  • Chrome has its own extension of mac osx renderring check it out (:

  • Ive been using this for a very long time now. :)

  • does this work with windows 7?

  • How can I do the reverse? I want ClearType on SnowLeopard. There are plenty of vids to get Mac on Windows but not ClearType on Mac.

  • i dont understand. what does this do? im just looking for the font they use in imovie. is this what it does???

  • @EquestrianEye Are you looking for the Myriad Pro font that they use for things like their website?

  • I have Ubuntu so I can't use it, but Helvetica on Chrome looks sexy :)

  • i've download Gdi0926 it doesn't have Gdi++ software it have another software called MacType... same function like Gdi++ i guess

  • does it work with 64bit applications? im using win7 ultimate 64 bit. is it gona work?

  • @ButtFiXx It may work. Try it.

  • Thanks Dude (:

  • Any way to make it work with Google Chrome?

  • why doesn't it work with chrome?

  • I recently bought a mac but I returned it for a Alienware M11x now I haven't gotten the money back yet but I seriously miss the smooth font in OSX and just the fact that the display on the macbook pro looked so crisp :( oh well in return i get something much more powerful

  • WTF IT WORKED LOVE YOU MAAN !!

  • Does it work for windows xp

  • @MaximisedGamer Yes it does. Fonts look ultra sharp and crisp. Never went back to using ClearType. I even put it on my flash drive, so that any computer I use (e.g internet cafe) will have the GDI++ Awesome.

  • Brilliant Dude... its fantastic.. thanx.....

  • oh my goodness... this is absolutely what I have been looking for for such a long time! I'm using Windows 7, using the latest GDI925 (same link) and it really, really works! My entire font on display is super sexy! Thank you mobilephone2003

  • Exactly what I've been looking for! Not a fan of OSX, but after using Acorn computers all those years ago, I've been longing for a way of getting this style of anti-aliasing in Windows!!

  • Looks like crap. It seems like the text became slightly out of focus.

  • i said it was sexy =d lol

  • superb!!!!! Thanx!!!!

  • yeah i think windows snaps pixels 2 grid whereas a mac does it freely. thats y mac looks better.

  • I love the OSX rendering, however, I wish there was a method to replace the renderer without the need to run an application all the time.

  • This is a great software developed by a Japanese. However, it does causing some problem on some specific software like Windows Live Messenger and Counter Strike 1.6. It crashes 1 of the WLM's component and disconnects me for WLM. For CS 1.6, the font get very blurry.

Well, here is my experience on using GDI++.

  • Is that possible to have it enabled only for the big size fonts? That doesn't look good for me.

  • absolutely brilliant, just what I was looking for. rated and subscribed.

  • this is my kind of vid. i think i feel a subscribe coming on!

  • It works amazingly for my browser but how do I get it to be more consistent on my file windows?

  • thanks duncan your vids are awesome :D

  • If there was a way to have super font smoothing without having an app running in the background, that's be cool. I managed to get the best font smoothing windows offeres with it's text tuner.

  • oh my god, it DOES look sexy

  • cool!! it works!!

  • yeah this works, i found this GDI++ a few weeks ago...

  • This is great! Thank you so much!

  • Thanks dude! <3

    I works perfectly! :)

    NICE GMOD SMILEFACE!! :D

  • thanks it works :)!

  • It doesn't work with 64bit processes, like "explorer.exe" in Windows Vista 64bits.

It works with 32bits processes, however.

Windows Vista 64bits menus don't get GDI++ font smoothing and continue with Cleartype.

32bits applications like MSN Messenger, Firefox, Chrome, Word 2007 etc. work well with GDI++.

  • Thanks I love it.

  • umm i cant get it running in the chinese traditional xp... like it goes to a wierd font and makes it unreadable

  • thanks this is great

  • So far it works just fine for Windows XP. Thanks for sharing the link!

  • works great with xp i use the pink setting (2nd from bottom) very nice

  • ive been using this for about a week now on my windows 7 machine, but I think i'm going to be going back to ClearType. the fonts under quartz just look too smudgy on anything size 12-14 or smaller. i prefer the crispy clean look you get with ClearType, but that's just personal preference.

  • This is a must have, I use it 24/7 - looks great, and I've been using it ever since this video was uploaded.

  • The one I downloaded doesn't start with Windows Vista.... how do I make GDI++ start up with the OS?

  • All you have to do is right click on the icon in the taskbar, Click the 3rd button from the bottom it should be labeled (P). Click that and another window should open. The first option that is labeled (A) allows it to auto start when windows does. So just check that box and click ok, then everything should be good!

  • drag the exe file to ur autostart folderxD

  • Thx alot! Just try not to force run it.

  • Is it possible to use a autostart with that? Not just to start the programm, but to enable the mode?

  • Thanks a lot man :) I've been looking for something like that for a looooong time, now I found it =) Just great!

  • i don`t get it

  • It works With Windows 7

  • yeah i love it, t fits great with 7.

  • kwl

  • thank you very very much for this useful video

  • What if when I'm using Microsoft Office Word or Open Office Writer? Will it also affect the letters you type??

