  • About 30 years ago a school friend was obliged to join her parents at a road-show production of GUYS AND DOLLS with Kathryn playing opposite Hugh "Wyatt Earp" O'Brien. She--and the audience--were none too pleased.

  • Tom Poston is sooooo young!

  • Tom Poston. Good actor

  • Is that a feather on Kathryn's forehead?

  • @JeanneRousseau ~ is that what is? i was thinking it was something weird with her hair.

  • Bing's first marriage alas was unhappy. The lovely Dixie Lee suffered from numerous emotional problems which at that time were difficult to address. Kathy by comparison was the very picture of stability, predictability and common sense. She gave Bing and his second family a lovely family life, the kind that comes with a wife and mother who is a solid rock. She never claimed to be perfect, but her children speak volumes to the kind of parent she was.

  • Beautiful....but what with that tuft of hair? ick

  • Ms.Grant is the second Mrs.Bing Crosby..Crosby's first

wife Dixie Lee died years before.

  • Crosby was a fascinating man. I cannot recommend highly enough Gary Giddins' biography of him.

    Thanks very much.

  • @13loomisst I'm still waiting for the second volume!

  • Just guessing who Bennett was guessing when he made reference to the guest "coming to a bad end" in a picture: Susan Hayward? ("I Want to Live!")

  • @44032 Goodson-Todman had a peripheral connection to that film. A contestant on the original PRICE IS RIGHT won a walk-on role in I WANT TO LIVE! as a bonus prize when they filmed it earlier that year (at the time it was still titled THE BARBARA GRAHAM STORY).

  • Kathy was a very bright, strong young lady and just what Bing needed. She gave him beautiful children and a beautiful life.

  • @waynebrasler She was also a registered nurse.

  • Mrs. Bing Crosby, which is the principal role she plays...if only USA society was still like that we would be better off.

  • agreed

  • I love that little curl or whatever you want to call it on Kathryn!

  • GSN broadcast this episode in late January 1958. It featured an odd incident in which someone other than a star appeared walking right to left in the entryway when Tom Poston walked through the entry. Who??

The episode featured a real Duke who owned a race track and a New Jersey manufacturer of dog galoshes. Yes, Dog Galoshes.

Tom Poston is not only very cute at this stage but very amusing, and his questions are good as well.

    That lucky guy Bing.

  • I agree! Tom is just a doll.

  • What a great posting with Kathryn.

  • To paraphrase that famous observation made by Gracie Allen:

everyone says what a smart girl she is for marrying Bing Crosby. I thought of marrying Bing Crosby years ago.

She certainly turned out to be less of a headache than his first wife was.

  • Even if you don't go for the story of Crosby's cruelty towards Dixie Lee and their four sons, there is obviously a lot more to the story than that.
