there are no recorded cases of the rape of nuns. Rape of lay women occurred on both sides including by the 'Catholic' Nationalist force which incidentally included a number of Muslim North African troops. Furthermore thousands were executed officially and unofficially during and after the war by Franco's forces and supporters simply because of their political views - they supported democracy
