  • why do i want this i have a galaxy s2, no need for bolt on controllers when i can use a ps3's DS3 and onlive.

  • why do i want this i have xperia play

  • Will it work for an iPod touch 3rd gen and can I use it on gpsphone?

  • Does Modern Combat or other gameloft games work with this?

  • does this work with ipod touch 4g?

  • This looks awesome, I need one. If they make it so you can turn it into a clamshell with the holders in letting them tilt the screen up, and add the shoulder buttons to the proper place I will buy ten.

  • Looks awesome but does this work with download games from iTunes like Jetpack joyride, age of zombies or plants vs zombies?

  • @Richwaterz some of them, I think 30 games are supported. I will hopefully get to use this on an android device for emulators. I gotta catch them all!

  • Is there an opening for the charging port?

  • is there any lag in the controls? even just a frame delay is bad...

  • BO zombies or modern combat 3 would b amazing like this

  • this is only for iphone?

  • @LegolasHIMM it'll work with more or less anything ( Android devices, Windows, Linux, OSX ). But is, by far, best used with a jailbroken iPhone.

  • @GadgetoidUK will it work with a jailbroken ipod touch 2g?

  • How is the build quality on this item? Will it work with a samsung galaxy s2? (as far as fitting)

  • can i use it to play call of duty world at war nazi zombies or black ops zombies?

  • @TheDingeldangel if your iPhone is jailbroken, then the answer to this question may soon be yes. The BluTrol App will have analogue support soon and will allow you to map the iControlPad analogue sticks to the screen. Whether or not it'll work well with these games, however, remains to be seen.

  • @GadgetoidUK Have you reviewed the Gametel controller? I'm torn between it and iControlPad. Unsure which to go for. If you or anybody has tried both and can give me an unbiased backed up answer as to which is better, it would be much appreciated. Cheers

  • Are you kidding me? You are playing the best game ever on the ipad 2 with a slim little thing like that? That is unbelievably awesome. Can you tell me where to get the emulator (or better: the name) and the location from where you got the ROM for the Zelda game? I am really interested n that iControlPad thing. Damn!

  • @god0t the emulators are all from Cydia, an App installed to jailbroken iOS devices. This one would be SNES9x EX, ported by Robert Broglia. You can dump your own ROMs using a Retrode, it's not a hard game to find at carboot sales.

  • where do i get this? i am sick and tired of touch controls on emulators.

  • alternativly just buy an experia play, no fiddling around and the game pad slides out or in when not in use, just like a pspgo.

  • anyone brave enough to download cidia let alone downloading emulators while SOPA ect is shutting down fileshare sites ect, good luck with that (just hope your encription is better than the FBI's and your not using your home IP address).

  • @BananaMammoth emulators are not legitimate, there illegal copies and im fairly sure the people who own the rights to those files will clarify that, if you have for example an N64 emulator and you have mario 64 thats to breaches of copyright material you have, if you get brought up in front of a judge how are you going to explain how you came to be in possesion of stolen material hmmm. oh and cydia might be legal but the programs contained on it are not.

  • @TDRrevenge no one cares

  • @segadomcast you will when you get caught so dont think you wont.

  • @TDRrevenge You are a sheep. I don't live in America anyway.

  • @segadomcast it dont matter where you live, just cause you dont live in america does'nt mean your safe, well cant say i didnt warn you.

  • @TDRrevenge Sorry I can't hear you over the noise of my massive bandwidth constantly pirating the shit out of everything.

  • Comment removed

  • do you need cidia?

  • Im wonder whether you can play call of duty zombies with this controller. is so then i definitely need to buy one. and what is that app that you need to connect the bluetooth controller.

  • Can u play modern combat 3 on this

  • @airsoftnbeast @TheGummyBoys there is your market right there, two willing buyers who want support to play their mobile games like a console game. I demand support from gameloft now lol

  • can i play modern combat 3 with this?

  • qe mamada

  • I have an android phone and have updated v.20 but my phone just rejects the icp, It works on my mac but cant understand why it wont work any help?

