Craig! I've been looking for your version of Baby When You're Gone for such a long time!! I remember hearing it years ago (that sounds strange to say) and to this day, even though I haven't been able to find it, I think you did one of the best drum covers of it ever! Solid drumming, nothing over the top, great song. Is there any way for us fans to get a hold of it?
Woah! I posted too soon, before I saw the end of the video! I've been looking for the red cymbal in the video thumbnail, but this explains it. Thanks so much for this post. Downloaded :)
Just don't forget to put who the song is by when using a song. I am a songwriter, I would want to see my name in the title. However, it is dumb how record companies always put out copyright claims.
Along with looking into Fair Use, you, as performers, should also look into Related/Neighboring Rights. Many people are unaware of these rights and if I'm understanding them correctly, you and Reina, and all other artists who perform covers, should be protected. It's worth looking into.
It is what it is, but you can sell your own music now on the internet. . Starting a label for yourself is not hard, takes a little $. Even big bands are selling on the net.
Actually, I'd never heard that song before, and I liked it. Had the record company not been such twits about it, I probably would have gone out and BOUGHT a copy of it. Now? Forget it. I don't want to give them a dime now.
Propably WMG took it down because of their dispute with youtube they want more money for their songs. But yeah screw the big corperate record companies.
...yes just viewd Mandy and a few more,,,good that they are still here.....and Realplalyeryzed them....Youtube probably mistakenly took this off originally without truly watching it.......yes it all fun too see!!
As far as i'm concerned what you have there in your video was considered Fair Use. It was a non-commercial work from which no profit was derived. So therefore it should not be considered an infringement. As infringement implies a territory or market to be infringed upon. At least that, I believe, was the gist of the original concept behind copyright.
I did a huge rant about this kind of thing a while back. Pisses me off to no end.
I think Craig should send the record company an invoice for doing internationally sales promotion of this song. Bill them for one penny, then have a ficticious agent send them a huge bill for managing your music promotional services.
Great commentary Craig! The sad thing is that most of the suits in the music industry are not musicians, and likely don't even like the kind of music they sell. The same goes for the motion picture industry. I have worked in the music & film industry and despise those eff yoo see kays. My papa once said "There's a reason why they call ot the music business, not the music art..." ouch! Keep rockin' the boat Craig!!!
I completely agree with you, Craig. Its not like your making money from the song. Your actually getting MORE exposure for the artist and song by doing this. SO if anything, its going to make them more money. Screw them. I had the same thing happen to me. I've got your back all the way, Craig!
Indeed. This is really a case of 'punishing fans' as Michael Jackson put it once. Fans having fun with music are being punished because maybe somebody could like what they are doing and the original rightholders aren't rewarded with a commission. Boe-f*cking-hoe.
You are absolutely right, Craig. Its because of Google buying out Youtube.... Big changes are coming... You should probably have your own site by now and host your own videos...
i don't know if anyone's brought it up, but they punished an obvious fan. it's ridiculous. i could rant about the music industry for hours, and not just about things like these, but i'll keep this short.

The companys should see people as u as 1st class PR! let me say it this way im grown up with Hiphop and hard rock and thrust me i wouldnt be listening to toto, beegee's and the other artists that u have "introduced" me for! the first song i wanna learn :P when i buy my drums at 1st of april is end to the line with toto.
xxXXXImagine a little child that doesnt know what money is---The world still has so much to learn!
Record companies need to look themselves in the mirror and ask how far they can go.
You practically made a live mix of your own of Bryan Adam's song and you were having fun. Then they take your mix version out of YouTube claiming that it's theirs?
No, you're not hurting anybody and I did'nt expect them to do that. Record companies are only hurting their own image by doing that.
Hi Craig, I think the music industry is coming to a pathetically miserable age and a sad realisation of just how much the industry is worth as a whole to stoop to that level, I honestly think they will be the destroyter of these very creations if they continually penalise people for petty things like this. Good video's Craig keep up the good work.
At least they didn't delete your entire account. I've had that happen twice now because I had politically incorrect videos posted on my account. Youtube is not a place for free speech, free expression or fair use of other people's work. It's a place for censorship and silly rules, and not even those who steer clear of politics are safe from having their stuff deleted.
Hey Craig, Look on the bright side. Maybe the record companies are pulling your videos because they plan on giving you a contract & releasing a c.d. called " The Best of Craig cover songs"!!!!! Jesse.
keep the videos coming the record companies are acting like the British Goverment did towards Radio Caroline an offshore Radio station that millions loved it seems in this world that more money is spent on trying to stop people having freedom to do what they want than tackling other issues, its all about money.
I can see you're pissed off about this and who can blame you? I'm pissed off too. And, as usual , you deliver your point succinctly.
Looking forward to seeing your new home brew beer vids!! ROCK ON and screw those record companies! Again I thought your BEE GEE effort was very impressive!
I agree. My drum videos have been removed before, too. I put them up for instructional purposes...and you're right that drumming overtop of them DESTROYS the song for all intents and purposes. Nobody but a drummer would want my version of the song.
If anything you are promoting the song, which might even interest someone in the song and go buy it. Which will add extra revenue to the record company and the artist which they might not of have if it was not for your FREE publicity. This is absolutly outrageous!
Craig, as far as i know, you will only have Bryan Adams related videos removed, he's the one doing it at the moment. Not sure about other artists. It's not about general music, it's just Bryan Adams.... sucks
That video is ace, Screw the record companies indeed. It gets worse tho - Bryan Adams is removing all his fans videos from the internet, as well as closing fan sites. Bad times for music........
I know how you feel Craig. I've had a few of my videos removed as well. It's ridiculous. All it does is give me a list of artists/industries to boycott.
Hi Craig, I absolutely agree with you, it is fair use. Record companies are taking full advantage of people because they know they can; it's unfair but there really is nothing the average person can do.
All I know is that having people like you play these songs is great promotion for the record companies. Because I have seen artists like you perform these songs, I have gone out and purchased CDs that I would never have otherwise. I can't understand the record companies, like really. I heard somewhere that if its under a certain length of time you can play any song.
Like under 10 seconds or something, also you can sample somehow change somethign small so it is not technically the same song.

