sad truth about nurses. SOme many act like bitches. I got words for you. You should NOT be in this profession in the first place. I am a new unit manager and I promise you will get what you deserved. I had to take so much crap from some of you. Now it's payback time. All bitchy nurses will be out of the job sooner or later. This way my unit will be rightly called 'caring'.
This's awesome! I'm an INE(international nurse),today is my first day for clinical practice, during the orientation, i heard the words "horizontal violence", i didin't quite get it. This clip is the best way for me understand it.Thanks a lot!
Completely awesome ladies! This is a great clip. I'm 30 years old and in my second year of nursing and quite frankly thinking about leaving the profession because of the degree of horizontal violence that seems to be a part of this profession. I think the question needs to be asked, although it will be a controversial one, not just "why do nurses eat their young" but as it is a prodominantly femail profession, "why do women in a similar role eat their young???"
@nursejohannamo A friend of mine compared this whole situation to baby chicks. There is always one chick in the brood which gets picked on. Once a chick gets singled-out (targeted), just like the feeding frenzy of piranha and sharks, all of the other chicks jump-in and take their turns at a picking on that particular chick. This type of anti-social behavior happens in all kinds of organizations. Nurses talk about lateral and horizontal violence; however, something more nefarious is going on.
@grandforksvibrations Hi, I am a male RN x15 years. I also have 2 chickens, I had 4 but 2 died. The runt (or just the smallest of them) always got picked on. Her name was Rosebud and she just passed. Yea, nurses bust balls all the time. Check out my vids of the chicks.

How about horizontal refreshment in nursing. Is that why they call her the head nurse ?

So this behavior is very common in the NUrsing field?

@nursejohannamo i think it's best to NOT waste time in nursing. I was in it and I'm glad I'm out. BTW, there's NO nursing shortage.
