  • Actually Huckster had that backwards. 91% of United Health's customers are not happy with their service.

  • What I would like to know is if private industry is soooo great why do we have 32 million Americans most of them hardworking cause welfare usually does offer some kind of healthcare it is working people that don't have it, why 62% of all bankruptcies due to medical issues , why the cost higher than any country, and why has it just kept getting worse with every de-reg the repubs passed ??????????

  • Does anyone else think that Huckabee looks like Gomer Pyle?

  • Whatever side you're on.. using profanity makes the side you're fighting for look illiterate.

  • Whatever side you're on... Getting caught up in minor details is just petty.

  • I agreed with huckabee on a last episode he did, he said that the whole process is taking to long and wasting to much money.. I would have to agree with him.. this is wasting alot of money. I rather just pay my health care now.

  • Oh no, you´re wrong buddy.

Private insurance only use about 80 % of the money to actually treat individuals, while the rest pays for administrative costs and/or are taken as profit.

This public option however will only use 1 or 2% for administrative costs.

  • i find it funny how yur so athiest and claim freedom and yet u support a communist dictatership under obama. he is a racist, communist, acorn fanatic, tax raising dictator who is worse then bush

  • Obama is a communist? xD

Dude he´s not even trying to force socialized medicine, but he just tries to give a public option.

Besides how can he be a racist and a communist at the same time? Those two aren´t really compatible.

  • obama IS trying to force socialized medicine. he ridicules republicans about their "inability to cooperate" while offering no other plan. he tries to cover it up with speeches that claim he is looking for new ideas and trying to agree with one another. yet in congress after much deligation he once again preposed socialized healthcare despite republican alternative plans. furthermore, if socialized was even suppported by libs it would have passed by now due to overwhelming libs in congress.

  • Dude, these corporations will still make big profits. The only difference is that they have to actually start to compete for the customers by provideding better care.

You will win on it, even if you stick with private insurance.

BTW... ALL politicians in america are cowards and if a group of people are acting like dicks and compare the president to hitler, that group will intimidate the politicians to slow down reforms.

  • @TheSandreGuy I like the healthcare reform passed better than single payer, it is very very similiar to the healthcare reform passed in Switzerland in 1994 and everyone had all kinds of dire predictions just like this reform and it barely passed but it is working well. Everyone has healthcare and they did not have to settle for less quality and lower services like sometimes happens with single payer and it has been a boon to the economy in Switzerland instead of a drain on the economy.

  • @TheSandreGuy And Huckabee IT IS NOT A GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER . the states are to run it and it is based on private industry just like in Switzerland. Why can't you politicians just be honest to the people for a change. There are plenty of things to question just like they did in Switzerland without a bunch of silly rhetoric misleading people . Please we want some honesty from republicans instead of all this knee jerk fear mongering nonsense.

  • Great video. And Huckabee is a lying dick. He's as bad as the mental patients on Fox "News." Rev. Bookburn - Radio Volta

  • Geesh... You´re just getting more annoying with every comment.

What do you define as a "fundy atheist"?

  • NOw into politics too. haha. I love it. healthcare will ultimately eliminate the private option. Not right away but eventually they will lose their business. Another Nobama sheep who wants the Government to control his life. What a suprise. Sandre, You want to see a liar, look in the mirror and get your facts right. Fail x 3

  • Huckleberry is a stupid dick. He wants Walmart to run health care and thinks they can do a better job than the hospital system we presently have? He is saying that the gov can't be trusted to do anything but he is a politician. That is like going to a doctor and having the doctor warn you that doctors can't be trusted before he gives you open heart surgery. lol this guy is a joke.

  • The only thing that is a joke is that you cannot hear what he is really saying. He clearly said that he was kidding and did not want Walmart to run HC. Open your ears and don't hear only what you want to hear. He was using hyperbole to make a point. The point was that private industries, such as walmart, can give us better competition and prices than the government would be able to provide, without taxing us to death first.

  • Not really true, because its known that privat companies make deals with each other so they can have local monopolies guranteeing that they can take high prices. That happend here in Germany in the engery and gas sector a few years ago. Its strange that the prices are sky high, despite the fact you guys have competiton in healthcare due to privat insurance. Seems like there is no real competiton, so the best would be for the goverment to step in, something you dont want.

  • Yeah you are right and that is why we have the cheapest health care prices in the world. Go back to sleep you sheep. I will wake you next time your moron Repub party is back in charge. It might be a long sleep tho. moron

  • I´m hardly a sheep of Obama. I think he´s to concerned about his PR. Besides he doesn´t really do anything revolutionairy with the public option.

