Really? Huh, I wasn't really aware of that; then again, I was only paying attention to very few bands at the time. Of course, I was only a kid during that time so I wouldn't really know about remixes that "sounded nothing like the original." So you'll have to forgive me if I didn't have the mental capacity to understand that remixes could not sound like the original, as I was only a kid at the time.
Then again, I'm sure it's also been like that since the '80's..so, who knows.
Also, I honestly know now that there are remixes that don't have to sound like the original, but I liken my inability to remember them because I utterly disliked them. With this particular remix, it grabbed me immediately and so I never really threw it away like the other remixes that "sound nothing like the original."
Yeah, threw me off my feet when I realized this was a mix of The Hand That Feeds.
Still, I gotta agree with you. I didn't like the mix at first, hated it, honestly. But then I started listening to it, and it's quickly grown on me. Like, a lot, haha. One strange ass mix, but pretty neat all the same.
My favorite remix of any song ever created: This

a remix doesn't have to sound like the original. It's been like that since the 1990s.
