  • I think you should combine the two trains.

  • The HO set is still on sale and manufactured, available for $500. The O scale version is not available anymore.

  • what gauge is it

  • Hey man great layout, like the vid, i found that set on Model train stuff.com , with trak and controller 250

  • where did u get most of ur trains and the acela is really awsome so u got it on ebay

  • @cwlegoboy Thanks! I actually got most of my trains from either shows or shops to begin with, but I have to say, during the last 5 years, I've been predominantly buying off eBay and internet shops. I've found the prices more competitive for the trains, but for track and controllers etc, I always give good business to my local shop!

  • the store I usually get US models does have the motor cars in stock, and is able to profide the cars as well, but only the motor cars are about 159.90 € (US$229,90).

so I can find it, just can't afford it...-_-

  • @streamlinedtrains I just got back from the trip it was just amazing. while on the acela we were business class and had very comfortable trip. we only got up to maybe 90MPH because bad track. Lake Shore Ltd. was very fun we got a bedroom suite and i got top bunk. we got back into buffalo at 1:00 am. it was amazing!.

  • On May 7th I am takin a plane to Boston, MA from Buffalo, NY and going to Boston South Station. From there I am Taking Acela # 2037 to NYC Penn Station. From there I will be taking the Lake Shore Limited # 49 back to Buffalo, First Class. This whole trip will take 12 1/2 hours. Cost - 360$ (Relative is a travel agent)

  • @Amtraklover103 WOW! Thats quite a trip! : ) I'd love to ride on the Acela at some point, unfortunately, its a pricey one... I'll be taking the Lake Shore Limited a lot next year though between Penn Station and Syracuse, since I'm moving to the USA next year, and I have relatives and friends in DC and NYC. Let me know how the journey goes - enjoy!

  • what size is your layout

  • great lighting in the carridges but it might slow down the train because of the amount of voltage

  • @gtacrusher123 I've actually not found that a problem so far. Plus, the power car is so heavy and fast, I seem to be able to get decent HO scale 150mph out of it!

  • @streamlinedtrains true most of the old trains used to go like rockets now they havent got enought power to haul a massive train i am gladd intercity82 told me about you

  • Im not really sure how much the Acela would be where you live but I did price out a trip from New York Penn Station to Washington DC's Union station for only $381.00 with food and reserved seats.

I love the review the detail that you gave was great! I've always wanted someone to make a video of the Acela and you made one with great attention to detail. I don't think that anyone could have put together a better presentation. 5*****

  • @firelitebg12L Thanks! I might well be taking the trains up the NE Corridor quite a bit over the next few years - I'm moving to the East Coast of the US this summer. Glad you enjoyed the video - before I bought the Acela, I was keen to find an actual review that wasn't shot in low lighting, at 240p on someone's bedroom floor... so I did this one!

  • in a hobby shop here in california i seen it in set with track and controller it was 440 dollars

  • @TomyTrackmastertrain wow, thats a lot! I got mine on eBay for $175. It was an old set, but worth it at that price with the track and controller. The new ones have better lights installed, I think - LEDs rather than incandescent bulbs (which don't show up much through the tinted windows!)

  • Can the regular knuckle coupler work on the acela cars?

  • @TEMPLE7D You can use them - you would have to install them specially. Plus, since the cars tilt, the angle might change enough on corners for the couplers to come undone. The current coupler stick-things don't look great, but they keep the cars close together, and I've never had a problem so far.

  • Hello. Is there always a gap in between the cars and the power cars or is it adjustable for bigger radii?

    regards Kon

  • @bnrails There is always a gap to accommodate smaller "train-set" raidii, but I imagine you could modify it to have better couplers- Kadees would be fairly simple to fit. Even between the cars, it can be quite tricky to connect them without connecting them off the track. Works well, looks a bit crap! Kadees probably the answer. Thanks!

  • It´s really really good!!! i love acelaa! you know how much and where you buy the train acela?? Bye from México!

  • @macrorail Hey there.. You can buy it from Ebay.com and Amazon.com (through Comgateway) Cheers!! ... :)

  • cool how much was it

  • @train4561 about £118 for the whole thing. Nice model though!

  • sadly amtrak changed.

  • The catenary pickup on this train is live for the hard-core set. I admire people who can build a model catenary to support this model train set.

  • @kjrehberg Yeah, they are impressive, but I think they are prone to intermittent contact problems, especially in Digital

  • @streamlinedtrains I am actually working on making a digital layout using a catenary system for most trains. I have done testing, and it will drop the signal, without some sort of power booster. I am running it using a 9 amp system that is custom designed for power, and for control, bachmann's dynamis. It is running great on my temporary layout so far.

  • great video again from you i think that the acela is such a impresive train

  • @tpe18509 It is lovely. I think for a high speed train, i wouldn't normally expect it to have such a robust and strong engine, so much good detail, and a lighting system!

  • nice, i modeling british train, but this train is really good, love the detaill

  • @itgamer100 Yeah, its great. Its built by Alstom/Bombardier, the same people who did all the TGVs in France, the Pendolinos and the Eurostar. Pretty good track record I'd say!

  • Very nice, I've been meaning to get one of these in HO scale to use as a desk model! It really is a nicely done model.

I'm from New Jersey, btw, and have ridden the Acela quite a few times. My brother lives over on your side of the pond in Yorkshire, and I've ridden the Pendolino while visiting over there! I have to say, the Pendolino wins on ride quality, but the Acela is roomier and the seats are nicer! :)

  • @mj1234321 Ah, great! My brother and I are actually dual-citizens; we are British and American. We'd love to live over in the US one day, and the Acela is a must on our list! I like the Pendolinos too, and, for the moment, the ticket prices are quite reasonable.

  • Once again amazing review!!

  • @drewzdrew27 Thanks! So glad to finally have this one. Its been on my list for years!
