i always thought it was fuckin respect. thats why i watched the video but lack of respect makes more sense to me. i was kind of disappointed because i thought it was the only BM song that he dropped the F bomb...guess not...oh well i will just listen to peter swear instead
at 2:20 Bob sings: "through your lack of respect" not " through your fuckin respect." otherwise, nice job puttin up the lyrics. I could never understand the words before.
at 2:20 Bob sings: "through your lack of respect" not " through your fuckin respect." otherwise, nice job puttin up the lyrics. I could never understand the words before.
@diandrea4 "Facts an' facts, an' t'ings an t'ings: dem's all a lotta fuckin' bullshit. Hear me! Dere is no truth but the one truth, an' that is the truth of Jah Rastafari." direct bob marley quote.......he was called tuff gong cuz he was a streetfighter.... i don't think he would give a fuck to say fuck......reggae isn't always as happy as it sounds jamaica is a hard place.....plus it says fuck in the lyrics on the inside of the album that this is on which is called "CONFRONTATION"
Still come back to this awesome recording time and again. Total perfection. the great Bob Marley asks us to do something, at the end of this song: "Would you groove along now? Yeah. Would ya groove along na? Will ya jus keep steppin' now?...."
this is the year of the lion^^ we gonna be all lions and stay trough the hardest time, cause we listen to the music that wakes the inner strength that says: Hey man , the world might be bad, but I wanna never give up the fight to do the right thing, also if it hurts at the beginning, let's clear the wheel
In the books i've read on bob he swore alot, but he was serious about it. its amazing in this song he goes i was born in this country right on top of the hill I'll still remain i know i still i will. Its like hes ending the dispute of where he should be buried. he wanted to be buried in nine miles, and i'm happy i got to see his final resting place
man , you got a lot of the lyric wrong too, especially bob never cursed in any lyric at any time... he doesn't say "fuckin respect" the lyric is "through your lack of respect" and 'the fool is size" is "the fool is wise" and there are many other little mistakes
thanks for pointing out these mistakes.i was so confused to see the cursing in the lyrics because i know that bob would never do that.thanks and jah bless.
If I listen carefully I hear 'lack of' indeed, even though the official lyrics booklet that comes with the original CD 'Confrontation' says 'fucking' (but then those booklets contain more mistakes).
Yes, bob never spewed at the mouth thoughtlessly. Every word had meaning and made sense. So, it's true you must listen good. And as i said above, bob never even intended to release this song, it was a personal release of his feelings at the time, then once he left physically, the record label island put it out to make a dollar! So, they wouldn't even know the lyrics as bob didn't leave them to be published.
man says "gotta clear my wheels once and for all....i don't care who fall" you see by the time bob was makin this there were many negative people around him with bad motives and causing pressure and tension, so he made this personal song, which he recorded on his front porch in kingston and he would have never released it, i'm sure. it was taken by island records and overdubbed and stripped down from the 24 min recording bob did on his porch to this 4 min piece here. so this is bob being fed up!
yes man, i have heard it. it is bob and a simple drum beat and as i say the vibe is that bob was just fed up with a lot of negativity around him and was just improvising, saying what was on his mind at the time. he tried his hardest every day to get up and get out to show and tell people 'hey there is this life to be lived, a simple, healthy, righteous life where everyone can be well and be cool' but because there's a force trying to keep people from this good life, that is what bob a deal with
when he says "give me a session, not another version" you gotta think deeper, man. it's not literally studio business, in life people always trying this thing and that and not dealing with the source of all things, so it is metaphor, like when bob says "so you think you found the solution, but it's just another illusion" in the song "so much trouble" you see, the versions represent all the vain sources of security people turn to, and the session represents Creation/God, the one true security
I can dig that. This song came to me in a dream a year after on of my close friends was killed. I have interpreted that "Session, Version" lyric to mean that make your life your own (Session), not a reproduction of another's (Version). To my understanding, the "version" side of a reggae song is the instrument, which can be used byothers to pattern their "own" song after.
exactly, i didn't realize you had pointed that out before me, thanks for keepin things straight in regards to Bob. His music should never be reduced to what it's not
There are very few people in our little world like Bob Marley who was blessed. He knew what all of us yearn and search for throughout our lifetime. He shared his love with all regardless of race, creed or culture. What he has left us is enough clues in his work which makes sense everytime you listen to them. His work remains timeless or may be the human race has not learned the lessons of history.RIP
ghalib2007: These thoughts are simply awesome - beautiful, true and so right on it. This statement so absolutely embraces the magic and beauty of B.Marley's gift to the audiences all over the world. Love it!
Mix up Mix up was a lost tape...bob never had time to finish it. Rita found the 30 or so minute rough cut of bob, his guitar, and beat box. They cut it down to 5 minutes and added in the other tracks. Beautiful!! Anyone have the full original 30 minute track though?
The way this recording was tracked and produced to finish gem-dom is fabulous. It is altogether ultra-fantastic reggae. It's reggae from another dimension. The background I-threes performance in this tune is outrageous, it's like golden heaven to the ears. The beat drop and the low bass grooves going on are way out front ahead, the feel is immense - like the ocean.
a few 'marley traders' have the 24 min session, but it has been up til now considered "no share" for it's rare value among traders of his unreleased works.
nah i mean the song itself....it was produced by rita marley after bob died. She cut up a 20 minute freestyle session he had in the studio and the song "mixup mixup" on Confrontation (released in 1984, 3 yrs after he died) is supposedly the best of that 20 minutes. I want to hear the full uncut 20 minutes is all was saying.
funny you know this, but yea, was a 24 min session, but on his porch even, no studio with only drums, til island chopped it up and overdubbed it for commercialisms
This is among the greatest reggae recordings of all time. The song, vocally & musically, is a one-in-all-time unique gem. The song is magic, the whole tune flows. The band is dialed in & swinging. It's one of those "perfect" songs. The way Marley closes out (vocal) is just out of this world.
B. Marley's vocal lines in this song are just unreal. He's singing with force; you could have heard him a block away - the intensity is way up high; tension! He's almost shouting, but it's totally controlled. Awesome. Beautiful. The song is so way out on top and out front, mon.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I did'nt even expect my video to turn out so good myself. Anyone reading this, please feel free to add me as a friend. Im starting another video very soon, thanks again guys.

