  • I remember seeing them in the mid seventies a couple of times as a kid. I wish I'd been old enough to see them at the Broadoak Hotel, Ashton under Lyne where Fivepenny Piece on Stage was recorded (which I have on vynyl)

  • I remember these as a kid watching Sit Thi Deawn with the Houghton Weavers, a lancashire folk show which the Fivepenny Piece would often guest. This show was quite popular, all the kids were singing these songs at school

  • This is from Fivepenny Piece Live on Stage (a fantastic album that's not available on CD). It includes Lancashire Lyne, The Hencote, My Brudda Sylvest. Keep Yer 'and on yer 'alfpenny, If I were a Carpenter and others. How do we get it released on CD?

  • Wow ! Wish I knew - this is the same album I used to have on cassette tape. Would LOVE to own it on a CD. Keep yer 'and and Hencote were our particular faves !

  • Really enjoyed this - Fivepenny Piece was a firm favourite of my hubby who sadly died 6 years ago. Please, please have you got Keep yer 'and on yer 'apenny in your collection ? • I grew up this group, we had it on cassette, unfortuantely due to wear it snapped and broke. I've never been able to find a copy, all the cd's I've found are not the recording we had. Anyone know where I can get hold it, its the one with the battle of hastings, down at our school and my brother sylvest on? I would be extremely grateful.

    Thanks

  • I had the same tape lol and I love the songs, sadly my tape broke too. I think that the 'my brother sylvest' song is on itunes, because I know that it's on one of the CD's I have which is available on itunes

  • I'd love a CD of the 5PP aswell!! Could it be arranged?

  • if not in a shop , certain to get one on the internet .

  • I live in Brazil but was born in Warrington Lancs. Fivepenny piece records just don't exist over here (I couldn't find any when I was last over there in England). Keep 'em coming please, and thanks, it was great to hear them again.

  • i will do some more shortly .

  • Ta very much.

Seriously I think that you are doing a fantastic job. I would pay at least double for a CD of fivepenny piece (if it was available). I had two K7 tapes of them, but they were pinched from my car whilst I was sunbathing on Copacabana beach in Rio, including the K7 player.

There are two songs my wife and I particularly like (if you have them). The titles were:

"Cum fer your Tea" and the other was, "Stalybridge station". I'm not sure if the titles are correct.

    thanks anyway
