  • I really like how this song shows that The Doors were a whole lot more than just Jim Morrison. Something a lot of people dont seem to understand.

  • classic!

  • Excelente canción, desde mi punto de vista la mejor, aunque no este Morrison.

  • 3 people's ships sailed off without them.

  • Though Morrison is not a part of this, I think this is a great piece of music. and thank God for YOUTUBE and the people who've put this up...I thank you!

  • this is good but not bluesy enough like the real doors

  • KIEREN KE ME DESSAGA CON ESA ROLA OKE GRACIAS A MI JEFE KE ME MECIONO ESATA ROLA THE DOORS 4EVER

  • love this album, so seventees. My fav album of the seventees actually

  • I really like the vocals in this song

  • Very good song but the magic is lost...

  • oh ....my....god... this one is the best post jim morrison, very rare, love love the end. searched for it for years. viva the computer!! and you tube!

  • es uno de eso climax que the doors solian hallar en sus canciones. me parece que john escribio esta. muy bien!

  • Yes and to some now, What u gonna do now americans?

Basicly I want you good, but there's this little dwarf who laughs ar you

  • I've played this countless times already. Damn youtube. Where's the "repeat" button?

  • Awesome!

  • robby krieger sounds a little like jim morrison. ray sounds a little like the guy from u spin me right round or rick rolled guy

  • I think the fatal flaw with post-Morrison Doors is that they went down a Jazz route, they should have carried on making Blues! Manzarek's voice was perfect for Blues and I think they would had a good run after Morrison if they didn't go with Jazz. I do love this song though, IMO Ships With Sails, Tightrope Ride and The Mosquito were the only good songs from the last two albums.

  • This is really good, but to me the name "The Doors" died with Morrison.

  • Absolutely the best post-Jim song by The Doors. They really re-found the spark for this number. So powerful, and yet so poignant x

  • That groove is a mile wide!

  • @jeffmoto72 I like that pun. Fairly clever.

  • God, that would be such a hit with Jim :( Even without him its a perfect song, but his voice is just missing...

  • @kaskalo2 no no no this is a good end en a new forward ! this song is the best even without jim .acept it

  • @pieter180671 I said it is a perfect song, I have accepted it... I'm just saying it would be better with Jim. And it would, no1 can deny that.

  • Mae77 I agree with your description of this song (Y)

  • Great . . . .just . . .. Great!!

  • I would love to hear Morrison sing this - it's got the wistful quality that so many Doors songs have with just a bit of pain thrown in too. It might be my imagination but I think I can hear Manzarek crying out to him in this song.

  • this is a great song !!!!!!!!!!! and that without jim ,super

  • I saw these guys tour without jim with this album..they gave a good performance..would have been great if jim were there but..time marches on

  • If this aint good, why my arm hair tries to stand up?

  • This song is as good as any Morrison-era track. This is The Doors at their best.

  • this is a decent track but Imagine Jimbo singing it.... there is the rub.

  • GRANDES MUSICOS, GRAN TALENTO, AUN SI SU POETA, LA BANDA APORTANDO UN MUY DELICIOSO BOCADILLO MUSICAL.

  • Love this song....and this album.....and it's perfect without Jim singing it. I just love the Doors in all their different assemblies.

  • Klazzy. I think it's only Ray, Robbie had that Bob Dylan-rockabilly sound going in Runnin' Blue. But maybe it is Robbie too. Great sang

  • nadie le quita el talento a estos musico aunque el poeta aya muerto ellos son muy talentosos cada uno tiene esa ritmo caracteristico q los define..........

    gracias doors x su musica

  • sexy song haha Jim would be glad singing it

  • At 2:27 you can see a weird face in his shirt :)

  • what beauty, most people give jim all the credit this here shows all four did there part in making something so so peerless

  • This "Other Voice" is a really great tribute for Jim by the other Doors...

  • this is one my favorites doors songs...... their was a lot more to the doors then just Jim Morrison....(the music is talent)

  • Where did you get the Amsterdam footage? If you have it: Is there sound?

