NRDC is sloppy in it's approach to Action Letters. It turns out they don't send letters but instead posts the letters as "comments" to government agencies who are required to post all comments. Those comments are posted online as pdfs with you name, address, email address and yes your phone number. This is the dirty little secret NRDC fails to tell you. So if you don't want your personal info picked up by web crawlers then don't sent action letters for NRDC. If you complain NRDC stonewalls you.
It is so important to spread awareness about what is happening to our planet, to all the creatures living here; some of us are prospering - some are dying out. I live next to a refinery, on a sea city. My mother told me that when she was about 5-6 yrs, she was going to the little beach near the refinery, and now, because of it, it's all black for the dust, you can't stay there, you can't go swimming, you can't either breathe! I think it's something really sad, and I know there r a lot of other "stories" like this. This is something we should think about. We have to do something, whatever something it is.

When Mike was talking about the water being unswimmable, I remembered the rivers here. The same things are happening here so its not just America. They throw dead animals in the water, wash their dishes, throw their garbage, bathe their animals and themselves. Its really sad and its really wrong.

the whole "green" thing is great and don't get me wrong cause I'm glad people are aware but it's not as easy as it sounds. We can't just suddenly stop burning fossil fuels because people need to DRIVE to work so they can feed their families. Another thing, no matter how much we all hate it, wars will never stop. Human kind has been at war with itself since the beginning of time. I'm glad so many people are going green but it's gonna take alot more then letters and emails to fix this crazy mess.
