  • He's so freaking cute at 2:48. Legion is the best teammate.

  • "No data available."- Any machine's excuse to get out of any question

  • @1doesntlikeapplepie ya it's the robots version of "no hablo ingles"

  • Legion is my favorite character in the team, apparently he's a avid gamer and got banned several times for taunting other players. You find out about this info when you beat the Shadow Broker.

  • @GeneralxGrievousx lol all sorts of personal data in that computer like jack's poetry!

    lololol

  • its conan o shepard

  • HE'S A FANBOY! =D

  • IMO the last line was poorly thought out. A better answer would have been that Legion was searching for Shepard and therefore used Shepard's armor so that if he were seen, Shepard would find out about him and the two would come into contact.

  • @coldarmstrong That line show that legion had no real reason to use the armor, he just did. Sorta showing Legion was acting more "Human."

  • Legion in the N7 Armor: What Legion is trying to say is that the Geth never hated their creators but wanted to be like them, hence asking if they have souls. When the Morning War happened they only did what they had to do to survive but never lost their curiosity and desire. The find organics fascinating and desired to be like them, hence the experiments.

  • @myaccount235 But when they explain Shepard, they find that his "code" is the most superior to that of other organics because of how he killed an Old God of the Geth, something the Geth find astonishing. The "code" they mentioned is everything they find desirable in organics: emotions, spirits and souls. Shepard embodied the best of all of that and hence that's why the Legion used his hard suit as a replacement, to understand and be like him.

  • When FemShep asks why Legion is wearing her old armor, she gets SO pissed. Shepard here doesn't seem too upset.

  • "there was a hole." "sure, cause you definitely fixed that problem Legion."

  • I think I would prefer more of an acknowledgement of Shepard by Legion and the geth rather than a romance where Legion sees you as a comrade and someone worth an alliance with.

  • I want a legion romance in mass effect 3

  • @santa8111 did you fucked your own micro-wave

  • I love this bit: ..... There was a hole.

Is it just me, or does he sound a little embarrassed?

  • 2:54 the geth in Legion have come to the consensus "S#!+ why the hell didn't we think of that? Quick don't make us sound like idiots"

    Legion: "No data available."

  • "We placed a fabricated story on the Extranet."

    Geth are successful trolls?

  • so why is he wearing the armor ?

  • @OpticJBigBalls There are so many geth in his platform that he begins having emotional attachment, but doesn't yet recognize it as such, hence why he can't answer why he took it to repair itself.

  • lol the geth are trying to learn about organics by listening to internet religion debates

  • I feel like if you give the Geth another thousand years they could have the capability of becoming the new Reapers. They have access to all information and are not bound to any emotions or weaknesses of organics. They are slowly learning all the disadvantages of the organics. Like Legion says "If we can model organic behavior..."

  • @TheWinButton The problem is the geth logic is much more ethical as a result of how the geth came to be. The geth became sentient and their first experience as a cognizant collection of units is that of opression. It molded their interpretation of right and wrong. The geth don't seem to lack empathy as the reapers do. They recognize the value of organics. Geth are a very different beast than the reapers.

  • @Newmancombat when the geth developed as a artificial intelligence they became self-aware of their slavery to the quarians, and probably asked for freedom. while on the Rayya for tali's loyalty mission in me2 , provided you use a save editor and take legion aboard, legion states that while the quarians have thought victory was possible they have attacked the geth 100% of the time. this suggests the quarians became scared of the geths growing intelligence and attempted to supress or destroy them.

  • Wait why did they start the war with the quarians again?

  • @Newmancombat The geth became truly inteligent, and learned about the concept of a soul. When they asked their makers, the Quarians, wether they have souls, the quarians panicked. They were machines, but now they became slaves, as they realized they were alive and became sentient. Out of fear of their actions, the quarians decided to whipe them out. The geth were already more advanced then they thought, and they were forced to leave their homeworld on the migrant fleet.

