What a discovery this woman - Kari - is. The similarities to Gaelic folk singing are self-evident - afterall they're practically connected! to each other (apart from a thin strip of ocean!). So she slots straight into our common Celtic roots - but with a voice to die for...Oh dear - I'v e gone all wobbly again. Must have a lie down!
@zoolkhan ..... but speaks (or rather sings) to the UNIVERSAL soul ! - just listened and got the shivvvvvvers again ! She is a NORDIC DEEELIGHT !! You are very lucky !
@sidarist youre mistaken. If someone uses the word with the intend to insult, okay
that one thing. But limiting the pagan religion to "wicca" or "old faith" is
to the least narrow minded. If you want to feel insulted, thats a rather pesonal problem. its a differentiator, that is used as in spite of a more precise term.
There is no single "the old faith" and "wicca" is a contested term. What about druids? Inka and Native Americans? Africans? Haitians? ... go figure.
@zoolkhan the nordic gods are the asatru's speciality. Very close to the celtics, normans, and teutons..... most of them feel insulted if youd call them wikka
which is widely associated with little superficial emo girls lighting black candles...
"pagan" doesnt have this negative associations. At least not here in the hemisphere
@zoolkhan In this country (UK) and USA Wicca is a new religion (neo-pagan) drawing on many older traditions, being revived by Gerald Gardner in the 1930's. There are many variants who seldom agree with each other. The use of the 'generic' terms Pagan, Neo-Pagan or Wiccan doesn't really tell you a lot!
@sidarist I confess that I don´t like the word pagan, but they say it originally just meant " from the country",while " heathen ",which I prefer for its delicious (anglo-saxon)germanic origin ,was the one used as an insult by western christians.I think we all who follow the old shamanic traditions of all countries should not fight amongst ourselves for these trifles, some people use warlock for male witches but I´ve heard it meant "oathbreaker", a blatant insult to any "witch" !
@punenzin How amazing you should suggest this because I had discovered her only very recently and was 'knocked' out by her - another Nordic 'free spirit' (from the Faroes?). We can't access them over here which is a great shame.
Kari is sublime,I prefer her singing in Norwegian as here, and love most of the songs of Spindelsinn album. However, I´m alsocrazy for her song "I will paint my wings"!
Actually, I believe that the most of them were taken in Iceland. The ones with the horses most definitely are, and I think that Aurora Borealis can be seen in Iceland, not sure about Norway :) But they are marvellous, aren't they?
The northern lights colour the sky Reflect on the ice They say time heals all wounds They say time heals all wounds Seduced by the power of the sight The powerful union of sun and moon Will I be bestowed with the truth? Will I be bestowed with the truth? My mind is an ocean A grave of all thoughts I wanted to give it to you I wanted to give it to you
@MikeUitMokum I just would like to thank you again for the translation : it has meant a lot to me !
Before reading it , I could only try and make out the possible whole meaning by the few words I could get but now I can enjoy the depth and beauty of the lyrics in full !
it's just throughout the song, the first line 'Nordlyset farger himmelen' is in tha playah remix. they've picked out bits of the song mostly towards the start :)
Renata, you have a WONDERFUL TASTE ! Congratulations for that and for putting Kari´s videos here !!!

@zoolkhan pagan is an insult, like calling a black person a n****r, wiccan or old faith believer is better

@jezkn that seems to be true. hence i distance myself from something that tells "not a lot".