  • @piafounet , I got it from the "no one here are alive now" documentary, it's easy to find in any DVD shop.

    Yes, it has sound.

  • @Mae77 I have got this dvd. I don't remember seeing much more than ten seconds of hello i love you. What i would like to know is : is there any video of the amsterdam concert without jim?

  • @piafounet , nope. Just the "Hello I love you" is what I used to make this vid.

  • @piafounet De lo mejor de los Doors, que Buenos recuerdos

  • A very nice and unique song, but the vid doesn't fit. It shows takes from the 1968 Concert at Frankfurt / Germany 1. Show. And some takes from The Doors Live at Europe. But it doesn't matter!

  • Perfect.

  • As a very long time Doors fan, they should have insisted on going forward with the band and getting a new lead vocalist. Jim was great and a legend, but they could have found someone else.

  • that is one cool song, is it in the documentary 'When Your Strange" because there is a sailing ship version in the doc. film and that was a classic scene for the film.

  • esta es la rolla mas maravillosa ke e escuchado!!!

  • can you get this album on cd inbox me tks

  • OTHER VOICES IS A GREAT ALBUM

  • @robertpdn i agree it is but its almost like a different band without jim it is really good too i like it, but its not the same without him.

  • I am so in love with this.

  • The reason for the instrumental break in Light My Fire was to show the world these guys weren't just another pop band cranking out 2 min tunes but 3 incredible musicians. Think about it. There is very little vocals in that song. Actually, the song needs no vocals. That was the beginning. Now move forward to this song. IGNORE THE VOCALS, will ya? Just like LMF, the vocals are few. For 35 years, since I first heard this song, I believe this one closed their career.

  • @LashBridges You said it perfectly. When the long version of Light My Fire played on AM radio in spring 1967--it blew everyone's mind, with it's long, hypnotic instrumental interlude.

  • AWSOME JUST AWSOME. if Mr. Mojo didnt die this wouldve sounded way better w his voice but i really like this. i didnt know they put out 2 albums after Jim died but i like what i hear

  • De las mejores de los Doors

  • I like to think, that all those 4 guys in Doors were individuals. And this this song, sang by Ray, is just one classic songs made by them. Existential song made by own experiments. Not by other, in that time passed, Door's member's experiments. And I'm not saying this by trying to underrate J. Morrisison's acts and influence. They were all good musicians.

  • to me this should have been the last song on full circle, it has that haunting endless type of feel , just as riders on the storm did on L.A. WOMAN. i still think these 3 talented men could have been more involved in the 70's music, not as the doors, but they could have easily worked with singers and song writers, just listen to this song's riffs..... incredible and tight...jim would have been very proud of them.

  • The best post-Morrison Doors song by far! I've been loving it since I first heard it in 1981. yeah

  • Such a great funky Doors sound !

The band was criminally underrated as muso's !

  • Beautiful soulful playing by Robbie as always. I kind of like the "jam band" feel of the post Morrison Doors. It sucks everyone says "Oh they are not as good without Jim" before listening. Its not fair to compare. Of course they are going to sound different, but they are still The Doors!

  • Gracias por el aporte brotha, es imperdonable que alguien como yo tan fanático de The Doors no supiese de tan chingona rola!!!

  • Soulfull and existential. I like it. Why didn't they go on?

  • Good song, interesting footage as well!

  • . . . one of the best songs ever written.

  • This is really cool.....I love your song Jimmy........

  • I try to imagine how Jim would've handled the vocals. would've given this song more GRAVITY, I'm sure.

  • Great song! Agree with posters below; Jim Morrison would have made this a classic!

  • Comment removed

  • cool song, they should play this song in their concerts often

  • amazing sounds...jim's vocals would have made this epic

  • There is some new information about

    Jim Morrison's death at

    erichufschmid(dot)net. Enter, "The

    Strange Death of Jim Morrison."

  • gotta aggree with that - definitely the best post Morrison track.