  • i fucking love columns!

  • I dont think this is practical for when playing streeet fighter IV vs. mode, as this controlpad work via using bluetooth connection. Unless it work can be connected 2 devices at the same time then im definately getting this.

  • why was that sonic rom playing slow?

  • does it have an input for headphones? and btw does it use batteries or you have to charge it?

  • @brontosaurious the new-style clamp system, very different to that shown above, doesn't obscure the top or bottom of your phone at all so plugging headphones in is generally easy. The old-style plastic clamps have a gap for headphones/charging cable but excessively thick headphone plugs (like those with screw-on quarter-inch adaptors) wont fit.

The iCP has a rechargable battery that's soldered to the board and charged via Micro USB.

  • @GadgetoidUK Thanks a lot mate! I'm getting it

  • Is there one for the ipod touch? fouth gen?

  • @DavidAlvarezMusic the newer clamp should fit pretty much anything you can throw at it.

  • @Marioabdallam Not on the newer Samsung you can't.

  • nice video but just one question

this gamepad can be used to play modern games like dead space or modern combat 3 ?

  • Will this work for any emulator that supports the WiiMote? Or does the emulator have to specifically support this controller natively?

  • You can use the icontrolpad to all the games? Even when you use a emulator to play?

  • can i use this with iPhone 4s? does it need to be jailbroken? can use it with regular games from the app store? is it for sale? where can i find it!!!!! PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP! THANKS

  • Question, how sensitive are the nubs? are they sensitive enough that you can slowly walk around on games like mario 64? or are they basically glorified versions of the D-Pad, with no sensitivity, just direction?

  • Does this work for gta 3 on the iPhone 4? I would really appreciate a response, thanks. Oh, and great review.

  • Ashens reviewed this

  • you sound like bear grylls all you need to o is drink your own piss :P

  • You got so lucky at 4:24

  • pointless

  • @TheTroyes1 I should hope so... having points all over a controller would just hurt your hands!

  • It is compatible with the Xperia ARC??

  • have for galaxy ace?

  • @Marioabdallam sure, if you sprout an extra hand to hold your phone whilst both hands are on the Wiimote and enjoy awkwardly placed controls go right ahead!

  • doesn't this dude realize that sonic is running so friggin' slow

  • @BenjiPistone

There seems to be no major frame loss.

The reason the music is playing so slowly is probably because the emulator is running in PAL mode :/

  • sonic is lagging loads lol

  • Looks neat! That said, next time you try to emulate an NTSC (US/Jp) version of Sonic the Hedgehog, you might want to set your system to NTSC. The massive slowdown is due to using the slower PAL (European) system.

  • @GameBushidoDotCom I get these comments on all my videos, I have committed a great injustice! I really need to use the PAL ROM I dumped with my Retrode!

  • Does anyone know if it works with the htc desire?

  • It's a shame only a handful of games support this.

Had I wanted to play old games, which I already played to death a decade ago, I wouldn't use a controller addon with my iphone.

I always roll my eyes whenever I see a cool device like this, and the only games it seems to be perfect for are old games running on emulators.

I really don't see the point of it.

This is the sort of thing that would mostly benefit current mobile games.

More developers need to hear of this thing.

  • no matter how much they try, the iphone is NOT a gaming system

  • @ddrisawesome123 It really isn't ,which is why I'm trying to decide over an iPhone 4, or a Sony Play Xperia DX

  • Do you know if there is anyway to use this to play iPhone games like: Modern Combat 3, N.O.V.A. 2, and Dead Rising?

  • Don't forget you can play ps1 games as well

  • I really love my Xperia Play...

  • Yeah for only $74.99. FUCK THAT!

  • Wow, this looks really nice, actually! Having to connect it all the time and do on-field assembly to get it from one-hand-holdable phone to a gaming phone sounds like a bit of a pain, but this is neat! If I didn't already have an Xperia PLAY I'd definitely be all over this.

