Those three are probably native Athenians who miss the band back in the old bar days and didn't like the commercial stuff. Gotta be the case. How the hell can you dislike this?
I heard a story that they won this "Battle of the Bands" once upon a time between them and another band named REM. They "won" the battle and the winner got to pick the name for the loser. I heard that they picked something very respectable. Which doesn't surprise me one bit.
Brilliant version of this song. I have just heard the news that my favourite group of all time have decided to split, so sad. Had to come here and listen tothis classic REM song.
I had good friends from High School in Georgia that were friends with R.E.M. in Athens before they really hit it big. I saw R.E.M. in a small club in Athens and then my buddy who was an Editor for the Red and Black took me back to a house to meet the boys in the band and party a bit. Really laid back band, very refreshing.......
Where is MTV Unplugged gone. One Unplugged every 10 years? Ok. Alicia was finde, Alanis was.. but those shows are both long ago already...... I love R.E.M. Can't say less.
Still got the video of this. I taped it and played it constantly, my two kids are grown up now and they loved watching and listening to it. Brings back a lot of memories. Brilliant....
Its been this long since MTV was pertinent. Its been this long since "musicians" were of talent, instrumental skill and of any interest. Guess I'll keep the 'pod loaded like a time capsule until anything changes.

The whole scene looks as if a bunch of Microsoft tech support nerds formed a band after getting tired of listening to Rush all the time. the acoustic guitars, the nasal-y cracking poindexter voices, the printed off lyrics, the collared shirts, and the oversized "I'm lost without you" glasses...
oh god, it's a beautiful sight. I wish there were more bands like that.
how i wish mtv unplugged era be backed from out of time. glory days are over perhaps. people u gonna miss this especially if you're a teenager on the early 90s fucked am getting senti.... remember nirvana oasis pearl jam blur etc. shit those days are gone.....

One of my favorite bands and songs from them but odd version. He sounds like Woody Harrelson while trying to sound like Dylan.
