The first PC that I bought run Windows XP, when Windows Vista released I upgraded to them and now I'll upgrade to Windows 7. Why would someone not upgrade to the newer operating system?

Most non-geek and non-techy computer users wont bother upgrading Windows. They often don't know how to install a new OS, or find, download and install drivers, or re-install all their software. This is why manufacturers provide restore DVDs. The vast majority of Windows 7 sales will be with new PCs, rather than retail boxed Windows.

IMO Google Chrome OS is not really an Operating System as I know it.

It's just a single use appliance. It's embedded Linux with just a browser, and nothing else. Everything is done within the browser from 'the cloud'. No internet connection and Chrome OS is useless.

Anyway lightweight quick-starting Linux distros are nothing new. There is nothing revolutionary about Chrome OS at all.

Linux netbooks have always been a difficult sell, Chrome OS won't change that at all.

ppl are still clinging to XP...sure it was great, but ppl need to let it go. Win 7 is twice the speed of vista and 4x than XP. Besides, who wants somethin' that's out of date? Windows 7 for the win!!! And what's best is that it's not as memory hungry as Vista. Windows Vista used to consume 41% and Win7...28% ^^

Yup people are still 'clinging' to XP. Why change something if it works? Sure they will eventually change to Windows 7. When they're old PC breaks down, is worn out, or can no longer do the tasks they require of it.

Often older XP machines are Pentium IIIs with 512MB RAM, or similar. These do NOT perform at all well with Windows 7. Yet they're still working just fine, and serving their owners well. Like Vista. Windows 7 needs a minimum of 1GB to perform properly.