  • Kinda gives an idea of the direction they might have gone had Jim lived.

  • The post morrison albums are pretty sweet defenlty not as epic without jim but robby and ray defenlty are sweet musicians and pretty sweet singers

  • this is just more doors music without singing. the band was light years ahead of the pack.

  • jim have sing this song but its never recordert

  • I agree, this is the best post-Morrison Doors song

  • Like to see what you could do with I'm Horny I'm Stoned off the same album. That has Robby on the vocals.

  • If Jim Morrison had lived and sang this tune it would be have been huge hit and be considered a classic.

  • 1st time hearing this song, catchy tune defintely doors resemblence...ty for the vid mae.....

  • Does anyone know where I can find the two post morrison albums OTHER VOICES AND FULL CIRCLE?

  • review your PMs

  • There's always a few copies floating around on eBay. I just checked, and yep there are some copies on there. I would haveliked to have heard Jim sing Ships With Sails and maybe add a dark twist to it.

  • just downloaded both off Limewire

  • this is a very good song whats sad is their keyboard player didnt sing it live.

  • u r wrong. Ray sang this song live ! Search in my videos, I have a version in there.

  • My favorite post-Morrison era song from The Doors. :)

  • haha uploaded it on my bday which is also the day the doors played the aquarius theatre

  • what a blast from the past. I used to sing this to rile my girlfriend

  • this song truly kicks ass, you know its the Doors even w/o Jim on this song, truly great!

  • I could picture this being on L.A. Woman

  • Put a little menace in it, with Jim singing and a few lyric changes (too sacharrine as it stands) and, I agree - it could have been a quintessential Doors track.

  • Wow, I havent heard this in years. I've always thought this would have been the Doors next top 10 hit. Can you imagine how this would have sounded with Morrison!

  • Ray has an 80s new age sound to his voice in this song. gotta love the electric piano.

  • I`m really suprised.They`re cool.

  • Nothing to be surprised about; it's the Doors. With our without Jim they rock.

  • true.but if someone normally "leaves" a band (if he`s part of the creative process) it affects the sound or at least the chemistry in the band, so I was suprised.cool tune anyway.like the jazzy feelin.

  • I agree nassreiskulturen. I guess it is cool how they kept the "vibe" without their centerpiece. You could have substituted Jim's voice over Ray's and it would have been a familiar Door song.

  • You`re right. This song also proofs that the four of them worked together (most of the time),that anyone had his own occupation: the three made the music, the instrumental music, and Morrisson sang and the wrote the lyrics.

  • I think the verses sound a bit like Jim...It's a little eerie because it's just an overtone, but it's there nonetheless. Love this song.

  • This song kinda reminds me of Santana. The vocals are little over the chart but othere that it is still a great song.

  • i like this 45, the vocals are a bit weak but i dig it.

  • um......

    buena musica

pero no no es lo mismo que con jim dejaron de ser los cuaros mosqueteros lastima manzarek, robbyy densmore

  • 35 Jahre nicht gehört, jetzt wiedergefunden - absolut genial und unterschätzt

  • It's not my cup of tea, but that's sort of harsh. The song is better than Orange Country Suite or whatever that tune was from the LA Woman sessions.

  • I love this album and I now have four copies of it.

This is the strongest vocal on Other Voices.

  • Has a Dead/Allmans kind of feel...some of the vocal phrasing dips into harmonic structures Jim never would have tried.

  • I love that this song has presence on YouTube, and the dedication you put into giving this some moving images. Ray was the first and last singer of the Doors, until those collaborations after Doors 21C touring, without JohnD.

Was ANY of the live/rehearsal footage of them doing THIS song?

My download usually shifts the sync so much it is hard to tell even when the edit is tightly synched.

What a great song, and do they really miss Jim so badly, on this tune at least?

  • My english really sux, I couldn't understand very well your questions. Let me try:

1.- There's one known filmed live perfomance of this song. It was in youtube but was deleted by copyright fuckers. I used a perfomance from the documentary made in England where the 3 Doors are in a moment without JIm and play Hello, I Love You with Ray singin'.