  • @gh0stb0y3 wait so if the quarians didn't wage war wouldn't they still have their homeworld or would the geth eventually attack knowing they were slaves to the quarians?

  • @Newmancombat Yes, hence why they attacked first, hoping to kill the geth while most were just machines. They turned out to be further developed then what they estamated, so they got overwhealmed and fled. The only posible way was to have the geth leave in peace, however, the quarians were dependant on their labour. On Tali's loyalty mission (i wont spoil too much of that) There's one of the quarian admirals who thinks they were wrong, and should try to make peace...

  • @gh0stb0y3 lol yea i finished mass effect 2 but never really got the whole storyline for the geth but thanks for clearing it out. Even though only 1 admiral tried to think of peace about half the quarians or more want more, hope they get there planet back at mass effect 3.

  • When I'm playing me2 I always thought that legion and grunt are adorable....

  • @JoeCarolXIII I find Legion to be one of the coolest, his effect on certain dialogue options and scenes are unique because of what he is. Also, I really like the Geth design because they are the most unique robots I have seen in fiction for a long while.

Grunt is adorable and kick ass at the same time, he was designed with the intent that he would look like a teenage Krogan, or atleast a lot younger. That's why the plate on his head is not one solid piece yet.

  • legion is more like alive then any other AI

  • Legion is adorable.

I love the way he answers questions so directly - You can tell it frustrates Shepard.

"That still doesn't explain why you used my armour."

    "...There was a hole."

  • Your Code is Superior.

  • LMAO

why did you use my armour to fix your self?

    there was a hole.

  • i really hope legions back in ME3

  • i love how mass effect games just keep changing gameplay and stuff like that, most games like cod or gears or other series just make the same game with an extra few guns and a differnt boring story, but not mass effect

  • @KulakxFilms mass effect 3 still remains a third person shooter ... with real-time pause and ... squad mates relations . The only things that do change are the weapons , skills and a few chars ehre and there . Its remains the same , duck , cover , aim and shoot . Did you not see Mass Effect 3 ? Ive palyed it and its the same , its a GOOD thing because its still fun .

  • @Cobac compare me1 and me2 together and relate that to the difference that gears of war 1 and gears of war 2 are compared to each other, plus since me been in the works since 2004 i dont think gears invented that type of gameplay neither do i think cod invented fps, that goes back to the 90's

  • @Cobac and i do find similarities in me 3 i did find huge tweak pefromences in the game to say that gameplay feels allot differnt then in me 1 and 2

  • @KulakxFilms performance is not gameplay related .... i really dont get what you are trying to say , try ahrder dammit . Are you talking aobut the movement feel ? well thats not really a huge leap

  • @Cobac if you think their is not difference between me 1 and 2 wich i guess you are implying then i dont understand what you are talking about and a stronger gameplay then the first game that is far less bugged out and is also stronger in every aspect of combat then the first game i do find it a big leep, i find small changes in me 3 but they are strong changes

  • @KulakxFilms You are so right , they completly OVERHAULED the WHOLE GAMEPLAY AND made it 1000% better . Huge leap from ground to sky .

  • @KulakxFilms Just realised i was talking with a COMPLETE Mass effect FANBOY so your mind was already set , Im not offending you .

  • @Cobac everyone is a fan boy of something, even you, i never took anything you said to offence, what i dont understand is what point you are trying to make? me 3 compared to me 1 is a huge overhaul, i hate combat in me 1, i hate allot of stuff in me 1, i like combat allot more in me2 but hate the lack of unique weapons and rpg elements to your armor and guns and power ups that was not in me 2, i love how they brought so much of that back in me 3, thats why i find me 3 a huge upgrade

  • @Cobac and its why i mentioned i find a huge lack of differnce between gears of war 1 and gears of war 2, doesnt mean i hate it, i think you are the one taht is taken offence at some thing

  • @KulakxFilms I totally agree with your opinions !

