  • I wish that the redbirds were not scraped

  • @Diva62100 This has been discussed already, please review my comments. I dont know the exact numbers but should be more then 40 cars.

  • @alexjones67 amen

  • @alexjones67 The Lo-Vs are the oldest cars still here, they have been here for more then 90 years. The Redbirds have been here for more then 40-50 years. They can last as long as the T/A maintains them well

  • @Diva62100 It consist of R12/R15/R17/ One non-GOH R33WF / Rest R33WF/ML painted in diff colors outside with one just Redbird. Right now, it is unknown whn the next TOMC will come back into place. So far its been R1/9 and Lo-Vs for Fan rides.

  • @alexjones67 SOME are, not the preserved ones.. Plus to make room for other cars. So far 10 cars are expected to be reefed

  • @alexjones67 Around 30 cars are so. Some are starting to get reefed. But no worries, a lot are still preserved.

  • Reallly nice I wish they kept them for a few years longer than they did. I can still see the White Plains Road line back in the day and the Flushing line back in the day. All Red Birds all the time

  • man i havent seen these in forever

  • Do you happen to know the status of that train today?

  • @parejopinto Non are in service as of 2003. You will still see some in work service and in fan trips (Summers)

  • @bebo2good1 In the *Fruit Train*??

  • @parejopinto What?

  • @bebo2good1 The Train of May Colors

  • dumb question, but are there still any redbirds still in service for New York Subway system?

  • @piratef2004 They still have over 100 Redbirds in New York. They only use them as work trains and there are about 6 or 7 Redbird cars that are used in the Train Of Many Colors. The Train Of Many Colors is in the New York Transit Museum right now! You will see some Redbird trains in the Museum as the Train Of Many Colors!

  • @azar7834 Thank you.

  • @piratef2004 Most Redbirds are used as work trains. But I wish that they could put them back in service. Everybody in New York misses the Redbirds.

  • @piratef2004 There are alot of Redbirds that are still in New York City today! There are only a few of them though. Most Redbirds have been dumped in the ocean after their retirement. Now most Redbirds are used as work trains or in the Train of many colors.

  • hold the camera steady !!! YOU MAKE ME SICK.

  • @hsaxman Your making me sicker even more. This video was from early 2009.. I was still learning how to use the cam.. Now i got better give me a break smh

  • @bebo2good1 This video was taken in 2009? Wow they still have some Redbirds preserved. The Redbirds are still there in New York City! I feel so much better now! I am so glad to see the Redbirds once again even if we can't ride them for passenger service anymore! I am happy to see the Redbirds!

  • @azar78341able Yes sir, we have a bunch preserved for museum and work service. Some repainted to yellow for work.

  • @bebo2good1 How many Redbirds do they still have in New York City? I know that there are some Redbirds that are a part of the train of many colors but how many Redbirds are there?

  • @azar78341able Hey, Sorry for the delay, I'm not sure how many are preserved but I will tell you there are more then 20 cars around! BTW Ignore ImSoUnFuckingAwsome, hes blocked, hot no life nor do i know him!

  • @bebo2good1 Thanks man I appreciate it! There are alot of rude people on youtube! There must be alot of Redbirds that are still in New York as work trains! I see some Redbirds in the Train Of Many Colors!

  • @bebo2good1 I remember there used to be over 1,400 Redbirds before they retired! But over 1,200 Redbirds have been sunk under the ocean! I think there is over 100 Redbirds left if I am correct!

  • @azar78341able Theres a lot but not 100 sets lol

  • @bebo2good1 The Redbirds were made by the St. Louis Car company in the 1950s or early 1960s! The R33 World's Fair train was made in 1964 if I am not mistaken! Before the Redbirds retired there were 1,410 of them in service! After their retirement in 2003 1,292 Redbirds were sunk in the Atlantic ocean! There at least over 100 Redbirds left! I was reading an article about the history of the Redbird subway cars!

  • @bebo2good1 I subtracted 1,410 from 1,292 and the answer came out to be 118! Think about it there were 1,410 Redbirds in service! 1,292 Redbirds were sunk into the ocean! So there are 118 Redbirds left in service as work trains!

  • @azar78341able shut up azar your stupid. You are a nobody and you dont have anyone :D

  • @ImSoFreakingAwsome Fuck you Bitch!

  • @ImSoFreakingAwsome If you have NOTHING nice to say to anyone then GTFO! I see you are spamming everyone one your junk idiot!

  • @ImSoFreakingAwsome If you have NOTHING nice to say to anyone then GTFO! I see you are spamming everyone one your junk idiot!

  • isnt dat the wroung side of da tracks??

  • Nice vid. ( sad sigh) god i miss the city

  • the mta should use these redbirds in the video for a full train in service great condition and color for the 7 or 5 line

  • What type of paint job were they doing?

  • uhh red...