What means "clean my wheel" ????
andrecarioni 3 years ago
man says "gotta clear my wheels once and for all....i don't care who fall" you see by the time bob was makin this there were many negative people around him with bad motives and causing pressure and tension, so he made this personal song, which he recorded on his front porch in kingston and he would have never released it, i'm sure. it was taken by island records and overdubbed and stripped down from the 24 min recording bob did on his porch to this 4 min piece here. so this is bob being fed up!

man you really gave us insider information, i love those!
this 24 minutes version, do you ever heard it? whats the feel? only him and a guitar? or a drumbox along? i am curious!
furthermore, thanks for explaining the true reasons for this music composition.
why he says "give me session, another version"? perhaps any bad engineer complaining that marley was having abad performance inside the studio?
andrecarioni 3 years ago
yes man, i have heard it. it is bob and a simple drum beat and as i say the vibe is that bob was just fed up with a lot of negativity around him and was just improvising, saying what was on his mind at the time. he tried his hardest every day to get up and get out to show and tell people 'hey there is this life to be lived, a simple, healthy, righteous life where everyone can be well and be cool' but because there's a force trying to keep people from this good life, that is what bob a deal with

elphonics 2 years ago
I love that also! We are actually interpreting very similar, you see that :)
You're right about the 45s in Jamaica, the B sides would be the dub or instrumental
and are often taken and "toasted" over or put new lyric too. I was just thinking a bit more abstract
The thing with bob's music is everyone tends to hear s little something different
listening to the very same song, depending on their experiences and capacity. Nice though, I really like wha you say!
blake5298 2 years ago
Actually, he says "through your lack of respect and through your false pride" :
I totally agree and when I watch this it irks me that he would even think Bob said that.