  • (shepard discoveres legion with miranda)

shepard: legion wtf are you doing???

legion: there was a hole >.>

  • or destroy it

  • I dont know whether i should let legions geth rewrite the Heretics station.

  • and the Reapers! can't forget them

  • This is such an awesome scene. BioWare did artificial intelligence right in Mass Effect- with the geth and EDI.

  • @vinnieraine You are right. They did a top notch job with AI when most games fail completely.

  • Legion is surprisingly adorable.

  • *Googles "why didn't legion fix his hole sooner, or with something else?"*

    *Zero results found*

    ...Huh.

  • It's one thing for a kid, but for a geth, nay a whole geth platform to go all fanbot on Shepherd...Geez, Legion, you're a dork! LOL

  • Comment removed

  • DATA AVAILABLE!!!

LEGION:we used this particular armour because we needed to rebuild our platforms defence

    shepard:and the hole?

LEGION:we wanted to act like you did 2 years ago.....we blew a hole,hurts....a lot

  • Cosplay. Also, I love how his plates move when he's nervous.

  • "We have reached a consensus.

    Your armor is cool."

  • lol "....there was a hole....."

  • LOL he avoided the question like a boss

  • @zielinski91 Nice try.

  • @GoldSpeed66 I've read the script...play and see for yourself.

  • @zielinski91 They rewrote allot of stuff after the script leak, thats why it was delayed

  • @GoldSpeed66 Well if legion stays alive I'm all for it. He was my favourite character and bioware trolled us by only giving him to us in the last 1-2 hrs of the game. Lets see what happens.

  • ...there was a hole XD

  • Legion is a bro!

  • It always kills me when Legion says "there was a hole" lol the way he says it is friggin hilarious

  • Legion is atcually cute when he says "There was a hole" Awww :3

  • Gotta love this profound moment.

  • I have a theory on Legion and that N7 piece he has strapped on him. Legion says geth listen in on organic transmissons so they might know what that N7 symbol stands for. Legion being better and smarter then the average geth might've nominated itself the hero of his people. At least thats what I'm getting at :)

  • @Crimsonlee2XX Legion is geth. He can't be smarter than other geth, because they are all the same.

  • @TheBobblefighter Let me say that differently, Legion is a unqiue platform. Geth need to be to be networked with each other to gain intellegence, they cant work alone or be far from each other. On the derelict Reaper Tali is surprised to hear Legion speaking, she says a single geth has no more intellegence then a Varren. Legion is a network within his own hardware tasked to operate alone in organic space. So yes he is better then the average geth, even he says this.

  • @Crimsonlee2XX Except Legion isnt a "he". Legion is all of the Geth.

  • Gah, Cerberus agent Arnold J. RImmer..

  • People in real life don't seem to get the "No data available" when they ask you a question you can't answer :P

  • "that still does'nt explain why you used my armour to fix yourself"

    "...there was hole"

"THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU FIX IT SOONER OR WITH SOMETHING ELSE"

    "uuuum...well you see eeerm well i ...i...

    >_>

    <_<

    T_T fuck"

  • I think it's sad when legion says "There was a hole" It feels like Shepard is being mean to him.

  • your shepard is weird looking

  • Legion (when discussing the 'stimuli'): The geth are what are refereed to by organics as "trolls"

  • Data and Legion conversing....... interesting

  • @KingethJames Oh god, it would never end.

  • "Well why didn't you fix it sooner or with something else?"

    "Uh.......Um........... ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL"

    "Dammit"

  • Maybe the Geth are more human than we think?

I mean, with each different species there's gotta be a few mutations, which help the species evolve.

A mutation in programming I'm guessing. I dunno.

I may have wrote more but I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @Gunhaver13 * written

  • It's interesting, if you ever do romance Legion... you're pretty much romancing the entire race of the Geth.

  • @Skydance1110 So technically it is kinda of a orgy

  • @Skydance1110 Only about a thousand of them. Not all.

