Highly intelligent and sensitive remarks, like the playing itself. After this lovely, poetic and exemplary performance, even Richter sounds studied, laboured and mannered. If Schumann's music doesn't have this apparently improvisatory quality, it can often seem less than inspired - or so it seems to me.
I don´t think this playing is as clear as Horowitz´

Perhaps what is most remarkable here is that he injects so much freedom and subjectivity in this without it seeming like it is so.
Very tricky...Perhaps derived from years of living freely amidst so much restraint silently impinging from every angle...