Here in sweden we have FULLY socialized healthcare, and we´re far from being in huge debt, or being a dictatorship. So you fail once again

  • YOu fail simply by being a non American speaking on American issues. I said nothing about debt. I was speaking of the private insurance agencies that will go out of business as a result of this. Fail. x4

  • Oh but you were gonna try to clobber me with that retarded "we´ll be in debt" slippery slope argument eventually anyway.

I promise you I know a lot more about this reform than your pathetic excuse for a brain does.

Do you have to be from Ethiopia to think that starvation in that country is bad?

LOL you are fucking pathetic xD

People in your nation are dying because they are being excluded treatment by these insurance companies, since they can´t afford the cost.

  • WTF is with that guy.

  • I love it. Republicans fuck up the government, then they point to government action and say, "See, the government can't do it!"

Fucking pathetic. What's even more troubling is that most of these GOP fucks are "Christians."

Hey GOP, are you not your brother's keeper? I guess not... hypocrites.

  • how did he get 5 million people uninsured. he said it was 40 million, and about 12 million illegals.

But then again, this is a creationist trying to do math.

  • Wow, Huckabee is making real sense. Cant wait till he beats Obama in 2012. Get this nation back on track. Obama was a fad.

  • Guess so, but if the government wasn't so involved in healthcare, prices would go down. Before Medicaid and Medicare came along, it was common practice for physicians to give free medical care to the poor. It sounds good to cover poor people and retired people, but the fact is they were already covered and medicare/medicaid was a vote-getting tactic. It's a nice luxury to have, unfortunately we just can't afford it or social security or a huge military budget.

  • 91%?

There are around 350M people in the US. If 5M are uninsured, that's 1.4%. That would mean 98.6% have insurance.

Someone can't keep track of the numbers they just made up on the spot.

  • I wonder how many years of health care could be paid for with what was spent in one year in IRAQ

  • Well, the war in Iraq from 2003 to 2008 cost roughly $600 billion. The cost of Medicare and Medicaid last year was $632 billion. So it's more like one year of Medicaid and Medicare costs more than a 5-year war.

  • I guess Its cheaper to kill people than to keep them alive.

  • It was always cheaper to kill people then to keep them alive, its a sad fact. A bullet costs 50 Cent to 1 dollar in production, an AK rifle costs maybe 500 Dollars (if you want an M16 it costs 1200 dollars), while and Doctor costs 15.000 dollar and more to train him, his equtiment costs 120.000 dollar and the staff he has costs also a lot of cash etc.

So yeah, death is cheap these days.....

  • Well yes, but now add the cost of the war in Afganishan and all the other operations on the War on Terror and you would have enough money to cover medicare for more then that. Seeing how gigantic the budget of the US Armed Forces is tells you where your tax money is going.

  • Not really. The total cost of the combined wars is roughyly $900 billion, so if we didn't have two wars, we could have paid for medicare/medicaid for about 17 months.

  • Well, yeah, true that. But both wars arent over yet, so this whole thing will eat up more money with the years to come. Iraq may be over in 2011 or something, but no idea about Afganhistan.

But yes so far both wars "only" costed 900 Billion Dollars, but this figre will rise with the time.

  • And so will Medicare. They estimate that by 2040, social security and medicare alone will eat up the entire budget. It's nice to have Medicare, but the simple fact is that we cannot afford it. Or Social Security. Or the War on Terror. Or any other shit that the government decides to throw money at.

  • Illegal aliens or not, they are human beings. And besides whining about illegal aliens, you can look at your illegal war (Iraq) as it sucks down taxpayers money down to obvlivian.

  • The illegal aliens line is just another conservative propaganda point. The new bill _obviously_ says nothing about free cover for illegals. That'd be crazy.

To start with they're not registered so how would they apply? No social security # obviously means you can't apply for any government service.

  • Another way of looking at it is...

Walmart = Public option... Cheaper alternative?

    Just a thought.

  • The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it. - P. J. O'Rourke

It seems ironic that the largest peace time expansion of USA government occurred under G Bush Jr. The recent hand outs take corporate welfare to a new level both in size and because a functionary rather than congress is making the bequests.

  • It's obvious from the results of health care in the USA, in comparison to other countries, that the way it is is administered is bad from the standpoint of the patient and the doctor, but quite profitable for those that are interposed between. Unfortunately, it's these middlemen that are most likely to fund political campaigns. I expect there will be much talk with little result, except for campaign contributions, that is.

