@CircusFreakGRITZ My question is: What happens if you don't exit THE TRAIN at a final stop at a place like Alewife or Forest Hills. The train leaves the "Exit Only" platform and you are still on board. Does the operator walk through the train to make sure the train is empty. If thats what he/she does, then what would they say to you when they saw you were still on the train?
Hey did you passed on Huntington Ave ? I saw a fire station there and it looked like the on from that show they run on Discovery with the american firefighters in Boston.
@2012alexg I don't think those are the tracks to arborway. If I remember, they finished paving all the tracks from heath to arborway several years ago. The last remains were from Centre Ave. to Arborway, which is now completely paved and at Arborway/Forest Hills terminus, which is still visible with the green Forest Hill sign. The tracks that are there are the beginning of the loop at Heath St.
@2012alexg I'm not sure. It is possible that the loop was there as a traffic control/resting area. They do something similar at Brigham Circle during rush hour, where one train terminates at Brigham Circle and goes inbound to Lechmere while the train after that continues outbound to Heath St..
@2012alexg As I remember it was a loop with staging tracks. Remember the old PCCs were one way vehicles like busses. In rush hours they would run some trains to Heath st. They also had a small fleet of double cab switcher PCCs that they got from Texas. These used to run to Northeastern and back during school and rush hours and would stage on the middle track(which was longer than it is now) at NU. The double cabs ran on the High Speed line for a while before they were retired.
@Moepabc Nope. From what I heard, the residence there argue that it will create a traffic issue. However, all the older folks wanted the service back and running. The only problem was a majority of the people living in that area at the present day are young and don't know the benefit of the tracks. It was replaced by Bus 39.

It only works for mac but if you have a PC there might a windows version somewhere, just search "Fox 20th Century Intro Maker", I think there are a bunch out there
great! its nice to see the buildings and cars instead of a dark tunnel for a change. it sounded like they had the a/c on. is it getting hot in boston already? lol
I was on the D line today, you should have been there. They were de-coupling trolley pairs at Riverside and sending out single trolleys. I got it on camera.
There was a disabled train at newton center and I guess they were trying to help eliminate the "bunching" that was occurring by separating the trolley pairs and sending them out individually.
I was at reservoir and I saw a single trolley go by so I got it on film thinking it was rare. Then I saw another single go by, and the second one said "Kenmore" as its destination. So I went to riverside and sure enough I saw a ton of single trolleys and caught some staffies decoupling a pair.
if they have route 39 bus running on the branch to abroadway then why bother operating the E train at the same time? it a waste of money

I dont use the streetcar I use the bus that goes all the way to Forest Hills

I hope they never bring the trolley back to Arborway. It was the slowest most over crowded branch they had.

Wentworth Institute of Technology!
For 2 years I rode the PCC's out to there.
I didn't recognize most of the buildings, I know about the time I left all the old was being torn down.

@gygyman64 The fire station on Huntington Ave (between Museum of Fine Arts and Longwood Medical) is indeed the place where they filmed the show.

Well extending the service back to Arborway IS part of the Big Dig, but its very difficult for the T to do anything these days.

Let's see if I can get this right... someone help me with this...
Boeing SLRV's were numbered 35##
Type 7 are 36##
Type "7.5" (black seats) are 37##
Type 8 Bredas are 38##
Yes?
BostonUrbEx 2 years ago
Yes, your right, but the SLRV's are both 34## and 35## (There were a total of 144 SLRV's total number 3400 - 3543)
