  • I take it your from Pennsylvania since a lot of your cars say Pennsylvania.

  • True.

  • I use Stainless steel. Others may use brass which may need cleaning due to corrosion. Climate can affect severity of corrosion. Then there is aluminum, the cheapest track which corrodes the most and most people just use it for live steam and battery operated trains.

  • do u have to use a special track

  • that would be cool to watch a bug like an ant or something like a june bug get ran over guts all over the tracks lol

  • is this in pennsylvania :)

  • What if the train get struck by lightning?

  • Lightning has struck track and if the wires and power unit are connected they will get fried and possibly burn your house down.

  • @trainman24

So if there is even one cloud in the sky, you have to unplug the whole system? What if the lightning comes as a surprise and hits the train which is running around?

  • one cloud does not make a lightning storm. Give me a break!

  • @trainman24

    It's an exaguration!

  • @cityraildude ..boy your mister doom and gloom...I am sure the owner will take any precautions needed too ensure his layout is protected...LOL

  • What if it rains?

  • you stop running all rolling stock that contain electrical componets and get them under cover, unless you are running live steam.

  • way to slow making it b o r i n g

  • @shooteraod called realism cant take that turn to fast it will wreck

  • can you run this when its raining? or the electric circuits don't work?

  • No.

  • I keep thinking Godzilla is just about to show up.

  • Canadian National represent, yo!

  • @va3svd stfu

    you halfbreed mutant

  • Canadian National represent, yo!

  • @kaos3124 lol

  • very cool

  • @MichaelPenn66109 Check out my other videos. This one was from my first year, there have been alot of changes.

  • @MichaelPenn66109 Check out my other videos. This one was from my first year, there have been alot of changes.

  • just amazing

  • @fixierider97 Check out my other videos. This one was from my first year, there have been alot of changes.

  • I like it, got a nice prototypical operating speed and train going, even if it's a fairly small area! Doing the best we can with what we got should be the Garden Railroaders motto!

  • you train bnsf and santa fe is veri padre and veri long

  • His wife probably didn't want him to make it as big as it is already.

  • All things considered, It doesn't look bad. The fact those big locomotives can turn as well as we see here without "clotheslining" the train , actually looks well. It reminds me of some of the curves down in Tehachapi, where the trains are restricted to 25 and 30 mph. What would look really good here is some searchilight or other type of block signals. He might even be considering these as I am writing- Remember though, all great layouts are works in progress. I'm into HO and N. mostly.

  • you don't run trains.............?

  • no i just do construction stopmotions no trains

  • he meant that he just doesnt run his trains

  • but what does happen when it rain (n please dont give mi thumbs down youtube cause im 16 and new at this model train stuff but also wanna build one some day.but what happens?

  • Well, you don't run trains then. You can run after it stops raining on wet track. I have plowed snow, see my other vids by doing a search for trainman24. All my track is stainless steel so it does not rust or corrode. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. I have a small layout on my porch for bad weather running.

  • do you put the train inside(takin the whole thing off track) or put it under the porch roof where the rain cant touch it?

  • The only thing that needs to get out of the rain are the loco because of electrical componets The cars will be okay but over time they may experience rust of metal springs in trucks and couplers so keep a thin coat of oil on those. Some guys have even washed their freight cars in the dish washer. In my case the track runs right by my porch so I just lift them off the track and put on the porch until the rain stops and if the rain comes quick I just remove the loco or cover them with plastic

  • ok thanks alot ,cause i need to learn this type of stuff so when we move into out new house and i get a job(member im 16 lol) ill kno all this before i buy the things and not kno how to take care of them, but ok thanks alot

  • @trainman24 Some trains are waterproof but i do agree with you.

  • I like the speed is to scale

  • i run in light rain and somet ime modrate train snow can be hard on the the track is made to be out side as long as its soild

  • ohhh do you have videos of it?

  • @babiiblueboi , maybe its stainless which would make it rust proof. Or coated with some oil or protective to resist rust. Dont really know exactly

  • @babiiblueboi well im only 10 and i hvae allready built a indoor track

  • @babiiblueboi mah boi, nothing happens for the most part but dont keep them running long. hoped that helps. :)

  • Reading this question brought to mind an article a few years back in Garden Railways, where this collector/operator back in Alabama lost a few of his controls, transformers and locomotives, due to a bolt of lightening that somehow struck the metal track, then the current found its way up into the house where his staging yard was located. Of course, he came up with a solution to keep this scenario from repeating- A section of track that could be removed in inclimate weather. And grounding track.

  • HEY NICE TAPE HOW ABOUT MORE SPEED

  • PRR & Reading rolling stock; VERY NICE!!

  • the engines sound great.i like the SF SD45 warbonnet.

  • rear,expensive ... 8p but slow...

