I am so so glad and never more proud of all our forfathers and family of Canada - it leaves me sadden to wonder could this generation have the bravery and strenght to even do as much a have the labor - I think not - - god bless all who have suffered .
The British Officers were arrogant most were not chosen for their ability then,it resulted in them wasting their men with terrible planning
The tactics are used today in every army . The Gemans in WW2 called it Blitzkrieg The Americans may call it shock and Awe today but it is a Canadian war Tactic.
@dave777blaster the first storm troopers were the nick name given to Canadians from the Germans in WW1, 20 years later, the SS remembered this nick name and took it for themselves, in the 70s the nick name evolved with Hollywood and Star Wars (Oddly enough Darth Vader was Canadian too...LOL), what was once a compliment from their enemy, the proud label given to Canadians now has a connotation of evil!
god bless you Canadians ,i had the privilage of serving with you in bosnia 1995, the Americans allways win the wars because they make the films, uboat 57 for example, although some films are being made by other countries Brotherhood, [korean]and 9th company Russian are both worth watching
In Canada there is still resentment that we are not fully credited for important Allied victories in both World Wars.
Americans take note: we already fought someone else's war and this is part of the reason we are proud not to be in Iraq. We would only be winning your battles with you taking credit for unearned victories.
ya am kind of sick of that bullshit the aussies and kawies they got the same tho and then the us thinks and acts like the won w2 by them selves.o well atleast we canadians know what we did in the wars
@41stTI Well, it's good to have an opinion since you guys weren't even there.....so it's basically just talking shit at this point in which you seem to be so adept....."I am proud not to have served with the Americans, because I would have kicked their ass" whatever.....Are you sure you're Canadian and not a euro? That sounds like euro-shame for not going....
Ah the days when Canada was a military powerhouse...but who needs nostalgia when you can have a series of Liberal government backed military cutbacks to put us right back in the middle ages?
little spellign mistake there. you men too bad we wasnt given full command. im not beign an ass, but someone moght mis-read this and ive you flak for it. jsut trying to be helpful.
yea. and he would of won battles like passchendaele and the somme within a few days the way it should of occured but the british had dumbasses as generals like rawlingson, haig and french.
the germans tried taking it back in force about a week after we left on november 11(1 year before end of the war). but they failed to take it back than in the march 1918 offensive the germans basically took 3 years of ground back only to lose it 5 months later.
To all the families who greaved then, to now. Thank you, for such sons and daughters to have protected us then, without a care in the world of their own safety. I didn't know any of you, and I cry, and cry, on poppy day, at memory of them I never knew.
Arthur Currie, the Greatest Canadian ... though you rest now, do not be angry at Hague or any Brit of your period. Canada was engendered by Brits - you are of Britains's daughters and sons, of Good Queen Bess, of William the conqueror ... you are of England, fine bright General Currie, and no one could be more proud of you ....
my grandfather was a scotish imigrant who settled in toronto and faught in ww1 in a canadian reg so did my father in ww2 after the war he settled in england ,they were both proud canadians,we are proud of our canadian heritage but also that we are english,we are kindred spirits canada and britain always will be
i had a person say to me they would be scard to go to the WW1 and WW2 battle felds because she thinks they would haunt her i told her that all they would do is say thankyou for renembering
Thank you for posting this GeOrgeOrwell. I bought that 2 DVD set a while ago. It is very well documented ideed. For those interested in seeing what the 2nd DVD contains. Search Youtube for: "The Last 100 Days". It contains footages from the USA entering the war in 1918
Thank you for posting this, it really makes me even more proud of my country. Though, I was already aware of what happened, I'm glad others can see it now as well.
that was profoundly and salutarily exciting. and from the excellent work of this media, i cant help but think there is so much more in this story. if this was american history, d-day would have been just a t.v series. as if Currie wouldn't be the perfect role for a Canadian war epic. think about it!? sweet jesus that was great.
Mom: where are you going?
Me: i'm going to kill the nazi who disliked this.
Mom: by yourself?

too bad currie was given command of the whole allied forces in 1914, than maybe we reallywould of ended the war by christmas 1914.

yea i meant too bad he wasn't and i think you got a bit of spelling mistake of your own in your sentence XD
ultradumbass 3 years ago
yup iam 100% agree with you, if he was given full command i bet he would have reduced all allied loses by atleast 30% :) which is huge.

yea. and he would of won battles like passchendaele and the somme within a few days the way it should of occured but the british had dumbasses as generals like rawlingson, haig and french.

no kidding, if Currie had done it all, the Germans wouldn't have taken passchendaele back a week after capture lmao.
odstsniper 3 years ago
it was actually 5 months later but yea exactly.
ultradumbass 3 years ago 2
You sure, i read that the Germans took Passchendaele 2 weeks after we took it.