  • @Fjarhultian thats right a little more than two thousand processes

  • "No data available..."

    Translation: I love you!

  • @themanclaw2 Added Abridged translation: "You killed Soverign, you destroyed the Heretics and you pretty much inspire me all the way. And I want you as mah friend."

    lol

  • Maybe Legion wants to be a hero to its "People" like Shepard is to his, or her, people.

  • Legion is too embarassed to say that he is a fanboy of Shepard.

    Or should i say...FANBOT

Am i right? Am i right?

  • @tricksterhuaun O you

  • @tricksterhuaun You are right :D

  • @tricksterhuaun Now give us a lock of your hair, we're gonna sniff it every night!

  • @tricksterhuaun

Illusive Man: Good evening Mr. Shepard... I present you with a little parting gift~

*Legion appears and Illusive Man puts his pinky on his lips*

    Your very own Personal Fanbot!

    DUN DUN DANNUNAN! DANUNAN! *thunderclap*

  • Hey looks like legions also a gamer Infiltrait0rN7 Galaxy Fantasy -Best Supporter and healer Got banned for supected VI use and being unsportmanlike N7 Code of Honor: Medal of Duty Player Score: 15,999,999,999 Superb with a sniper but hates CQC Grim terminus alliance Chievement for freeing all slaves the guy is pretty epic
  • @Arzaker WAT DUH FAK?

  • @mcjohnalds45 says so in the shadow broker files

  • @Arzaker he's already my favorite character, now he's even more awesome!

  • Maybe.... maybe they think shepard is their god!

  • @FeanorBR They're just fanboys...girls...programs.

  • So there are a thousand "programs" in Legion? So that means Legion is 1,000 geth?

  • @cooldude15k

Yes. Legion is a hive of over 1000 geth programs all working in unison.

  • @cooldude15k He is all Geths. The only difference between Individual platforms is the location.

  • -that doesn't explain why you used my armor to fix yourself.

    -There was a hole

    XD

  • Your Shepard is disturbingly like mine. Except yours has better hair. 0.o

  • D'awwwww

  • he simple idolizes shepard

  • Legion: The ultimate troll

  • "There was a hole"

    That's what she said.

  • Legion is such a shepard fanboy :P

  • @MasterlyApprentice

Legion: We do not organic therefore we have no sex organ, we are Geth

  • Shepard: But the reapers!

Legion: Ah yes "reapers" ..... No data available.

  • I think Legion is female.

  • @MasterlyApprentice How can Legion be female? If your definition of female is 'has no male sex organs' then legion is female. Otherwise, legion is a LEGION. It is over 1,183 personalities at this current time. Some of those personalities might be gender specific but it's unlikely since AIs reproduce by physical replication and have no need of gender. Legion's 'body' is basically a computer monitor, camera and various input peripherals in a mobile console.

  • @ShayLee0501 I didn't understand a single thing you just said

  • @MasterlyApprentice machines have no gender

  • Cool, it appears you modelled your Shep on Brent Spiner's Data, from ST:NG. Nice job.

  • Legion probably got his whole arm blown off by that rifle shot like that bad guy from CoD4: MW. He then picked up his detached arm like that guy from Saving Private Ryan during the initial beach landing. Why he used Shepard's armor to repair himself? It's a subtle message that he wants to fuck Shepard, like Harry Potter in the last couple movies/books

  • youre person looks fake ahah

  • @be1n3 You should see mine he looks like the pilot from lengaleres.

  • @CpsLock3 You should have seen my Legion in his first scene. I cracked up because even though I modded my own game it still surprised me. Instead of a glowy red and silver terminator standing on the platform making me shit bricks, I had a purple Mr. Handy with a huge pink gun. I could almost hear 'Macho Man' in the background. I saved before luckily, so I'll have to put him on YouTube.

