  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!

  • AN AWSOME PLACE WAS THERE FROM IRELAND A FEW YEARS BACK

OUT ON THE EASTERN CAPE WITH THE GREAT PACIFIC STRETCHING HALF WAY AROUND THE WORLD OUT IN FRONT OF YOU A REAL FEELING THAT YOU ARE OUT ON THE EDGE OF THE WORLD

  • ok im a really really tough guy but this movie made me shed a tear. respect our heritage and culture

  • Thanks for sharing, he is such an inspiration! You've made my day :D

  • Still shed a tear even tho i have seen it hundreds of times. Need more meaningful movies like whale rider!

  • Same here .

I could watch it every day.

It never gets boring , it never loses its meaning ...

but it always makes you shed a tear.

  • @TheThirdGerman Thanks SO MUCH for saying that!! I do not feel so weird-Didn't catch it in the cinema: I actually 'watched' (e.g., had it on in the background while going about my day and pausing to view different moments) it for THREE days! It's a kind of socio-therapy-what I would want to experience as community while earthbound~{^_^}~

  • i have this movie its sad

  • @TonganGirl4Life101 - it is a movie about overcoming limitations, believing in yourself no matter what, listening to the Source, being attunded to the planet, honoring past traditions w/out being limited by them, love, and hope fulfilled. Is that sad?

  • what is the name os the song at beggins at 13 seconds in trailer and ends at 40 seconds?

  • Hey I think it's the son called Go forward of Lisa Gerard, the song is from the sountrak I think,I hope this help you, this movie is amazing!

  • The best movie ever Whale Rider. What she went through with her gentle strength to bring down the patriarchal lies, must be devastating to the power lords, but the way of good things to come.

  • I love this film. I've been to Whangara, I love the Whale rock, you go down the beach and it's just an awesome view....plus my uncle is Witi Ihimaera=]

Aussie rep all the way though.

  • Read Brenden Hokowhitu, white people

  • You wouldn't want us to read Brendan Hokowhitu, he's not racist.

  • terribly man-hating crap film

  • Retard.

  • Now there's an intelligent, well thought-out rebuttal for you... Nice work, Aristotle. You're really bringing the level of discourse up a few notches, huh? Must be from her tribe, no?

  • I always cry when I hear Paikea's speech.

  • love it

    from barcelona,europe....with llove

  • it is always good to hear from maoriland and this movie is very special!!

  • I ♥ that great film named Whale Rider!!!1

  • one of the greatest movies ever

  • I love Whale Rider... good to know its on YouTube! Awesome.

  • Whale Rider is my favorite movie ever, Thank you for posting this! Thank you so much!

  • Yay, I love "Whale Rider"! It's about time it appeared on YouTube. And you went to Whangara?! You lucky chicken!

  • Finally someone thought about putting Whale Rider on youtube. TOP!!! I'll do a music vid myself these days...

I think it's soo great, that you've been there (at Whangara) and mixed the trailer with your own stuff.

Question? What was that bone in the end? A whale head? From Paikea?

  • That was an actual Whale that stranded on tha beach a couple of months earlier!
