A fraction too slow. More focus needed on shaping phrases, and less on singing each beat in a plodding manner. No hand movements in arie antiche. More dynamic variation needed. Nice voice, though. Exciting potential.
I agree that you have a great teacher but also you have a beautiful instrument. So, the first, plus the second, equals great singing. Of course it takes a lot of discipline too. All the best! Keep on posting videos. You have another fan here;)
Wow. My vocal teacher wants me to sing this and I'm not sure if I can. . . at least not as good as you! Are you studying to be an opera singer because you'd become one easily with such a magnificent voice! =D
(This may sound weird but a person I was chatting with sent me this vid like 20 minutes ago... I'm tryna reconnect with that person so BLAKE READ THIS IT'S EUN AE!)
You have a beautiful voice. Staves 20 to 21 you forgot the whole note and the quarter rest but I still enjoyed ur performance! Your pianist covered very well for you. BTW, I'm a pianist and have played this many times. Thanks for sharing!
well your hitting the right notes but Dynamics? you nearly shouted the entire piece, also try singing rubato, it makes a good impression and you look more professional, that is if your rehearse with the same pianist
The style of this music does not use much dynamic as far as crescendos or decrescendos. You would sing more terraced dynamics with repeated text or musical ideas. Plus, with young singers, many voice teachers would agree you should learn to produce the voice correctly THEN work on piano singing. But this doesn't excuse not using ANY dynamics ever. As far as rubato, again, the style of the song would not have much tempo change ever.
congratulations great job and if this was your first performance you have double merit. You really have a lot of potential,do not pay attention to the critics this is a matter of your voice teacher and you.
You did very well but i think you should have told your teacher that by making ur voice bigger it sounded like you were forcing every note out. It wasn't a bad sound but to a trained ear it can be a little painful but other then that you did great but soften up on the italian too haha but thats the last i have!
Excellent job! In my opinion, I hear this song as being much lighter, gentler and not feeling like it's 300 pounds. ANYway, I agree with some of the other commenters on here that you need to relax! I know what it's like to be up on stage. Beautiful Italian, just soften up your t's a little, making them dental. I'd also like to hear some more use of dynamics.
Overall, great job; it takes guts to sing in front of people like that.
Looking forward to hearing more of your singing on youtube!
I completely agree that it should be more delicate. We even spoke about that while I was learning the piece. However, my teacher wanted me sing with a larger voice so that I really could focus on the technique of a more operatic sound. Thank you for the kind words though and the advice, definitely taken to heart.
"Technique of a more operatic sound" does not equal "larger voice"! It takes more skills to properly sing piano than forte. You may listen to CD's of Beniamino Gigli and observe how he, a great operatic singer in the 20th century with a NOT SMALL voice, sang arie antiche.
Agreed. This was also my first song ever that I had sung in which I was attempting to utilize that sound. So my teacher wanted my to go over the top so I really understood what it meant because I before this I had nothing close to this sound. Figuring it was better to give more than less while in the learning process. It's by no means perfect. Haha. Thank you though and I hope you keep listening. :D
Your teacher is absolutely correct. You have to learn how to sing out before you can master the mezza voce. It sounds like you have a big-ish voice, I wouldn't start caging it up until you're completely comfortable with your technique.
Beautiful voice -- amazing potential! But it sounds here like you are shouting the whole piece. Try to lighten the voice a little more and vary your dynamics.
your face is intense...try to relax although i know that recitals are nerve-wrecking Also work on that posture you seem to like to tilt and also the way your hands are it seems like you are about to hurt someone or something. Nice breath support and work on those dynamics if you start off that loud you could take your audience off-guard and they could lose interest. I do love your voice though and i hope to hear more!
lovely sound. don't get to tense in the face. and relax ur breath. and don't worry too much bout the interpretaion. have a solid technique and then performance comes last. oh and really breath into that last note. don't fade out the intensity. great voice and keep going. im a freshman going sophomore music student in texas by the way. i think ur a lot better than i was this year.
Very nice. All of the notes were on key. However, it sounded like you were scolding someone! LOL. Try lightening up your voice a little. This is a beautiful song about love so keep that theme in mind when you sing. Also, try using some dynamics. It will really add to the performance. Great job!
first off great tone great breath support but i reccomend that when you start the song start it Pianissimo and work yourself up to the forte it has more of a effect i simply suggest this because just as dre said if you rip out of the gate you have no where to go dynamically
anyways great performance
i give it a I
you are an awesome singer and i look forward to hearing more of you on youtube
good job,GREAT TONE!you seem tense from the raising of your hands.I am like that to and i think its tough to work on.a few things that helped me when i sang this song is to concentrate on the vowels, this song really shows off your voice's power and charisma.focus on what this song really means and deliver it to the audience with correct dynamics and emotion and those booming notes will really show off your talent than using all of your power threw the whole song. i hope this helps you out.
i really should make another recording of this song. lol.

this was alright, but just at teh sprezza part, you kind of lost a little bit of your breath.and you rushed it a little bit.
but it's alright,I'm learning this as my nyssma piece, and i have that breathing problem so it's alright (:
and the altramer part, was a little hard to understand.
and it sounds a little bland without dynamics.
but overall it was good (:

you could ease up on some parts...if you rip out of the gate, the piece has no where to go dynamically and dynamics are important.

But I think it could be more ''dolce''.
It's very important to keep your self on the stile of the song.