  • People doesn't seem to understand that this scene is one of the best in the game. There's a geth, the machines who were hostile from Mass Effect 1. But now, he is telling you that he wants to help you. Plus, by taking your armor to repair himself, he does an irrationel act, wich is impossible for a machine and doesn't find any response to explain why, he really made a choice, plus he lied. I hope they'll explain that in the 3'rd one.

  • @DaMadRab the reason why legion has that armor is beacuse he was inspired

  • @DaMadRab the geth used Shepard's armour because they admired him for what he has done... but since they cannot figure this out in a consensus (they eventually will)... he just tells him that it does not compute.... yet... they'll turn "I,Robot" on us in Mass Effect 3...

  • @Gumakaa Hope main Shepard won't be a Will SMith cameo then

  • @DaMadRab Meh. He's an AI, not a VI. Certainly not an average toaster. He's pretty rational, especially by human standards, but being irrational isn't impossible for him.

  • @Fjarhultian

Hmmm... Interesting thought. Actually, some modern programs(mostly viruses) are able to morph their code, although as most modern computers are in fact imperative, their code changes are predictable and, in fact, rational. Any truly irrational actions would require a source of truly random numbers, which at this time can be obtained only from special hardware.

  • @totosus Geth explicitly generate random numbers. They are hardware-dependent.

But don't miss the context. The question is about the ability to pick up a piece of junk without knowing why, not metaphysics.

  • @Fjarhultian My take on it is this, Legion's view of the Geth would lead you to believe that they don't value impractical things such as asthetics or sentimentality, but the choice of the N7 Armor patch was clearly a purely sentimental choice. You could hypothesize that the Geth are developing something similar to human individuality, which Legion claims not to understand as a Geth, which if it that is true, his response actually makes a lot of sense.

  • @Fjarhultian Legion appears confused later on in his loyalty mission when he finds out that the heretics had essentially been deceptive with the rest of the Geth, which he originally thought the Geth had no need for, which would point to further implications of individuality, or at least radically different versions of Geth spread about, more then Legion believes. From a lore/story standpoint, Legion was the most interesting character to me by far.

  • @DaMadRab Yeah that response made Legion a whole lot more interesting after I heard it, I'm sure we will find out why in ME3, pretty sure they already confirmed he will be returning and not just as a random encounter type character.

  • @DaMadRab I don't think he lied, i think Legion just didn't understand his own motivation to wear the armor.

  • @tricksterhuaun Yeah it reminds me a little of that movie "I, Robot".

I think, since Legion is the most advanced mobile platform of the Geth and have more than a thousand programs inside, probably after knowing Shepards actions and spending so much time looking for him, he developed some kind of admiration for him/her, that motivated him to wear Shepards Armor, he evolved somehow for that, but none of his programs has a specific function for that so he doesn't know why he do it.

  • @DaMadRab It doesn't really need to be explained. Legion did something because he wanted to, probably out of some deep respect for Shepard after all he did for the galaxy.

The fact that we don't GET that answer directly is what makes the topic so interesting in the first place. If they were to give us the answer later, it spoils the fun.

Besides, like I said, it already pretty well goes without saying what his motivation was for using Shepard's armor.

  • @DaMadRab Yeah, just the sheer number and depth of the moral questions and ethical quandaries in this game are insane... to me, it's the number one thing that makes the Mass Effect series so amazing. No enemy races are pure evil, and no allied races are pure good. From the Geth/Quarians and the Morning War, to the Krogan/Salarians and the genophage, to even the Prothians/Reapers and hubris vs annihilation, BioWare has masterfully found a way to put the fate of the universe into your hands.

  • legions a troll

  • I think I'll start using "No Data Available" in every situation where I don't have an answer...or don't want to give one.

  • @BreezeBatal

I'll use it on parents to explain why I ate, murdered, and raped their children (in that order).

  • they never say WHY he has the armor piece just how he attained it. hmmm shrouded in mystery

  • @ninjasamurai12 When Legion says no data available it's implied that he/they/it too are fond of Shepard. Like in a fan "he's my hero" type of way. But since he's a robot he doesn't understand it. XD

  • "There was a hole" *sniff sniff* "In my heart"

  • The hole eh, What about the one in maybe uh YOUR CHEST!?!

