can i use the airport express to extend the range of a cisco e3000, or is it only capable of extending the range of the airport extreme??? PLEASE REPLY
Hey i am getting a macbook pro 13'' in summer. i have a dekstop pc with a wireless modem so do i need airport or sumthing like that to connect to use it with my macbook pro 13'' ???????? (wirelessly) ?
@MrGCFilms The Apple Airport Express is either a wireless access point or wireless extender. Plus it is a printer server, airtunes broadcaster and a NAS (without a hard drive).
could i connect the ap express to my laptop using an ethernet cable and bridge the two connections wirelessly so i could use the internet connection on it rather than having it by the modem?
Once connected to a modem for Internet connection, it surely works with a Wii, and I'd say wit a DSi, too (never tested the portable consolle, though).
Haha, your electricity setup looks kinda fire sensitive. I would place a fire extinguisher next to it :p Don't try to hook up your Christmas tree to that power network! ;)
Haha, first your gonna develop a brain tumor from all that wireless data bashing through your brain, then just when you think it couldn't get any worse you'll burn because of all those cables going into one socket. Life can be a b*tch!
Well ive tried that and it still doesnt seem to work. So i might have to go to The apple store and ask them if they can help me, cause i have run out of ideas. I checked out youtube vids on how to connect the printers on Mac's, But still no luck. thanx anyways.
it's a wireless access point. you can use it to create a wifi network (attached to an ethernet modem if you wanna surf the web) or to exted the range of an existing wifi network (better if based on an apple-made router)
I have an AP Extreme connected to the modem (in the kitchen) and the Express is connected to an iMacG3 via Ethernet. So it provides network and internet access to the iMac (plus the wireless printing and the AirTunes things).
If I'm a PC user and wanted to print wireless, will I still have to install the printer on my laptop with the printer's installation CD or will I be able to print immediately after I install the airport extreme without installing the printer on my laptop?
okay, this is kinda stupid...why, at 3:30 into the video, she adds the caption "F*UCK OFF"....what's w/ the asterisk???? now, correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't those little characters to replace a letter? so, it would read "F**K OFF" instead of "FUCK OFF"??????????? just thought i'd mention it....
i had an extreme base station and i extended its range with the express base station.
in the setup program for the bases (airport utility) you can choose if your current base is a "stand alone" one or if it's extending an existing range.
simply select the current base, and then choose if it is a primary, a remote or a bridge one.
Those plugs look so sturdy i guess its because of the long prongs the power part it on the end maybe it is some kind of safety thing made years and years ago.
hey man, i just got mine yesterday :) but ive got a problem.. i cant join my wireless network :( do u know why??? i cant even join with my time capsule x__X hope u could help me with AP express
hi! I know that i can extend the range of my wireless conexion with the airport express. but can i do it using a linksys wireless router or i got to have the airport extreme?
so wait how did you set it up? do you have the extreme in one room. then plug in the xpress in another, hook up the printer via usb and that was it? the mac recoginzed the printer immediatly? is the box actually purple or blue? cant tell
Sorry for stupid question. But I thought the Base Station alone allows you to share printers between other PC's/Macs wirelessly. Now I have to buy the Express as well?
5 stars and a question, I know with Apple products setup tends to be VERY straight forward, still I'm just curious how easy was it to set this thing to pick up the current wi-fi signal from your Extreme and amplify it?
I got one yesterday, .. and the color of the inside box of mine aiport express is light blue, and yours seem to be light violet. Is it the video.. o your box it's different than mine? cool video!
- i use the express as an extension of the main access point (extreme), but i'm pretty sure u can use this as the main access point.
- i placed the express near my mum's pc, so she can unplug the printer from the AP Express and print via usb. place it far form microwaves and cordless phones.
can i use the airport express to extend the range of a cisco e3000, or is it only capable of extending the range of the airport extreme??? PLEASE REPLY
Thanks!!

So if i get airport exspress and i have a wii and i wana go online you know set the internet up does the airport work for the wii ???
dxtriplehh67 2 years ago
In my test it worked flwlessly. Remember that the Airport needs to be hooked up to a cable or dsl modem via Ethernet in order to go online.

pokefrend 2 years ago
Pretty much any modem that can be connected via Ethernet to the Airport
andreatunes 2 years ago
so can i go with my wii wifi via the airport
pokefrend 2 years ago
As I told you earlier, once the AirPort is connected to a modem via Ethernet, you can use it to go online with any wifi enabled device.

