  • Great little piece of film. All the little details added like the dog chewing the brush at the end and the old guy cleaning his pipe are all superb. Aardman must have really observed people so much cause these 3 clay figures act exactly as people do in reality. Very sad though. When he picks up his case at the end and walks off you can really tell what he's thinking. Same thing everyday. Never going to get anywhere. It's amazing what a genius can do with a few pieces of clay

  • I have been looking for this for years too! It is absolutely beautifully observed & the animation is exquisite. So poignant & touching. Wonderful dialogue. It's my favourite Aardman animation by a mile. How fantastic that Gordon Draper has been immortalized - in plasticine!

  • I've been looking for this for years! Thanks for posting and thanks to the people for their invaluble information. Does anyone know the year the recording took place please?

    Thanks again, Billy Gibbons. Cheshire.

  • great, everything about the anatomie and sounds compared to the created picture is right, i love it > eyebrows and wrinkles and fingers, lovely! later when the tongue and teeth get attached in aardmans work it gets funnier, but this is just so very pleasant

  • Great stuff, I loved these when they came on Channel 4 Any chance of Early Bird & Palmy Days?

  • this is genius, he way he warps his lines to the responses that the old couple give

  • 3:24 is that pete burne?

  • I have to admit, the saleman sounds like Peter Sailes (wallace).

  • This is my uncle Grodon Draper who is still alive. He was asked by Aardman to record him doing his pitch, at the time he was the District Sales Manager for Betterware, and many a person he trained went on the other sales roles and done very well but never forgot their start in life given by Betterware by carrying a large case, with a cheery smile of door to door selling. Enjoy

  • Cool! Invaluable information, thank you!

  • wow i used to watch these when i was a child, havn't seen them for years! thank you for putting them on :-)

  • Actually, forgot to ask, does he look anything like he is portrayed in plasticine?

    Cheers

  • Hey no problem,no he does not look nothing like the charater, but how he is talking he is still like that, I fogot to mention it was recorded in Bedminster, Bristol, and every time Channel 4 or other broadcaster's replyed the clip, he always got a call or a letter, stating they could not believe they heard Gordon Draper voices comming out of the TV!

  • Gordon Draper was our landlord for a time in 1980-81 - he owned a house in Bishopston which he let to students. This is undoubtedly him! As I recall he looked a little like the plasticene version but a bit older. Delighted to hear he is still with us.

  • It's Patrick Stewart.

    Awesome.

  • That's exactly what I was thinking!

    Ha ha!

  • i'm suprised this movies has no views. its one of the best arrdman animations. if you have any other aardman classics, could you put them on. PPPPLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEAAAse? i'm a socialist!
