  • I used to say that as a photographer, and made like I was gonna flip them off. Always got a good laugh.

  • the movie is from 1941????

  • For this film I laughed until tears.

    Martha raye is so funny?

Joel McCrea is named in the lyrics.

  • GREAT! verry funny, verry swing, it's my favorit song !

  • Great film, bits of this film predates some of Monty Python humour.

  • goodnees, thanks you...i love this song and Matha Raye is great

  • Anita O'Day always said Martha Raye was a huge influence on her singing style. Thanks for posting this clip. Someone needs to restore Hellzapoppin' instead of continuing to release crappy third-rate prints.

  • classic number from a classic movie, they just don't make e'm like they used to movies or stars

  • Yeah thats not Anita O'Day. Its Martha Raye. But Anita DID sing this song with the Gene Krup Band, which is one of my favorite songs.

Hi Tim - sorry, need to correct you - The film is Hellzapoppin and this is the film version of the song and is actually sung by Martha Raye.

The film was released in 1941 and the Gene Krupa Orchestra's version, featuring Anita O'Day's vocal was recorded on 20/08/1941.

  • Sorry about that, stagggloves. If I had read beyond the first post I would have seen that YOU got it right.

  • This is sung by Anita O'Day and was from the film Hellsapoppin. This was a totally whacky film and the first 45 seconds of this clip before the song really starts just about sums it up. It does, however, also contain a fantastic lindyhopping sequence. I love this film - for some reason it reminds me of christmas when I was young. I love these old movies!

  • Pretty sure the singer is Martha Raye. Check it out. It is from Hellzapoppin, with Ole Olsen and Chic Johnson (1941). There's more of this film elsewhere on YouTube.

  • THE SINGER IS MARTHA RAYE.
