  • You, sir, are f'ing AWESOME.

  • i love the drum rolls (toms) that you do its great

  • I have to compliment your videos i made a couple simple drum covers and still screw them up, i guess i'm not good in front of a camera but you have very well tuned drums and i compliment you on that

  • Awesome, Amazing!

  • this is and will be the most epic 18 minute song in history. god its so good

  • @jemmani22 Yeah, it's pretty amazing. I guess I better get to work on the other thirteen and a half minutes. Maybe this week -- oh, sorry, Christmas! It'll be my New Years' resolution! Learn and perform all of Cygnus II and 2112. The two most requested songs on my youtube page!

  • @jemmani22 I would not post it if it was not accurate!

  • do you have the rest of hemispheres?

  • @jndillaha I'll probably do it in the future with this top view.

  • @Pauliewanna

cool. will you try to make it as accurate as possible?

  • No...Paulie does it his own way (the opposite). Neil used his left hand on the snare.

  • Its like Neil was trying to make it impossible for someone else to play!!! Awesome job.

  • Pauliewanna, do you find Neil's earlier work (up to Grace Under Pressure) to be more difficult and technical than his newer and latest work, or is Neil as much a challenge now as he was then ?

  • @synculus I would say up until Presto, his parts were much busier and therefore a little more difficult to remember. His skill level has definitely increased over the years and he tends to repeat himself a little less, within an album for the past few. He still has pet 'tools' that he uses within each albums and once you can master them, it's just a question of learning the songs. His earlier stuff is much more 'in your face', but later work more mature and developed.

  • By-Tor & the Snow Dog Love to see you open class on that one.

  • seriously bro, your well studied in the school of Neil. Great job!

  • Oh My God Once Again Paulie! This I Believe Is THE Greatest Song/Composistion Written By Lee,Lifeson & Peart! Not Only A From A "Players Perspective", but also A "Listener's Perspective" as This Paticular Cut Has Always Taken Me To A Magic or "Special Place in My Mind" only This Song Seems to Really "Get Me There"! Long Before I Was Good Enough on Guitar To Even Attempt To Play It! This is The "Mecca" of Rush Songs If You Ask Me!

  • my fav rush song! nice job!

  • Great job!

  • Oh man, I think you completely nailed it. Wonderful cover dude.

  • very accurate

  • I love all your videos man! I could sit down and watch all your vids for days! Great stuff! Would be cool to see you play the whole song, one of my favorites for sure. I know it would be really tiring though. Keep up the good work, I hope to get a new drum kit soon and start getting into it, but money is a huge issue. lol

  • the very beginning where lifeson hammers those F# chords is in 15/8, not 12/8 like the sheet music says. Do you agree with me??

  • I have no idea what sheet music you are referring to. I just count it in 4/4 for the first 8 bars.

  • lol...Rush fucking owns, kid. Get used to it. Given the choice to preserve the life of his or her Rush CDs or the life of your family, anyone with a shred of taste would choose the former. 8)

  • did neil do that with his right hand at 0:29

  • I don't know. I just find it much easier to do that way.

  • ok thanks

  • pretty damn accurate man. this song is really hard. amazing song though, of course

  • Fuck the bullshit critique comments... very well done. I enjoyed the entire video. yea, I am they!

  • Very nice drumming!Hi-Hat level a bit 2 high but we all 4-get 2 check levels some times.Great cover!!!!!!Keep posting...

  • One thing I hear thought is your high hat is too loud. You might try to move your mic away a little bit but hay thats just me.

  • I have been playing drums for a long time and I have seen lots of people play and my God you just blow me away i tip my hat to ya.

  • I thought this song was called Hemispheres

  • According to my cd and album cover, its full title is: "Cygnus X-1: Book II" and then it shows "hemispheres" underneath as if THAT is the title of the five parts. Dunno!

  • see, everyone? is that amazing? the best drummer niel peart... NOT bonham, although he was really good too... AMAZING VID!!! MY HERO!! lol possibly my favorite rush song rite here

  • I'm really looking forward to when you finish the rest of this song, 'tis my favorite Rush song! I watched most of your Rush videos, truly amazing! It is always great to see somebody else out there that has to like Rush as much as I do! You really nail almost every song, I can't believe it!

  • Nice work. How recent is this?

    Benjamin

    keyboards

  • Jan 6th, 2008.

  • i have found to be this song, rush's most complicated on drums, i might be wrong though, this vid helped me learn some bits, thanks man!

  • I found Cygnus: Part 1 to be much harder to learn on drums, but that may be because I just LOVE book II and I am much more naturally drawn to it, so it didn't seem that bad. I'm currently working on the last 15 minutes of it.

  • Great job bro! You are a great drummer. And this is coming from a guy who has played for 40 years!

  • Awesome Job! I have been a Rush fan since 1975 and have air drummed this a million times. You nailed it!

  • That was awesome. I am a huge Rush fan, and you played that perfect.

  • excellent job man!

  • Awesome! Do you do any Dream Theater?

  • just wondering, why do you have your other china cymbal all the across from your other one... i dont know if any other drummers do that but... remember i asked you to play mystic rhythm? it'll be kinda hard to reach over that fast, from one china cymbal to another.. i dont maybe u can do it...

  • Actually, Neil actually played two different chinas on either side when he played it live and in the video. The reason I have a china on either side is purely for versatility. I basically have as much stuff on left as on right so that I can use either hand to hit any kind of sound. The only thing I don't have on my left is a second ride cymbal.

  • damn i love that ride cymbal! i played at guitar center and i loved it! i bought the crash instead :( ...too expensive

  • i never heard all of the Rush songs, im mostly into their older stuff, like 2112 or fly by night, stuff like that, some of moving pictures, but some of their newer stuff...doesnt really "rock" as much. no offense to rush. they are awesome and neil peart is my favorite drummer.

  • Yo That was excellent. You pay such attention to detail. Perfect Job A+

  • fuck yeah

  • Niiiiiiiiice job!!!! Keep up the great work.

  • Another stellar job.. I'm wondering what part 2 is going to be like.