  • Thanks a lot man! This thing looks awesome. I never thought I would have the Mac styled font smothing on my Windows Machine.

  • nuce

  • what firefox theme does he have?

  • it's called MonoChrome 1.0, it's on the firefox add-ons page

  • I liked most the last one (Light/Gray/Sat+12/Gamma), but, on small fonts, it's a little strange.

So the third one (Auto/LCD-RGB) can be a good option, although I don't like its "t".

  • And, um, it doesn't work on every program.

  • OMG i'm using it right now... it is sooooo sexy.... I'm literaly getting orgasms over it XD

  • im using linux with SUBPIXEL smoothing

  • great

  • For me it changes the title thing to :D

but yea, it'll take a while to get use to.

oh, as i typed this i opend msn, it totaly screws up the name and personal message of my friend :/

it goes all purpuly funny lookin

oh well, it was still a pretty nice tool :D

  • LUsh

  • lol vistaosx, google it. Install it. apply it. then go to themes and unapply it. then the icons will stay the same.

  • it dissapoints me

  • works with windows 7!

    this is smexy

  • It looks cool but i think it is not good form my intel

    on-board grpahics and Pentium Dula-Core 1.73Ghz Processor

  • Great! Very helpful.

    My screen looks way cooler.

    Thanks very much!

  • Thanks it is very worth using. To see Duncan's videos in High Quality &fmt=18

  • HELVETICA.

  • Looks great i love it personally

  • your english is good

  • he's from england you idiot.

  • i know , i just hope my english speaking is proper like him:(

  • move to england and you will pick it up.

  • You can tell the difference easier, by showing the username at the start (or middle, lol), then show it again straight afterwards. For example, go to: 01:46 (and pause), then skip to 01:54 (the highlighting of the text makes it hard to see the difference). It just basically bolds the text a little bit.

  • Basically just fased the letters so it blends with the background a little better. I personally don't like it, but for people who do, this was an easy install, and works fine.

  • can you tell me the website for the hipnotise your self

  • Get a Mac :)

  • Or instead of spending $2500 on a (mid-spec) laptop, install Linux for nothing, or as this video shows, just install GDI++

  • thanks its cool and it works !!

  • When are you bringing out new videos?

  • how did you get your video so clear

  • Mine doesn't glow green when i double click it though. infact it does nothing when i double click it.. However it does work if i right click and click enable

  • Awesome! Thanks

  • makes the font look nice, but actually broke my web browser. @_@

I need to browse the web more than I need my font to be smooth.

  • I use this, without it life would be worthless.

  • srry about asking the mac version in ur windows vid :s

  • WOW it works thanks :)

  • I recommend installing the Lucida Grande font too to set as your default font. Just search up Lucida Grande download on google and you'll find it. Save it to C:\Windows\Fonts.

  • WOW!!! works werry well.. thank you!

BUT.. how did you get this video in such a great quality, here on youtube ;S?

  • Good video Really liked it. Good Program. But I have a question, do you have a sore throat? Because it sounds like you do.

  • I've just downloaded it on Windows XP and it works just fine - thanks very much!

  • Very useful! Thx!

  • Woohoo!!! Worked very well with XP Pro 32bit! Having presbyopia, I can read better now... Many THANKS!!!

  • Followed your steps, very easy to install. No viruses or bugs from the zip. Fonts definitely look clearer. Lettering looks likes its slightly shortened in height but very much shows crisp edges to all fonts. Highly recommend! I'm glad I came across this post...

  • yo man you the best brother it helped me see the text better and helped releaf my eyes.

  • How did you get this video so Clear? It's crystal clear quality in high quiality ( o.0 )

  • hah! it's almost like a joke; I can't tell the difference LOL.

  • HEY WHERES THE LINK?

  • thanks man its awesome !!!

  • it hurts my eyes a little... lol

  • dos this work on xp

  • yes

  • duh hes on XP ROLF!

  • Duh hes using vista

  • I got mac laptop... vista is easy to hack...

  • Thank you! I've been looking for this for days.

I've tried comparing the same page in Firefox and in Safari and there hasn't been much of a difference after enabling GDI++.

  • strange how important fonts are

    ubuntu users - system>appearance>fonts tab

mess with the rendering - subpixel smoothing looks best on my laptop

also look for the package called msttcorefonts in the repos (synaptic package manager) if you want to view webpages in their original fonts

  • Thanks Duncan

  • Hm, kinda useless............

    Lmfao.

  • some people like to customise their systems

  • I suppose so,

    xD

  • Hello! Very good video!

  • Hey this is good quality, Duncan!

  • Thax from Sweeden too:)

  • works great, thanks

  • what firefox theme are you using?

  • I don't think he's using a theme its just Windows Vista. But I know he got his tab all colorful by using the ColorfulTabs add-on

  • its called "Just Black (A cylence theme for firefox)"

  • If you're wondering how he got the navigation up at the menu bar, he's just moved it up there using Firefox's customize toolbar feature.

  • Awesome! your videos rock keep m coming

  • Hey thanks it works great.

  • Thank you, so much! I was just wishing I could do this the other day.
