I think militias are against the law. They should be brought to justice. This is a criminal activity. Once they are start running out funds to support their organization, they start committing crimes like any other gang. In Colombia militias started in the 1960s with the same patriotic idea, and look what happened. Also, you are not the military and you do not train to the same standards as the military. And, as I said before, if there were a war on U.S. soil, all you would be is a small nuisance group. Just as any person could be. You do not need a militia to protect yourself and I would go as far to say that being in a militia is going to lower your chances for survival in a SHTF scenario.

I think the real issue is ignorance of the situation verses preparedness, There certainly is nothing wrong with calling a group together to be prepared. Lord, the Boy Scout Motto, Be prepared is taught to each of use at 8 years old. Nothing wrong with meeting and talking. Do remember each neighborhood is composed of ex: officers, NCO's and troops. They are for the defense of each of us and we should know how to call them together if necessary. That is Militia.

Under which branch did you serve? I happen to know several people who served in the U.S. Army and consider themselves Militia now that they are retired. My Uncle served as an Airborne Ranger in WW2 and even took a bullet through the chest and lie in freezing snow all night bleeding until his platoon found him the next day. The American Militia has many brave people who served in the "REAL ARMY" and even teach and contribute much knowlege to the modern Militia.

My recomendation would be not to join a public militia, although alot of them are a beautiful demostration of liberty. I would simply recomend asserting your rights as an American citizen to own and bare arms, just grab a group of friends and go target practice at the local gun range
