  • Crashed and burned, $649 and up, no way!

Who would pay that much, are they crazy?

Who ever set the price needs to be fired for wasting company resources!

Coming to a store near you on sale for $99.95 very soon..

  • i'd rather get an ipad. :P

  • Too expensive for what little it does. Capacitive touchscreen is dodgy and lags. Who has the time to spend half a minute to do something as simple as a keyword search? No multitasking. Too slow.

Hopefully a lot of business types will buy this first model so that Plastic Logic will have lots of money to build a better model

  • The Apple store should consider making one of their Ipod/Iphone apps as a reader.

  • kindle app much?

  • what do you mean?

  • There is an amazon Kindle application for the ipod/iPhone that acts as a reader. If you mean that apple should make a reader, they are coming out with a table very soon.

  • you could buy tons of books with the price of this thing...

  • $649.99 and $799.99????????WHAT? Why in the world would you get an $800 device that can to maybe 4 different things?!??!?!!

    Pointless...

  • @7075403942 A bigger screen is nice for certain documents, like newspapers and pdfs. Still, you can get a Kindle DX for 489.

  • And? surf the web? Email? Text? Notes? Voice Control? Ect???? Just because it have a bigger screen does not mean it can have a price tag of 800 dollars!

  • @7075403942 Yeah, it does look pricey for an E-Reader, even with the big screen.

  • This company sucks big time. It's just like Apple, loading a bunch of garbage softwares I don't want and expect me to sell a kidney just to pay for it? I hope this product fails.

  • yeah their target demographic are wall street executives

  • I'd be helpful in healthcare.

  • it's aimed at business people, so they figure that they're either wealthy, or the company will buy one for the executives.

I like the size, that means you can view PDFs natively, which is awesome. But yeah the technology might be rendered obsolete by the Pixel Qi display.

  • im paying 200 bucks for this, not 800 !!! and this because in a year or two we will have good e-readers, maybe even with color screens, at a good price.

  • Wow what a tag price... too much for my pocket :-/

but the E-book reader looks gooood.

  • are u crazy nobodys gonna buy a 8oo bucks eraders espesialy from a copany calles plastc logic.

  • @cabokevin

I'm sure it will sell, because people working in high positions have at least the money to buy one - and QUE will help making their business day a bit more comfortable. And what's your problem with the company name? Plastic Logic is the exact description for what they are producing: semiconductors on flexible plastic substrates.

  • Well, good on her. Back to the topic then... I'm not a businessman, but a student (i.e. not particularly wealthy at the moment), which is a pity because I think Plastic Logic's new ProReader is awesome and I would love to have it. But when it becomes more affordable I will definitely be interested in one.

  • is Ina Fried a woman? its hard to tell, im being serious.

  • jagjagin: Ina Fried, according to CNET, "changed genders"... she's referred to by "her", so she's a trans-woman I think (male to female).

No, I'm not trying to make fun of her.

  • wow

  • @jagjagin she is now.

  • LOL
