@Polarbearr1 sometime they are like guitar with a hollow body or with single coil pickups and sometimes without high output humbuckers you cant get a nice metal distortion humbuckers work nice with clean tones like for reggae and when i said you cant do metal with an sg i was talking about the pickups, active pickups are made to give a high gain distortion but not the humbuckers in an sg. i mean i like sg's pickups sound for clean or with a crunch distortion but not for metal

or buy a Dave Mustaine Signature Series Dean..even his entry level guitars sound halfway decent, I have the United Abominations, Endgame, and Classic Black Singature V and they can definitely all hold their own..nothing compared to a guitar with some Seymour Duncan's but Dean definitely knows how to make a good guitar..although I would definitely prefer a Gibson Flying V or Explorer..I guess I buy whatever sounds good enough for the right price..haha
