"it counts as a takeshi kitano film" But it does not :o. It's not a film of Takeshi Kitano. It's just a film in which he starred. He did not write the story, did he? Anyway, it doesn't matter - Takeshi Kitano is a pure genius and nothing will change it.
@87TheProdigy87 Ive seen more than half of his films (directing and starring) and so far battle royale is my favorute. I still need to see violent cop and a thew others but so far my favorute is battle royale with Zatoichi coming in at a close second.
NADA!? no creo
@papersamurai- I don't think it is correct to categorize Kitano as a nihilistic film maker- Miike, for example is a nihilistic film maker- Battle Royale is a nihilistic movie, though Fukasaku is not nihilistic director. Takeshi's no Kurosawa, Itami or Yojiro.
There is much that appears cold and distant in Takeshi's ouevre- it is his cinematic trademark and highlights his pride in lack of cinematic training. But an undercurrent of humanity is observed in Kikujiro and Hanabi (and even Sonatine).
his first film in American is not welcomed by everyone so he decided to never shot film outside Japan. I think that's why it's hard to find many English programs about him. Most of the programs are in Japanese, French Italian, etc -_-
@nizsu I think it's more because in America and other english speaking countries there's some sort of prejudice towards foreign films. I don't know why, but people either just prefer english language ones, or don't watch them. The cinemas certainly don't really show them.
Takeshi Kitano is GOD

how is kitano's work and tarantino's work mostley populair because of the violance..?
Tarantino, maybe.. Especialy kill bill.. But Takeshi is a nihilistic film maker.. The violance is hardly shocking..

Tommib by Squarepusher. It was from The Lost In Translation OST, so that is why they probably put it on this excerpt.

lol it really doesn't suit the imagery

Yeah, it seems like it was an arbitrary decision. This segment is really one sided and skewed anyways.

Isn't the Scooter accident an attempted suicide?
And he wasn't fired from the college, he went away from it.
Thanks for the video.

As far as I know yes, you're right it was an attempted suicide.