  • You know, I dont get you Americans, at all. I am a German and we have a universal healthcare system, its not perfect but it works. We are actually afraid we would get LESS socalism and you guys complain about a public option? I dont get you guys! Why are you against a more social society, a more social goverment?

I mean, for fucks sake, there are people in your country that need 2 jobs so they can pay the insurance! A little bit of socalism isnt that bad, really.

  • Half of us don't get the half you're referring to, you know. More, really; Obama won, after all.

That said, I believe their concerns run somewhere along the lines of "Oh-Em-Gee, it's 1982 and the red's er takin over tha countree!"

Or, at least, that's the most I've heard backed up with reliable sources. None of the other claims about the proposal seem to stand up to reasonable scrutiny.

  • It has to do with one thing. Liberty. The thing our country was founded on. The notion that the individual can make better decisions as to what is best for them. Not some so-called representative of government saying what they need.

With that said, its not as if we shouldn't care about those who aren't insured or are downtrodden, it's just that the government shouldn't be the one to take care of them. The community and friends and family and churches should take care of each other.

  • Urm, you dont understand: the goverment will not tell you what todo in this case, you still can freely choose your doctor and your hospital and whatnot, its just that the Goverment pays for it. The communites and chruches can only help so much and there are people right now who need healthcare but cant afford it because the cost is too high and that despite the competiton in the privat insurance sector republicans rave about so much. Goverment is the only way here.

  • The problem with a single payer plan is that it detracts from my liberty. Taking my money (ie taxes) in order to pay for other people's health without my consent does that. If I have a friend who needs some money to pay for something then I will most likely give him how much I can, but it is from my choosing.

That is the crux of it. Healthcare is not guarenteed as a right in our constitution, and so for the government to force everyone to pay for other people's health is not constiutional.

  • I dont think everything has to be in the consetution to make it right. We are talking about a more social society here and guranteeing that people dont die due to your taxes is omsething I feel is a good thing. I am german, we also pay taxes so others can get healthcare, I dont really mind that because its a social thing to do for me. Also, with the taxes you also pay your own healthcare not only the healthcare of others. That is a misinformation you got there.

  • Exceptional care? xD

You must be some Rush Limbaugh fan or something to believe something so obviously false to be correct.

  • Umm not exactly. I don't care for Rush, Hannity, or other talking heads.

But nice try. I'm sure you are a fan of Olbermann, Maddow, and etc.

  • Not really a fan of Olbermann, he is kinda biased too. But at least he has egmit it.

  • Very good points. What part of Germany did you visit last Summer?

  • Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig, Nurnberg, Heidelberg, and Munich. So a little bit of everything. I hope to go back next summer, it's a very beautiful place. I'm just glad that most speak better english there than I do German!

  • Yes, you are right. Germany is a beautiful country and you have certainly gotten a good sampling. Enjoy your trip back.

  • Yes, just like the SCHIP program pays for FREE medical care. The only problem is that they pay so little that most doctors won't treat people under the plan, forcing 70% of the participants in SCHIP into the emergency room when they need care. Medicare is starting to do the same thing in order to cut costs, making it difficult for people to get care under medicare unless they have expensive supplemental plans to pay what Medicare doesn't.

  • One can buy anything from Walmart. Even Mr Huckabee i shouldn't wonder...I think their slogan is "Save money - Live better"

  • My previous comment was meant to be a piss take of Walmart and Huckabee...Oh well never mind eh!

  • This truly makes me sick.....

  • Rightfully so.

  • This really makes me sad. This is so centered around cost when it should be centered around the well-being of people.

I personally did my own math, and the rich get a 1.2% tax increase, and I got that average people get a .085% tax increase. Tell me if that's wrong.

  • Actually it´s more like -0.5% less taxes for the average person :P

  • Hey, could you PM me where you got your dataset for the income per capital curve you'd have had to use? I have numbers I'd like to run too, and it's harder than you think to get reliable statistics without a university login.

  • That stupid smug expression/attitude never fails to turn my stomach. And isn't it ironic that ol mikey wanted to RUN THE GOVERNMENT!!?!?! If he's so negative about them why the FUCK did he try to become president?

  • Yeah exactly.

  • You don't understand; like Glenn Beck, he's been paid a nice sum of money to sing a particular tune. That he comes off as crazy or ignorant or dishonest as a result kind of illustrates how much they believe what they're saying.

I'm not saying he's right, or that he's excusable. I'm saying he's a paid liar.

  • True but you can bet your sweet cheeks that he KNEW what he was getting into. Well better that he's a paid liar than an actual government figure.

  • Oh, most certainly. He probably knew what he was getting into when he signed onto the republican party as a "leader", too.