2.- It's said Ray wrote this song thinking in the relationship of Pam and Jim , even she was still alive when this song was recorded.

  • who is singing is john and ray singing?? cause thats defenatly not robby in the begining

  • Nope. It's Robbie. John never sung any chorus even. If you read the LP, it says : JOhn Densmore - Drums ; Ray Manzarek - Keyboards, vocals ; Robbie Krieger - Guitar, Vocals.

The only time John recorded a word was in the final chorus of Roadhouse Blues in the mix with John Lee Hooker.

  • Seriously?! I can't imagine Robbie sounding like that, man. I mean, Runnin' Blue, he has this very odd Bob Dylan-type thing going. It sounds like Ray... but Robbie is singing that alone? Wow, I never would have guessed.

  • Yeah dude its Ray. Robbie didn't sing this one. He could never sound like this. Listen to "Close to you" and compare. Ray sang most of the songs for Doors after Jim passed away

  • Man, I thought so. Thanks, mate.

  • @McMunchy It's Ray singing man not Robbie...Beautiful song and what a great bunch of musicians,,,,

  • Listen! Ray sings in a very juicy tone, Robby - in much higher, dylanish tone.

  • i was wondering is rays solo abulm the golden scab been realesed on cd yet

  • yes, see my videos , I made a fanmade video with the Golden Scarab song with the link to buy the album on CD.

  • this would have been awesome if jim was able to have sung. R.I.P Jim

  • Geezusss.......

  • I'm only forteen and i'm just getting into the doors can anyone tell me if the name of this album is ships with sails or something else?

  • "Other Voices" is the name of the album. Is almost impossible to get. The only chance is buying it by internet. It has never been officially released on CD. You can buy a russian CD bootleg or the vinil in amazon or eBay.

  • It's officially available and released in the USA in all formats except mp3s and cds but it's been out of production for a very long time. Therefore, try looking for this album on vinyl records, 8 track cassette, tape reel, or just the normal tape cassette.

  • the album is 'Other Voices'.

you can probably buy it at a circuit city or someplace.

btw im 13 and been into the doors since i was 11, music since i was born.

    ~

  • one word man ; TORRENT

I found this album, and the other post-morrison doors album, via the beautiful interent.

  • I classify them as "progressive blues". Nominated numero uno in mi libra, heh.

  • Groovealicious! This is the only post-Morrison Doors track I've heard, and I think it's some really good stuff. Sorta sounds like a combination of "Riders on the Storm" and Santana. I wonder if the rest of Other Voices is as good as this song?

  • I think this and Tightrope Ride are the better from the disc. The others... better listen them by urself 4 have an opinnion.

    The other songs are:

    wanderin musician

    im horny im stoned

in the eye of the sun

variety is the spice of life

    hang onto your life

    down on the farm

all are in youtube, just make a little search ;)

  • Thanks! Next time I get the chance, I'll listen to them.

I've heard "Tightrope Ride" is pretty good.

  • one of the best songs of the doors. even without jim morrison. other voices and full circle are not bad, but different to the earlier years.

  • i really like horny and stoned.... probably coz it describes me best

  • other voices and full circle are good albums

  • Great song. I knew about Other Voices but never bought it. This is the equal of anything on LA Woman. They sound very tight here. A shame Jim didn't get a chance to do the vocals. It'd be a Doors classic.

  • I like also "Verdilac" and "Piano Bird". But anyway, Jim Morrison was missing...

  • Awesome!

  • EXELENTE, DE LAS MEJORES CANCIONES DE tHE dOORS, AÚN SIN jIM!

  • Hmmm, you know that intro of Robbies kinda sounded like In Memory of Elizabeth Reed (Allman Brothers) You know the guys were just heartbroken - you can see it on their faces. This is good stuff though cuz they are all talented and great musicians and I applaud them for trying to carry on. Jim's absence just left too big a hole. You are all music gods in my book :) Thanks for posting this!
