Hey, I was in an old church in Wuhan a few years ago. The church had been converted into a night club, with the alter being the stage, all the pews we're removed. There was an atrium in the front of the building. I believe the church was built about 1913 there abouts.
I donno, I want to be a music producer in hong kong/china after college, but it just seems that the rock scene isnt great there so I donno....maybe japan? I'm glad to see atleast somewhat modern band here. They weren't very good imo, but still better than alot of crap ive seen.
That is an awesome video for that game! Anyone here Halo Fans? I bet most of you are. I'm getting my copy of Halo 3 for free at halo3.wantsDOTit(replace DOT with .) I also get a free xbox 360 elite system.
Everyone better go get there copy for free too at:
I highly recommend the documentary "Beijing Bubbles" about the Beijing underground rock scene. It played at Montreal's Fantasia festival. Anyway I've been looking to discover Chinese rock and I'm glad to see I could find some in Wuhan!
I was there.I was in another band that played that night. We sucked because my guitar was broken and I was so high on life.Whatever.I had a hell of a lot of fun that night. I think for a lot of us in the Wuhan scene it's not about money or getting laid. It's about how much you laugh. Maybe some don't understand that.
There's good rock everywhere. I remember back when I was a kid there was a really good chinese rock band that I could never find. They had alot of energy.
Well, the music sucks in Wuhan and the food is bad and the University looks like a prison. The people look exceedingly boring and the street scenes are dismal. What am I missing? Are there any redeeming factors about WuHan life you've been withholding?
It takes a lot of courage in China to do something so "Antisocial" as start a band. I can't imagine the pressure these kids face from their parents in doing this.
In Beijing, once rock got "too popular" the government cracked down on it because they feared it would get "out of control."

Anybody know if this place is still a night club?

Vox bar is generally a great place to see bands if you don't mind paying a 25-30 kuai cover.

WuHan university used to be a prison, hence the reason it looks like one. Still one of the top 6 university's in the country

Vox has moved across the street from their old location, bigger place, but sadly they are more like a club now than a bar.
