TRUE STORY - a friend of mine (and fellow Gene Tracy fan) worked in a bank in Ft. Lauderdale in the early 80s. One of the bank's regular clients was a creepy guy named "Tony" who was the manager of a famous South Florida strip club called the "Cheetah III" (where Gene frequently performed and even recorded a few of his tapes). One day my friend asked Tony, "Did you know Gene Tracy" and Tony said "Yeah, he's DEAD". My friend then asked, "What did he die of?", and Tony replied "EVERYTHING!"
A bunch of us used to listen to him on old fashion 8 track tapes decks back in the late 1970’s when we were out at Michigan International Speedway after a late evening of food, music and alcohol. The way he told the jokes was just as funny the jokes. I’m afraid that Gene’s not with us anymore. It’s my understanding that he passed away in the late 80’s as a result of alcohol related issues
