@WLFP80 The 1st one was achieved purely accidentally, originally it was supposed to just be a cross fade but some clever person discovered exposing the lens created a cool effect. 2/3 wasn't shown, 3/4 was poor in comparison to the 1st one but from 4/5, proper elecrtronic effects and CGI were used. The current effect is, in my opinion, the definitive regeneration, and it will be used as standard from now on.
It is ten billion pities, that we never got a proper regeneration scene from Troughton to Pertwee. imust say this vid is really good in billions of ways, and it is well done all round.
@rojblake82 That's true :/ but from a production standpoint, it was just impossible to do it. Jon Pertwee wasn't confirmed until a few days after War Games Episode 10 went out, Pertwee's first series would air 6 months later.
no one is too fussed that they didnts show full regeneration into jon pertwee, i tihnk people are more intro a story invovling paul mcgann and christopher eccleston in the time war
@kylephantom4 true, but its doubtful. Eccleston has gone on record saying he'd never come back. Paul McGann would if the script was good sooo maybe we'd get to see the beginning of the regeneration buut not the whole thing...
Btw, you may not be fussed about 2-3... but I am :)
@Trayusstudent1 well that depends, christopher eccleston is a hollywood star now, i bet if it were made in hollywood, and he was offered so much money just for a cameo appearance, then he could, i mean everyone says he left because the people on set were being assholes to him,
@kylephantom4 it was always intended for him to do one series in order to get an audience. David Tennant had been cast pretty early on in production of Series 1. The confusion was when a statement was released saying Eccleston was leaving due to fears of being typecast, this was later denied by Eccleston and RTD. He's refused it not because of money, but because he believes his time as the Doctor is over, and its someone elses turn, check out the interview, Graham Norton's radio show I think?
Not bad. Not bad at all. Although I would have Monolized the Tardis Motor/engine, & tampered with it a little. But very good none the less myy friend.
Its a bit irritatating that we never actually got to see a proper transistion like the 1st Doctor did when Regenerating into 2. Anybody know why? They already had Jon cast as the Doctor so why did they not bother? Its not like they couldnt.
@OwenDWF No, Jon Pertwee hadn't been cast at that point, it was a matter of days after the transmission he was cast. He had been shortlisted at that time and had applied for it, but it wasn't final.
I could've done it all in Black and White but I kinda thought, nah lets go straight into colour! I'm gonna have another go at this one before moving onto fixing that awful transition between 6 and 7!
What were the clips of the tardis coming around the Doctor from?
DoctorWhoFanactic 4 months ago
@DoctorWhoFanactic I actually merged the TARDIS reforming from the end of The Mind Robber with the images of the spinning Doctor from The War Games.

It was a bloody shame we never got, a proper regeneration scene from Patrick Troughton into Jon Pertwee in the War Games.