Yep

hey, i just got one of these and im just wondering one thing, can i connect to it while staying connected to my normal wireless router?
jlim0 2 years ago
I don't think so. You gotta switch from one to another.
I use it as a bridge for my network, so the express and the extreme work like thy were just one device.

Do you absolutely need this to print wireless with a mac? cause i cant seem to connect mine. HELP
darkmurcielago 3 years ago
Not really.
Most printers (I'd say 99%) work on the Mac.
Check out you've installed the correct drivers!

Is the ethernet port only for a modem, or can I connect a computer to it for internet access?
DiggerOwl 3 years ago
Welll, it depends.
My AP Express is a network extension.
I have an AP Extreme connected to the modem (in the kitchen) and the Express is connected to an iMacG3 via Ethernet. So it provides network and internet access to the iMac (plus the wireless printing and the AirTunes things).

Sure. Buy the AirPort Express Base Station, plug a modem via Ethernet into it andafter a very quick setup you're ready to go!
andreatunes 3 years ago
if i got one would i have to plug the speakers into my laptop or would it be wireless??
gmailfantube 3 years ago
Just plug any 3,5" jack equipped speakers into the Base Station, then select the speakers in iTunes and you're ready to go!
Thanks for watching.

In my experience I can say that installing the drivers on the computer (Mac or PC) is always a good idea, whether if you print via USB or wirelessly.

You know, you can use airport express as wifi extender for airport extreme... But it only extends the signal for Apple made routers...

chance, i called apple and they said the latest models support 3rd party routers to extend wireless networks such as Linksys routers.

why cant they just make one manual with everything in it instead of making 5 diferent ones that get lost and mixed up with others

because there are different manuals for different languages (italian is only in pdf format).

try to reset the new base station.
then replug it and reconfigure it from the beginning.
andreatunes 3 years ago
so you need an airport extreme then you can buy a aiport express to extend the range only or can you use it as an individual router? Thanks
macmastery 4 years ago
you can set up a wireless network just with an airport express. obviously the extreme is more "versatile".
i strongly suggest you to go to the apple website and check this out.
andreatunes 4 years ago
you can use it as a router without airport extreme

officially the AP base stations can cooperate only with an apple wireless system, but u can find some tips on line.
try to learn more..
thanks for ur comment

Brnboy313 4 years ago
exactly: the one u described is my set up!
and yes, this is how i configured my express with my usb printer and my remote speakers.
the box is blue, it seems purple because of my webcam.

don they give u an ip for it or some website? so u could type it in the url and set it up or use the cd? I dunno I own an ordinary alternative.
mongoosecage 4 years ago
can you hook up an external hard drive using the usb plug? or is it just for a printer?
DjGslyde 4 years ago
no hard drives, just printers with the Express.
If u wanna plug an external hard disk in u have to buy the Extreme, wich is really amazing (and a lil bit expensive).
andreatunes 4 years ago
im really confused about this lol
but if u plug ur ethernet into the bottom of the AP express from your DSL modem can u get a wireless connection?
because im sick of plugging my laptop in all the time.
thanxx =)
Kaboom214 4 years ago
sure.
once u plug a modem into the AP express u get the wireless internet connection for just $ or € 99.
andreatunes 4 years ago
can you set up a connection with just the express?????
NYR1668 4 years ago
sure u can.
just plug an ethernet DSL or cable modem into the ethernet port on the bottom side of the AP Express and in 5 to 10 minutes u r ready to go.
More details? go to appledotcomslashairportexpress

Sorry for stupid question. But I thought the Base Station alone allows you to share printers between other PC's/Macs wirelessly. Now I have to buy the Express as well?

you can have just one of the basse station from apple.
they both allow u to share printers

thank for your comment(s) and for the 5stars.
it has been really, really simple to set up the expres as a bridge, as a remote base station.
but ine day it stopped working.
i resetted it, but noway..
i called an assistance center, they had my express per almost 1 month, they returned it to me saying it was all fine, no problems during the tests.
i re-setted up it and now it's working extremely good.