  • What type of video cam did you use the ones that use the DVD-R disk

  • No, just plain video tape

  • nice. how did you lay your track? on my garden latour it is mulch with pea gravel for ballast, but its hard to make that even and have a consitant grade.

  • My track is on wall block or 2a modified stone with 1/4 inch crusher fines for balast and I use a lazer level to shoot elevation every 3 feet.

  • P'OWNAGE!

  • This project will never be done and this vid is in the very early stages. There is always one more thing to add or change. Search for more current vids.

  • i hae a lgb rio grande 2-4-0

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Wow train set to the extreme. I'm not into model trains but this is really cool.

  • You should try to expand your track. I like it so far.

  • This is an old video, check out my newer ones, do a search for trainman24. Is under construction at present.

  • ok, you need to strap a camcorder to a flat car, put in front of the engine, and record your layout like that. do that when you are done.

  • I've never seen a deisel that size, and, able to make that kind of sound, too. Cool.

  • Real neat!

  • Very cool!

  • is this DCC sound ?

  • Hi, How much does something like this costs? How do the tracks stand up to the elements? We would set up in a climate that has no snow.

    Thanks!

  • About $2000 for what you see. The track is stainless steel, I have heard of some being outdoors for over 15 years with no problems.

  • sorry about that it's not real I got it off of someone else so it's a lie don't belive it I was scared because I'm 13 so

  • is it o scale???? Nice engines.

  • G-scale 1.29

  • thats cool.

  • I like!

  • u gonna add more scenary?

  • This is an early video, check out my others. This layout has much more work to do.

  • nice

  • Tipp: längerer Zug, aber schöne Hupe

  • shut up

  • RESSES!

  • do you know why loco designers would have a safety cab on a gp40?

  • Haven't a clue. do a search for trainman24 to see my other videos. My layout is only two seasons old and is work in progress.

  • what are you using, DC or DCC?

  • Right now DC, future will be R/C battery

  • what scale is that? any way in real life you wouldnt need that many locos. Just the dash 9 or even just the sd45. great vid.

  • G-scale, 1:29

  • i thought so.

  • but model trains is its own world, you use more engines to carry your loads easier

  • what kind of trainn is that

  • This Loco is a Dash 9

  • u got an SD-45?orSD-40 that is mt favorit locomotiv

  • SD45

  • oh...ok thanx, coool

  • did you get your train from tin plate jution trains on 4th street oakland

  • Most of my stuff is manufactured by AristoCraft and purchased at RidgeRoadStation dot com

  • cool SD-40 my favorit locomotiv....

  • It is a SD45

  • Is that LGB?

  • No! AristoCraft

  • I got a usa f7 at al's "a store in van nuys ca" for $165 & a moderately wide diameter of 8 ft curve track for $60 whatever you do Don't! get a bachmann.

  • i just went to a model rairoad store and, man it had a g scale train going all over the ceiling (not upside down) and it was AWESOME!

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Is that how long it takes to speed up the train???????????

  • No, it can accelerate faster, but it is nice to hear the engine change notches as it picks up speed.

  • How does the horn work. That horn sounds like an amtrak horn.

  • The Loco has a sound card and speaker and the horn is activated by voltage level and polarity (foward/reverse horn signal). You can also sound horn on command from a R/C unit.

  • How much money does it cost?

  • Esitimate, $3.50 per foot of track, Freight car $55 per, Loco $300 per. Depends how big you go or start. Check out aristocraft. com forum.

  • Thanks. It sounds expensive. This is not the typical trainset I buy at Wal-Mart.

  • You can get a good quality G scale starter set - a loco, freight car (or two, if you're cagey), caboose, four-foot circle of track, and powersupply for as little as $110-120 at a clearance sale. Go for an outdated Christmas set and repaint it!!

  • All I have is a Bachmann Mogul (D&RGW).......

It has a hook coupler instead of knuckle.

  • im planning on building one can u give me a tip on how much this would be

  • Suggest you check out Aristocraft. com forum and mylargescale. com forum for info. once you think you know how to start you RR go ridgeroadstation. com for some of the best pricing

  • an Aristocraft engine, with a smoke machine, and a sound system is what it'd be. very nice.

  • If I didn't live in Minnesota I would really consider building one of these. Thanks for sharing.

  • Go ahead, there are outdoor model railroads in Canada and New England, UK & Austrailia.

  • Do those actually burn fuel or are they electric?

  • They are track powered by electric.

  • If it is an electric system, where does the smoke come from then??(second locomotive) Really beautiful locomotives and cars!!

  • There is an electric wire heating element which heats a special oil, when oil is hot it smokes and a small fan blows smoke out of stack.

  • If your heating oil to make smoke.. can you spice it up to shoot flames out the stack? lol just kidding

  • lucky mofo you got that bnsf with the red and silver

    ya thats my favorite

  • I thought, that is borning and then it honked!!! W00T
