The beginning of the video sounds like they are reciting the Dharani chapter of the Lotus Sutra, at least I recognize the "Ani mani mane mamane shire sharite" which is the beginning of the Dharani chapter.

The answer is yes in a very big way. Not so much these kinds of general blessings at large functions or once a month at temple but the personal ceremonies done for specific problems. If you have a particular problem and get a personal service done it is highly powerful and effective.

no, it is all from the lotus sutra. there are so many more chapters than just the hoben and juryo which most westerners are familiar with. A big part of this ceremony is reciting the Dharani mantras and if you listen to the entire service they do chant Odaimoku quite alot.
