This is called a BAND ORGAN. its NOT a calliope. This can be called a "Fair organ" or "Band organ" please change the video tittle. THe name of the organ is trudy. Anglerfly posted videos of it at conneaut lake park.
Trudy is wonderful! And LOUD, of course! I saw Wasson and Trudy at a band organ rally in Ocean Shores, WA. Trudy comprises the many pipes you see (incl. reeds with wood resonators) snare and bass drum, cymbal with tap and crash, and a glockenspiel. He has now built a machine to punch rolls and a computer program to run it. Behind the organ is an automatic six-roll changer, also his work.
I heard this tune at one of the COAA play-along concerts this summer. I'm pretty sure Mr. Wasson announced it as "The Caravan Club". I truly believe the best place to listen to this organ is in the back by the roll frame, right under the big trombones!
I used to see and hear "Trudy" all the time at band organ rallies in Southern California. Then Mr. Wasson moved back east and he's serenading the public at rallies out there! A very fine instrument!
That is "Trudy", a fairground organ designed and scratch built by David Wasson. It was started in the mid 1980s and is now more or less finished. Mr. Wasson (in the whit e hat) arranges and punches all the music rolls himself!
I have personally seen Trudy and it is, bar none, the greatest achievement in the art of orchestion I have ever heard. And the arrangements that David does are, well, so very wonderful. I don't know where he is now, but should he view this, helloooo from Illinois!