KEEP ON FIGHTING FOR OUR RIGHTS!

that is a joke
there are thousands of people drum or play guitar to other peoples music
your not selling the songs or reproducing it for sale so they cant do anything and by removing it makes them look like assess
YOU RULE CRAIG!!

Pfft, just ignore them and do your stuff.
Lol record industry, it's not like anyone cares that super rich dudes are not getting as much money as they would like to.

Hey! I hear you. They did the same to my Genesis No Son of Mine cover.

Hi Craig

Good drumming Craig - keep it up. That music in the background just spoils it anyway.

Right you are Craig. The music industry is the only business that I have ever seen that operates in this draconian manner.
Fight the good fight man!

Hey Craig, Look on the bright side. Maybe the record companies are pulling your videos because they plan on giving you a contract & releasing a c.d. called " The Best of Craig cover songs"!!!!! Jesse.

Hi Craig,
keep the videos coming the record companies are acting like the British Goverment did towards Radio Caroline an offshore Radio station that millions loved it seems in this world that more money is spent on trying to stop people having freedom to do what they want than tackling other issues, its all about money.

Right on Craig!!! I fully agree with you on this one.....keep uploading those awesome tunes sir.

Hi craigman.
I can see you're pissed off about this and who can blame you? I'm pissed off too. And, as usual , you deliver your point succinctly.
Looking forward to seeing your new home brew beer vids!! ROCK ON and screw those record companies! Again I thought your BEE GEE effort was very impressive!

That sucks dude. Do you know which record company is involved so we can let them know about our displeasure?

I agree. My drum videos have been removed before, too. I put them up for instructional purposes...and you're right that drumming overtop of them DESTROYS the song for all intents and purposes. Nobody but a drummer would want my version of the song.

i'm a big fan from germany of bryan since many years, but in this case, i totally agree with you. keep going on...keep the fun in the music!!!

That's why I don't and never will buy a CD or DVD ever again. This is all new world order subservience training.

you still have not done a version of witchy woman.
iblahblah123 3 years ago
If anything you are promoting the song, which might even interest someone in the song and go buy it. Which will add extra revenue to the record company and the artist which they might not of have if it was not for your FREE publicity. This is absolutly outrageous!
blah123blah123blah 3 years ago
Awesome video man! I agree with everything you say. I'm a big BA fan and he's recently being a twat!
Rormo666 3 years ago
Craig, as far as i know, you will only have Bryan Adams related videos removed, he's the one doing it at the moment. Not sure about other artists. It's not about general music, it's just Bryan Adams.... sucks
Peace!
clarago81 3 years ago
Wrong, I've had many of my videos removed. I wish it was only Bryan Adams. :)
EricSes 3 years ago
That video is ace, Screw the record companies indeed. It gets worse tho - Bryan Adams is removing all his fans videos from the internet, as well as closing fan sites. Bad times for music........
badfan69123 3 years ago
Craig, don't you know anyone drumming to a song they love and having fun is illegal. DON'T HAVE FUN TO MUSIC, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!? :-D

You're a great drummer Craig. I totally agree with you.

I agree with you Craig!! ROCK ON!!!

I know how you feel Craig. I've had a few of my videos removed as well. It's ridiculous. All it does is give me a list of artists/industries to boycott.
EricSes 3 years ago 2
Hi Craig, I absolutely agree with you, it is fair use. Record companies are taking full advantage of people because they know they can; it's unfair but there really is nothing the average person can do.
P.S. That is one sweet monitor!