  • shepard has a geth fan base it seems

  • i just love legion in the game, i love at the end that he smehow generated emotion, attatchment to the armor, but he cannot comprehend it

  • ur shepard looks a lot like mine...

  • your shep looks like a manikin lol

  • Is it true that when legion says "we" he meens himself because hes a robot and has a million programs? He cant admit hes obsessed with shepard

  • @Dawgoalie2 sorta. with the old geth, he was commander or something. and since AIs act based upon a universal mind, Legion refers to himself as "we"

  • 1:52 Geth trolls?

  • ......There was a hole.

  • 'There was a hole' lol :D

  • Hale does this scene better, Meer didn't sound inquisitive enough.

  • @d3v1n27 Hale does EVERY scene better. Meer never sounds inquisitive enough.

  • Conan Shepard?

  • I like how the scene, while funny, also shows that Legion is more human then most people realize.

  • Fanboy(?) robot. Gotta love it.

And this Shepard is one of the most plain looking one I've seen. Not that is it good or bad.

  • Love the flaps on Legion's head. They ACTUALLY built those in so Legion could express pseudo-emotions! When asked about the armor he's just "Err...". Cute :3

  • Ok folks in order for everyone to survive the suicide mission, Including standard NPC's on the normandy.

1:You must get all upgrades for your ship 2:Make sure you have done ALL loyalty missions for your team 3:when the crew gets taken by the collectors choose the option to go after them STRAIGHT AWAY.

    Team choices

    -------------------

    2nd Squad Leader: Garrus

    Tech Specialist: Legion

    Biotic Barrier: Jack

    Escort: MORDIN

Final Battle Team: Take TALI and JACK

Leave the rest to hold the line,Enjoy

  • @xElderz There are a number of ways, not just one.. 1. Fully upgrade ship. 2. Everyone loyal. 3. Go in immediately after crew is abducted. 4. Tech Specialist - Legion. 5. Fire Team Leader - Always Garrus. 6. Biotic - Samara. 7. Escort - Always Mordin. 8. Choke Point Stand - Everyone else 9. Final Battle - Legion/Tali (note - I know that Garrus and Miranda, not sure if always or depending on order, both die. Who else dies when taken to fight the final battle I do not know). This was my way.
  • @Kevooi Yes I know, But I have heard it is also Randomly generated who survives. But picking the right people, And upgrading and doing the right things just increases your chances of getting everyone out alive.

Like you I stated my method of doing the suicide mission because it has never failed me ONCE, And I have completed the game 9+ times now with everyone surviving.

Yes you must leave all the heavy hitters behind for final battle, Take the weaker ones with you like Tali, Jack and Kasumi.

  • @xElderz

Hmm, each character has their "profession", which suits one of the Suicide Mission stages. But players are expected to learn to know their crew, thus making the right choices when it comes to choosing. Of all the possible characters for each stage, there are the one or two who will DEFINITELY survive. Other, less competent on the specific field (Miranda vs. Samara for the Biotic Barrier stage) will not make it.

It's simply a matter of passing judgement based on the obvious.

  • @Kevooi I know, Like the Tech Spec could be Legion or Tali.

I posted my method because it never failed me once, I know you can use other team-mates for the different tasks.

But I like to use mine because I'm getting saves ready for ME3 And If anyone else is doing that too then they could use my method to make sure they all survive, Or hell if they want to use other people look it up online lol

    But I see your point.

  • @xElderz

    I understand.

    Can't wait for ME3 either >.>

Hmm, but think about this: if everyone is obsessed over saving everyone (there's only the Paragon/Renegade dichotomy), then we'll all be missing out on the hundreds of story variations where someone DIDN'T make it...

...which may affect the story a lot, actually. Not sure though. >:C
