuit bending videos I have seen! Nice jam session! when you first started playing it reminded me of this stop motion video "Toni vs. Paul" do a search for that video on here and you will see what I'm talking about! But you gotta listen at the end of the video! Without the drums!
very good use of bending. i have a question, if i got the same keyboard, and soldered the exact same mods, would it do the exact same things? or is it all by chance?
nice. i have a realistic 200 but i have not learned to circuit bend yet, i need to read up on it. i'm interested to see what kind of sounds i can sample on to ableton.
By the way, what pedals and looper are you using? I am an aspiring experimental musician, and am hoping to find some things I've seen other places that you've used here.
haha ur cat got in the mix too lol i sw him running under neith u lol werd i rember u telling us taht too lol kitty ! i got reason 4 iam learing electronic stuff too ur evil bro lol good ideas!!
dude... Circuit bending is sounding less and less chaotic as time goes by. I blame YouTube and the webbz in general for spreading the love and knowledge.
Man, that was one of the best uses of circuit bending i've seen so far. It's a break from the experimental noise music that you usually see using this kind of gear.
Very creative. I'm just not starting to get into this style of music. I've been trying to make conventional music on my computer for about 7 years now and I'm just starting to realize that I should have just been doing this type of stuff the whole time. BTW, what the hell was that runing accross your floor at 5:39 ?
Thats AMAZING MAN!!!...Super Creative!!...Your Loops are SUper Cool!!.....You said an NES Advantage Controller?, Did you hook it to any power to get signals from it?..My Bent Pss190 only makes Noise right now!...
Make the pitch bends in there a little less dominating and add some more atmospherical sounds and uve got me hooked. _love_ the end tho. Thats the real art piece!
Honestly, this is the best circuit bent track I've heard. Most others who are into bending just make a bunch of noise ... and I'm not really into that, more into the grimy melodies and such ... like this. Superb job.
i think the jam is proof that, with the right amount of ingenuity, even the things people dont normally use after a certain period of time can be re-used into something beautiful
That song was an inspirational example of how these instruments can be used! Too many people just make noise, not music. And are those Casio vl-1 and SA-20 I see? That's a nice palette of sounds you have in that suitcase.
ok, i have read many of the comments here. nd simply must stade that, yes assuming he created all the modifications, then he is a fucking jenious. but he has no musical skilz at all.... realy, i had to stop 30-60secconds through ur jam session... that equipment in the right hands, very nice modifications
I have recived a private responce from otemrellik:
