  • Is it possible to install a midi port on a pt87 ? i inherited one from a very good friend, and it would make it mega usefull if i could mod it to have a midi out , and run it into a korg triton

  • @Batsinthebelltower Ummm...I don't really know. It's probably possible. I've never done anything like that though.

  • This is a "closed" video. =p

  • nice noises btw. i fuckig love sound. all the textures. sound is a mysterious thing to me. cant see it but.... i hear it, whatever that is

  • then he comes back

  • i saw at 5.16ish the cat making a run for it haha

  • This kind of stuff makes me want to keep circuit bending. You're practically piloting an alien spacecraft.

I just updated the description with a photo.

  • @otemrellik thank you very much for the reply, sent you an email bro

  • You rock!!!

Please, release the schemas on how to do this bending!!! Every Casio & DIY Electronics fan will be very happy.

Yesterday, I added a minijack to my PT-87 (an introductory 'hack'), and I was guessing how to do more nice stuff to it when I come across this... Man, I have to do it!! :D

  • Killer - good use of bending .... not just noise for the sake of noise.

  • @jenchemiette yes I agree, while I like noise tracks as a buffer between more directed work, I like it too when I can hear more "human intensions", like melody and rythms behind the circuit bended craft, here is a fine exmaple I think.

  • well job

  • 1:10 .... shit bricks... THX theme anyone?

  • cool jam, man. nice work.

  • Do you realise you can't use the cartridge slot now in that keyboard because of the controls you installed? Nice Jam session, I'm not the biggest fan of circuit bending, but whatever?

  • @Lachlant1984 cartridge slots are played out. this video is 4 years old. we were all younger then.

  • do you sell any of this stuff?

  • @1devo6587 yeah, I don't have much up right now. I'll hopefully be making some more things soon. deadspacevolume (dot) com

  • woooo sick dude! you just made a fucking cool synth out of it haha

  • I just snatched a Casio PT-87 at Slavers myself :) Your video was the first thing I found from a google search for bends on it. Mad props brutha'. ill video

  • freaking awsome

  • wow. this is awesome... did you use an 1799 for pitch-shifting or just replaced a trimpot or resistor with a pot?

    cool upload!

  • What do you do for a living?

  • @LIGHTRONIX I used to be a janitor now im a web developer.

  • Amazing work you did there.

  • tonality is boring

  • wow man... that is what I am talking about!!! problem with curcuit bending is that often not enough brain is put into it... in the sense that it just becomes a person pushing any button on a circuit bent machine.... its more a noise experience than a melodic one (not that it's bad... but it gets repetitive real quick in spite of the different sounds and machines you bend).

The person has to dominate his machine, has to impose his will of expression on it. You have done this in high fashion :)

  • nice cat.

  • Great video, great stuff you made there :)

  • I want to use a joystick, but I think taking the springs out of it so it can stay in a set position would be nice - not sure if the NES advantage joystick can do that though.

  • I NEED THIS!

  • i have some old sinclair tapes. they sound great on a tape player, would make a perfect backloop to a piece of circuit bend music! maybe one could circiut bend a tape player with a sinclair tape in it :D

  • CAT! (i think) at 5:37

  • This could actually be used in dubstep... you could do some live dubstep d-jing with that

  • Nice jam. Good to hear something melodious coming from circuit bent gear for a change. I know that circuitbending and noise go together like PB&J but I do tire of it.

  • i watched this a few months ago when i had just discovered what circuit bending, and stuff was and didnt really like it all that much. "it" being the jam session at the end.

i stumbled back across it today, and took another listen and really enjoyed it this time around. it really makes me want to get a soldering iron and just start going nuts on stuff.

  • VERY cool, how long did it take to make that?

  • This was one of the best curcuit bending videos I have seen! Nice jam session! when you first started playing it reminded me of this stop motion video "Toni vs. Paul" do a search for that video on here and you will see what I'm talking about! But you gotta listen at the end of the video! Without the drums!

  • cool bending man

  • notice the cat/dog run away then run back?

  • @styruphoum

Music IS noise, actually ;) Noise that humans like, but noise after all.

  • very good use of bending. i have a question, if i got the same keyboard, and soldered the exact same mods, would it do the exact same things? or is it all by chance?

  • wtf is that in the top right at 5:47?

what kind of keyboard is that behind the PT-87. i think i have one lying around.

  • @AFilthyIbis Casio VL-tone/VL-1

  • fuckn dope

  • WTF this vid actually has dislikes??? How can you not love this guy?!?!?

  • hehe your funny, and sexy! tickle that ivory!

  • Very nice. Reminds me of some of the better work of Acid Mothers Temple.

  • Awesome! I swear I heard that song On the Ambience station of Itunes. No joking!

  • Sounds great, what are those effects, the reverb looks like a Danelectro

  • 1:23 sounds like a dial up

  • @figaro589

being able to remember dial up makes me feel old......

  • briliant :D

  • lol noise is noise, when you decide that its music, it becomes music, not noise

  • So raw yet so beautiful. Well done, man :3

I tried circuit bending a nintendo miracle keyboard but I fried it with the oscilloscope :(

  • you don't know much music then

  • nice. i have a realistic 200 but i have not learned to circuit bend yet, i need to read up on it. i'm interested to see what kind of sounds i can sample on to ableton.

  • awesome job!

  • fuckin awesome man

  • You sound like crystal towers poking out of the sand. I love this.

  • 437 too

  • Love that anti-melody sound

  • soooo damn cool

  • Cat sighting at 5:39.

  • thank you for the hard work, cat patrol

  • Sure it was a cat?

  • the music sounds amazing... i feel "thank" to you for creating this

  • Yess man ! Ça arrache un max !

  • By the way, what pedals and looper are you using? I am an aspiring experimental musician, and am hoping to find some things I've seen other places that you've used here.

  • Beautiful. Favorite circuit bend video I think I've ever seen, you have a really good setup.

  • Four stars Nice work

  • that could be a nice industrial rock instrument... i love circuit bending... but all i do is so random...

  • very nice

  • dude do you make these things? I would so buy one

  • haha ur cat got in the mix too lol i sw him running under neith u lol werd i rember u telling us taht too lol kitty ! i got reason 4 iam learing electronic stuff too ur evil bro lol good ideas!!

  • Wow you sacrificed your NES Advantage!!

  • doubt its much of an advantage now ¬_¬

  • Gr8!*****

  • this is brilliant - i'm going to have to get myslef a ciruit bent synth, or keyboard at some point

    :D

  • Dude, this is absolutely amazing keep up the good work. It's surprisingly relaxing.

  • lol 0:52

  • Dude...wow. I really dont know what else to say, very very nicely done art I am poking around in myself.

  • love the jam session at the end sir!

  • dude... Circuit bending is sounding less and less chaotic as time goes by. I blame YouTube and the webbz in general for spreading the love and knowledge.

This is amazing. I'd pay 30$ to see this live.

  • simply amazing.

  • neat-my bro in law and myself do a lil bending as well-

    kewl

    dd

  • Enjoyed the jam session. Very asian sounding.

  • frik man, good work.

  • Where do I get one?

  • Excellente Jam session! Suis sur le cul!! GG

  • That's it. I'm learning piano.

  • bellissimo!!!!

  • Man, that was one of the best uses of circuit bending i've seen so far. It's a break from the experimental noise music that you usually see using this kind of gear.

    Well done!

  • This is the best circuit bent video on the tube

  • when you do the pitch shift it kind of sounds like a police siren! lol!

  • f@ckin titts man, love the oriental flute sound

  • Awesome! You have some sweet gear! Circuit bending is a beautiful thing!

  • what pedals do you have in the suitcase? great noise!

  • HOLY FUCK, that ending came out of left fuckin field. I love it man.

    Great job

  • sorry i didn't watch the whole video , maybe you have mention it but are those guitar effects you use in the jam session?

  • Very creative. I'm just not starting to get into this style of music. I've been trying to make conventional music on my computer for about 7 years now and I'm just starting to realize that I should have just been doing this type of stuff the whole time. BTW, what the hell was that runing accross your floor at 5:39 ?

  • Looked like a cat to me :)

  • Keep up the good work!

  • Otem, thank you so very much. I loved your jam session on this one and the way your mind works. Look forward to looking at more of your vids.

  • beautiful

  • Thats AMAZING MAN!!!...Super Creative!!...Your Loops are SUper Cool!!.....You said an NES Advantage Controller?, Did you hook it to any power to get signals from it?..My Bent Pss190 only makes Noise right now!...

  • This is sweet man

  • some nights i'm actually thankful there is a youtube. this is one of them

  • yo dude this shit is amazing man

  • nice... cool toys man...

  • that was amazing

    was it off the dome?

  • what size pot are you using for the pitch?i cant get those lows.i would like to see a pic of where you made your solder connections.

  • are you just running the signal out to a regular mixer and amp?

  • yup.

  • @otemrellik Dude thats pretty sick shit. You should a Circuit Bent Guitar

  • Awesome man!!! GReat

  • is there any kind of diagram for the bent PT-87

i wanna make something just like that

  • is that rc-2 loopstation you have there ?

  • yup.

  • INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • your a genious, thats so amazing.

  • Ace man, keep it up

  • Cat main!

    Кошка главная!

    Who be see a cat?

    кто нибудь видит кошку?

  • 6.26 - 6.28 sound like my car lol

  • Make the pitch bends in there a little less dominating and add some more atmospherical sounds and uve got me hooked. _love_ the end tho. Thats the real art piece!

  • Amazing! 0_0

  • something circuit bent that isn't complete noise! beautiful

  • Honestly, this is the best circuit bent track I've heard. Most others who are into bending just make a bunch of noise ... and I'm not really into that, more into the grimy melodies and such ... like this. Superb job.

  • very poetic

  • nice to see/hear someone putting circuit bending to good use

  • i think the jam is proof that, with the right amount of ingenuity, even the things people dont normally use after a certain period of time can be re-used into something beautiful

  • At 5:38, a kitty runs underneath the table from the top right. Funny!

  • nice shit man! ambient psychedelic past lifeish sorta buzz, love it

Why not buy some real synth aswell and get both styles flowing now that would be great!

  • Very nice

  • How is that looping ..?

Are you using a sampling efects pedal?

You should go busking in town its fucking awsome !!!!

  • nice haircut ! punks not dead :)

  • ++ for the hair.

  • wow, exelent "Jam Sessions" man !

  • That song was an inspirational example of how these instruments can be used! Too many people just make noise, not music. And are those Casio vl-1 and SA-20 I see? That's a nice palette of sounds you have in that suitcase.

  • could you tell me how i can put these pich knobs to my PT 87?!! i would love to know!

    thanks, cat

  • the break down at the end is fully good.

  • dude.... there's a freakin' rat on 3.40 XD

    briliant! :D

  • yea what the fuck was that thing!

Looks like a squirrel i think.

    Some nice sounds though.

  • it's a rat, really :D

  • nice sound on 2.15

  • Great!

En el minuto 5:39-5:40 aparece un visitante xD

  • OMG, that's awesome!

  • very clever. I hope you're getting some money with those skillz. good man.

  • That was an amazing job. Your keyboard improved a lot.

  • very cool! =)

  • An ambulance swithc, hoho

1:42 (and more), the thing starts to be an Atari sampler! Wonderful

  • great bass at 1min 14sec

    killer

  • is a casio ctk-411 a good keyboard to circuit bend? If so, can someone tell me how to do this awesome shit! p.s. i have no idea what i'm doing...

  • cool man. i like the pitchbend-thing. with the deep trianglewave

  • those deep waves were the one thing i didnt expect to hear. i wish i had a spare casio pt-30

  • Wow! i would gone "mad proffesor" on that thing :D

  • Great mind bending stuff! Keep on doing what you do!!

  • cool to see some circuit mods being used with some structure and development instead of just random sounds followed by random sounds

  • ok, i have read many of the comments here. nd simply must stade that, yes assuming he created all the modifications, then he is a fucking jenious. but he has no musical skilz at all.... realy, i had to stop 30-60secconds through ur jam session... that equipment in the right hands, very nice modifications

  • I have recived a private responce from otemrellik:

Just so u know, yes I do all the mods on my keyboards. If u think I have no musical talent thats ok. Please at least listen 2 my music before passing judgment like that

    *URL To Users Myspace*

I can confirm that u have no musical tallent, thanks 4 providing ability 2 confirm it. i thaught this vid may have been 1off.

But again, ur other tallents lik HTML is great, lik ur myspace page, and the construction of the device in ur video.

  • This sounds nice.

  • what the hell is that scampering on the floor during your jam??

  • This is excellent!

    Great job!

I hope to someday bend as radly as you.

  • ever consider becoming a club dj, I do know you have t3h skills for it

  • my ears are smiling.

  • genial el gato ke pasa por el suelo ...cool cat

  • I like it!

  • Awesome!

  • I like GIG suit case, NICE!

Plus the DISTORTION switch on casio.

    NICE!

    Igor

  • wow. more noise... like most circuit bent shit. it sounds horrible. why don't you actually add some useful filters and oscilators? circuit bending... i.e. making casios sound worse than they started off.

  • hardly.. those lowpitch sounds were wicked.

there's way worse noise out there in the land of old poor casio pt-xx bending

  • sweet.. have u used schems or just trail n error to mod thos?

  • a plus.
