Quite possibly the most influential band to hit the airwaves. ELO, a combination of using a mix of symphonic, technical, and acoustic abilities to give the listener something wonderful. Jeff lynn's voice is as haunting now as it was back then when he and his group gave us twilight, Evil woman, and of course Last train to london. Last but not least, his gave music ingredient to give Olivia Newton John for the needs to complete Xanadu. Incredible band that has stood the test of time.

Wow!!! The sound is amazing! I didn't notice it at first, and I didn't didn't notice audiophile remaster. I have this album and I play it alot. (ELO albums always have good sound quality) I have never heard sound quality online as good as the vynyl. This is the first time sound quality like this. Love it!

The tread of a tire or track refers to the rubber on its circumference that makes contact with the road. As tires are used, the tread is worn off, limiting its effectiveness in providing traction. I looked up the definition and spelling on line.

@movejefflynnelo I bought TIME on vinyl in October of 1981 and I still have it. I'm looking at the lyrics in front of me now and it reads, "And as you TREAD the halls of sanity..." It's from the verb 'to tread' i.e. walk,stride,step,tramp,march,t­rudge etc. An early use of "tread the halls" is in the Greek tragedy 'Agamemnon' by Aeschylus - "I do not look to tread the halls of fear...". Anyhoo, LOVED your stereo expansion/remastering - sounds HUUUUUGE!!! X

I saw ELO live on the Time Tour (Wembley) - it was awesome and they started the concert with this song - the place exploded! I'll never forget it. Always ahead of their time, they were (and probably still are) FANTASTIC! :-) Love them! xx

FYI the Strange Magic compilation has a MUCH better quality version of "Twilight" than the album does. Everything on the Strange Magic version is separated and more clear...I'm wondering if it's from the single, and maybe the single used a *very* slightly different mix?!?

The first time I heard this track back in 1981 on vinyl, I was a little disappointed at its audio quality. I imagined that it could and should have been mixed a whole lot better than it had been. The CD release some years later wasn't any better.

Now in they year 2010 ... I finally hear it the way I imagined it should have been all along.

Wonderful Re-master .... AND Better late than never.

The first vocoder that you hear is an EMS Vocoder 2000W MkI, which ELO later sold to a Mr. Manuel Joseph Parrish of NYC. The "Prologue" vocoder is a Roland VP-330 Vocoder Plus MkI (since they already had sold the aforementioned EMS Vocoder).