  • They should put one R33 back on service one day at least

  • Lol. I always see wrong railing at this station.

  • Dont you wiash you had a can on you! You coulda done a nice throwie before she left the satation.....

  • Nice Catch You Was At The Right Place At The Right Time N To The Person Asking About That Poppin sound the Thats The Trains Propulsion Shifting..Basically When The Motorman Pulls The train for it to go a lil fast then pulls it back fast u get the noise in this case he jus shifted the train to the highest level then shifted it back quick

  • it's on 0:33 and 0:44

  • idk what your saying bro, but if you mean the noise it makes when its stops, its just moving again but slow

  • @bebo2good1 i know what they're talkin' about. I've heard this many times. The sound is when the train goes slow then stops suddenly...there...there's the answer.

  • @EdwinR890 The Redbirds are very reliable. Theres....there's the answer!

  • what's that popping sound at 0:34 and 0:45 ?? and i noticed that a headlight was burnt and i love the air valve sound!!!

  • whats popping out?

  • no i said that popping sound

  • I think Chronicz259 is talking about how the train dumped its air.

  • @Chronicz259 Thats the sound of the train break.

  • do you have any corona yard videos

  • no, becuz the first time i went was in July. Never been there before, tho saw in pics. Maybe in sept ill head back as I will have a new HD Cam this week and wanna play with it a bit

  • have you been to shea stadium or to a mets game? you should see corona yard. if you are a met fan then the mets are not going to the postseason because of the injuries.

  • I dunno wat this has to do with this video but yes im a Mets fan and been to Shea, I havent been inside CitiField tho maybe in future.. And Corona Yard yes too

  • what was the horn for? and why does it do that?

  • Ok, it was to alert Manhattan bound customers that a train was arriving not in service heading northbound.. They dot that just incase passengers are ether waiting next to the edge and its bypassing the station or do that when it skips a station. Horn also blows when track workers are ahead.

  • tell me the sound was it a car or train?

  • wat do u mean, u mean the horn?

  • what is that sound its like a car is honking in the subway station

  • Yes in the beginning it was doing that

  • I Thought The RedBirds Where All Scraped

  • Only 1,290 out of 1410 car were scrapped/reefed. There are 8 R26/R28/R29s left and 102 R33, R33WF, R36, R36WFs left.

  • Take me back when I was a kid like 5 years old and they where not red they where white like snow but then they where canvases to graffiti artist and every subwaycar had graffiti on it

I now live in Miami FL and we have the Metro Rail & the same people that made the R32 cars made the Miami Subway cars too the cars kind of look like the R46

I wish Miami would change there Trains like they change there Busses LOL

& now im seeing graffiti on the Miami Trains too

  • Sorry Had To Correct myself thats actually r36s mixed in with a r33 n a r28/29

  • Its kinda hard to tell R26-36 besides the car number , of course the R33-Worlds Fair are single and ends are identical..

  • Nice Catch..Right Place At The Right time..But Dont Wanna Sound Like A Smart Ass Or Anything But To All Who Said There R33s R29s n Such..There Actually R36s if u could see the number its says 9585 look dat number up

  • i remember the days when i would catch a 2 or 5 redbird from that station

  • wow thats pretty rare!!!!

    nice video and catch.

  • i really would like to take this train!

  • well head to the IRT SMEE(Train of Many Colors)/LowV rides, on June 20! Its going to be on the (2)/(5) lines, riding from Grand Central to E180th and on the (1) line~ It cost money tho but less then $30

  • why weren't you home with your family?

  • I was gonna head to the ball by myself, seeing that i wanted to see it for the first time live then stay with fam again, but i skipped due to traffic at TSQ, then by 1 am heading home waiting for the (2) NB, i spotted the Redbird~ And that was an excellent New Yrs gift =)! Of course I still see em at Union Port ud all the time~

  • I really do miss these cars!! BTW that ML pair, They are not 33s. They are R-29s.

  • nice catch love the sound brakes on the Redbird.

  • The Redbird cars are still Alive

  • There are some still out there but only used as work cars and you canstill see some in train yards but most of them are under the see. its sad because they where classic cars. You can see the stainless steel version the R32s today there still running.

  • LOL thanks guys, i bet the workers were pissed xD idc! lol

  • Pissed about what? Working on new years?

  • lol yeah, but most likely they are like, damn they found the moving redbird, and we are on Bug trouble =P

  • the redbirds are very strong they shouldve leave them at least 3 more years

  • WOW you cought almost an entire redbird train set!It would have been even amazing if you caught a train with 10 or 11 cars. This video is a classic and deserves five stars. You are the luckiest person I've seen

  • all i gotta say is, O.O

  • @ThaExpress2609 The Redbirds are very very strong. They look faster than the R142 trains. The Redbirds are my favorite subway trains in New York. It doesn't matter what people say.
