  • assult rifle? i mean it fires the um 30-6 right

  • @vkigo3

It does not fire the 30-06 cartridge.

M1/M2 carbine fired a new cartridge specifically designed

for the weapon. The cartridge (.30 caliber carbine) is approximately

the size of a .357 magnum cartridge (which by the way had not been

invented yet). M2 carbine was used extensively during the Korean

    war 1950-1953.

  • @NewWaveTH thanks well i watched a vid that said they both fired a type of 30-6 , 30 ot 6, yea 06 well thanks for your input and its still a good weapon for cqb

  • actually woold go to MW2

  • @XxIEpIcZzIxX no... the gun is too old for that

  • I bloody love these vids! So much better than modern animations!!!

  • Can someone please tell me when the m2 was put into service? Thanks.

  • @pelle1243 they first started appearing in early 1945 (april ish). conversion kits to allow the m1 to fire auto also came around that time.

  • @BillyBobJr1994 Thats for the reply mate :)

  • 2:47 He pumps it so sensually.

  • Most of the m2 carbines were actually m1 carbines with auto conversions, so many of the legal carbines in the US have m2 parts, inside, with only the selector switch and a couple parts missing. By looking through all the Second hand m1 parts kits, online, u can find all the missing parts u need.

My personal carbine was brought back, after the war, with an m2 stock, with space for the selector.

  • awesome piece of technique this rifle got! thumbs up!

  • 1:55 man points gun towards camera man. Fail of the 60's

  • @StickerMedia ..... and..... whats wrong with pointing an UNLOADED gun WITH NOT EVEN A MAG IN IT to a tripod cam?

  • @StickerMedia of the sixties? Are you ill?

  • this is awesome.

  • this video's been censored

    censorship is wrong

  • Cool this film was made to instruct new soilders right

  • where is the rest ?

  • Wow... I'm glad to see the live firing of first version of type 100 SMG!

  • who was this video intended for?(military/civilian)

  • @ollieproductions1

This is a military training film, probably 16mm film, from 1945.

The M2 carbine was used during the Korean war (1950 - 1953)

and up to 1966 in Vietnam before the M16 replaced both the

    M14 and the M1 and M2 carbine.

  • @ollieproductions1 likely this film was made for armorers. maybe infantry... maybe...

  • Wow. What a genious design.

  • lol... I think they edited this video so people wouldn't start converting their m1's.

  • Amazing stuff. Can't believe someone found this and then put it up here. Great.

  • M2 was not used in WW2 .

  • @engineman1911

M2 carbine used during Korean war and also by military advisors in

    Vietnam from 1961 to 1965.

  • The M2 was probably one gun that could have benefited from a 3-shot burst-mode.

It is also fascinating to learn that in closed-bolt autos, the process for automatic fire is actually more complex than semi-auto fire.

  • The M2 Carbine was issued in limited quantities to the point it was a rare sight during World War II, but it was very widely used in Korea.

  • Wonder what that model would be worth today...

  • only weighed 5.5 pounds

  • @Gtaivownz

Yes, one advantage of the M1 and M2 carbine is light weight. It has more power than a 9mm or 45acp submachinegun, but less power than a full caliber rifle.

  • haha i bet they used this vid for ppl in WW2!!!! cool

  • lol i love this old stile animations.

  • looks like he's breaking his thumb just to select the fire mode.

  • This gun is really sick. If they had adopted the 7mm British cartridge, this gun would basically be America's AK47.

Stoner might have developed an entirely new assault rifle--but if they had kept the 7mm, the M16 would be far more effective than it is today.

  • nice

  • Sometimes you have to wonder what that guy was thinking while he was doing this.

  • @Pokemonscareme LOLOLOLOL

    Inner monologue:

    "Don't fuck up - don't fuck up - don't fuck up - don't fuck up!"

  • well my m1 garand i got from my grandfather fires fully automatic? does any one think there could be a big problem with it . I mean it's an original 1940's m1 garand.

  • was the m1 too acurated as sone people are saing ?

  • wtf..?

  • orrendous spelling

  • @curseofa5r5a Of course it is. It's accuracy is the thing that made it so famous.

  • but iv heard things like "head shots at 150-200 mts in ww2"

  • I wish I had a giant wood M2 carbine in my garage. That would be sweeeeet.

  • Make one!

  • My advice to anyone who really wants to

learn the internal functions of a semi-auto

and full-auto gun is to study these videos

bout the m1 and m2 carbines.

Next study the AK47 trigger assembly.

  • this is a way better explaination of how a gun works than now

  • The US would have had it's first assault rifle if they had chambered it for a more powerful catridge.

  • This is the weapon used by adviser troops in Vietnam ( 1961 to 1965) before development of the M16. It was the nearest thing we had to an assault rifle.

  • Assault rifles are chambered for intermediate rounds. Rounds that are less powerful than full power rifle rounds but more powerful than pistol rounds used in SMGs. The only reason the M1 is not accepted as the first assault rifle is because it was not fully automatic in the production model. The prototype M1 carbine was actually full auto.

  • Or if they'd done away with Garand's antiquated clip loading system on the M1 and gone straight to detachable box magazines of any size.

  • I grew up through the 60's, 70's and 80's calling a magazine a clip. That's what they called it. Nowadays, people chastise you for using the "wrong" term. But it's just a generation thing.

Great video. What a fascinating piece of craftsmanship.

  • this is what my dad used in the korean army during the vietnam war. he was about to go but it ended by the time he ended training.

  • this is what my friend used in WWII

  • 9:00 , did he just call that magazine a clip?

  • I really liked the large size examples of the mechanism.

  • awesome video. no one makes films like that anymore. ... that Japanese rifle at the end was very interesting. i've never seen it before.

  • its actually the Type 100 submachine gun
