I was in this contest representing Barbados! Thank God I got knocked out on day 1! I remember getting to the contest on day 2 to watch and the first few waves I recorded were badly out of focus because I was so in awe at the size and of course the fact that (Tamega in particular) were dropping telephone pole high waves and then rushing back up at the lip and LAUNCHING!!! OH! and then FALLING 15ft and landing so freaking hard! Full respect to those fellows and their chiropractors!

@panpili7.......Nope, I was there, and personally shot this footage with a VHS camcorder and made the edit. However, the best waves from this contest appeared in almost every video that came out in 1994, and I remember Underground Tapes using a lot of them.

I remember watching this contest on video, they could only use morey boogie boards....they only had PE core boards and no stringers.......imagine using that kind of equipment at pipe that big these days...........

I'm glad someone posted this. I was on the judging staff for that contest, spotting riders. I remember that we almost postponed the finals 'cause it was getting so out of control. Tamega WAS crazy. All five and a half feet of him. I think that was the first time the Mike didn't make a final at Pipe, but I could be mistaken.
