  • that was kinda interesting..

  • It was a special election to replace Huckabee as Lt. Governor. Huckabee inherited the Governorship when Tucker went to jail, vacating the office of Lt. Governor.

  • I actually referenced what you said about the consumption tax, I knew what you mean, and my post made this clear.

The fed and the income tax are separate.

  • Without a fed we would still pay taxes, were you born yesterday?

The federal income tax is an amendment in the constitution and is embedded in common law whether we like it or not (I don't).

You sir have drunk the kool aid, have fun not changing anything or being productive in lobbying for change.

I am all for a consumption tax though btw, it would do a lot for our country.

  • Also, money supplies can still be manipulated by third parties. Take the late 70s with silver. A couple rich guys tried to drive up silver costs and cash in on silver. Imagine if that sort of deflation occurred with a commodity based currency, massive unemployment with no free capitol for home buying or business start ups.

  • Weird me being a fed apologist when I am so open about me opposing their policy the last ten fifteen years.

A commodity standard will not work though for several reasons.

Wages being set with deflating currency leads to unemployment, especially with older employees.

Buying a home in a deflation money market will lead to an inability to pay off dept from a mortgage.

Business credit will similarly be affected, a growing business may not keep up with increasing dept from deflation.

  • What if we use a very common, but intrinsically valuable commodity, like uranium? It has intrinsic value as an energy source, but can be mined readily in most countries on the planet. Rare enough to be used as money, common enough to be secure from deflation.

  • See, that is what the reptilians want, a currency that will unpredictably deflate in the long term and which will also give us radiation poisoning... then their plan of world conquest becomes so much easier.

  • Please, uranium never gave anyone radiation poisoning unless they ate it.

  • That is the lie that the reptiles want us to believe, see how much it doesn't poison you when you are being loaded into a terrarium full of uranium at a human pet store by your reptilian overlords.

  • Just because the fed was partially responsible for some stupid stuff does not means it should be replaced with a commodity standard like Gold or Silver.

"the market should be the one that decides the value of the dollar.we could live in a utopia(free education-collage too, all basic needs paid for) cause there wouldn't be a national debt."

Utopia and free market are two things that do not ever mix. Fatalists realize we pick and choose from flawed systems.

  • Nothing can stop recessions, but we have benefited from being able to alter our money supply. Bankers will always be seen as boogie men.

And no, thinking the fed is necessary is in no way similar to supporting communism. A federal reserve is important in a capitalistic society to prevent dramatic deflation.

Thomas Sowell, the great libertarian thinker, explains it better than I do in his book Basic Economics.

Money is not wealth, for starters that will help you cool on a gold standard.

  • Oh I see, Huckabee working for his lieutenant Governor' family makes him a good guy? Confusion cleared.

  • Um, yea you did. But forget about the absurdity of that for a moment.

Imagine the legislature directly controlling inflation. Adjustments would be politicized and would likely be to slow in coming. Or a ruinous commadity standard such as gold would be enacted and that would really be a bad deal.

The Fed likely needs reform, and Benjamin Bernanke is no Milton Friedman.

This whole, the "fed controls everything" mantra is taking you nowhere and makes you look like a kooky nutter.

  • And guilt by association, as if Huckabee at one point being in the same government with a Rockefeller makes him a villain, you are beyond insanely paranoid.

I called you on a fact and you dodged me. You are just incredibly ignorant.

Do you realize that if the fed ended our economy would be destroyed. Hey, I have a big problem with government using the reserve as their personal ATM for vote buying and pet projects. However deflation causes massive increase in unemployment and dept load.

  • Lol. Wake up, sheeple, and Ron Paul is practically all you people say.

The federal reserve is not all that bad compared to the conniving we would get with a Gold Standard. With a Gold Standard we would have less tan disinterested investors messing without money supply through commodity speculation. No, the fed probably needs reform like every aspect of any policy making body, ending it would put us back into the same dire straits of the pre fed era with horrendous unpredictable deflation.

  • You are an ignorant ape, the Lieutenant Governor is elected separate from the Governor in Arkansas, do some fucking research next time you pathetic assclown.

  • Ron Paul is too old and no one takes him seriously now. He also was way too isolationist for most people's taste based on his 3% poll numbers.

  • that's why we need Huckabee =oD

  • Why does everyone hate the United States and North Korea? Why?

  • Interesting stats on global warming belief/non-belief. One of the most respected, among non-scientists, is George Will, who bases his belief on an article he read in 1974 on global cooling. He must be one smart cookie, and worthy of everyone taking seriously.
