I don't think the arctic will be ice free by summer 2012. There are times when earth cools and warms, and now were in a time of warming, and soon earth will cool down again and ice levels will be back to normal, earth will have an ice free summer one year, but not in 2012, look at a video showing the earth plates, its called 650 million years in under 2 minutes, it also shows the ice, and most of the time theres no ice, so the poles already show enough proof that were in a cool period!