  • It certainly looks a good little controller. I already have a Sony Xperia Play so I don't need one but a friend of mine is an iPhone addict so I will suggest he take a look at this.

  • Would this work for non emulator games? Like geometry wars for example?

  • at 1:00 nice fail... lmfao

  • This would make street fighter 4 an amazing game on the iphone

  • Great review, but man you really suck at sonic hahaha

  • Can I plug my headphones to the iPod while using this?

  • @UematsuFF7 yes, you can. The new metal clamp leaves the headphone port clear, so you can fit any pair of 'phones in no problem. The old plastic clamps obscure it somewhat, but I believe the stock iPod 'phones will work, along with anything that has a similarly small plug.

  • Who telephone models are compatible whit this device? .

  • Can I use this to play non-emulator games like Modern Combat 2?

  • My cousin used his iControlPad on his Xperia Play... What a dumbass... XD

  • so you can play pokemon if you have it on your iphone with this correct?

  • will this work with games like, the chinatown wars, and call of duty zombies, plus is there an n64 emulator for iphone, if so thats awsome!

  • will this work with iphone rpg lik modern combat?

  • Apple should be smart and make a product like this as well. It would encourage developers that make apps to actually implement this kind of technology. I'm getting tired of playing on a touch screen where my thumb is covering 1/8th of a screen.

  • will this fit a samsung galaxy s

  • @EpicHale with the new-style metal clamp, it should do. The Galaxy S2 has been confirmed to fit. The plastic clamps you see in the video have been more-or-less retired.

  • 3 things:

    - do you need that Mdm u (or w.e that cydia app is called) to connect the icontrolpad to the idevice?

    - will it work on an ipod touch 4g?

    - will it work with gb4iphone, gbc a.d.x , genesis a.d.x. , Snes a.d.x, snes4iphone?

if anyone knows please let us know

  • @Yourname942 you will need BTStack for Cydia games. No jailbreak or alternate bluetooth stack is required for App Store games which support the iCade.

Emulators with thoroughly comprehensive iControlPad support ( you can use the iControlPad controls in the emulator menus too ) include:

    GPSPhone,

    SNES 9X EX ( SNES emulator ),

    NES.emu, GBC.emu,

    PCE.emu,

    MD.emu,

    MSX.emu.

I highly recommend picking these up, whether you get an iControlPad or not.

    Jailbroken iPod Touch 4g: Yes.

  • @GadgetoidUK Will this work with the iPhone 4S once jailbreak released?

  • where do i buy it??????

  • nice review. how is the quality of the dpad?

  • You can play just old games. Totally unusefull

  • @schwarzluigi wrong. Yes, a lot of the support tends toward emulation because that's where a great deal of demand is. But you can play any game which supports the iCade using the iControlPad if you're an iOS user, and on Android it works with pretty much anything that accepts keyboard input.

  • @GadgetoidUK humm for example if i want to play asphalt 6 or devil may cry ?

  • @schwarzluigi if the developers of those apps chose to support the iControlPad then yes. There was much talk of a Cydia App for the iPhone which could map iControlPad events to touches/tilts which could be understood by *any* iPhone App. However, such software has yet to surface. There are an increasing number of iCade compatible Apps you can already play, although there's a strong tendency towards games with an "arcade" feel because of this.

  • @schwarzluigi So much is wrong with this comment. You are clearly too young to be on YouTube if you cannot grasp the true form of retro gaming.

  • Where did you buy and how much cost you a friend? do not know if this available to buy in Mexico?

  • You know what would have been a better Megadrive favorite? Sonic 2.

  • will this work with a nokia e7 ?

  • Is there linux support? That is slightly to expensive also.

  • Hey guys check out my review on it if you want!

  • AWESOME. If it will work with eliminate Pro, Battlefield and RC Helicopter/ Flight sims, I'll PLACE MY ORDER!

  • I received mine yesterday but I cannot get it to connect to either snes9x or md.emu... gbc.emu works fine, and my pc picks it up easily, I can't get my head around what's wrong! :S Great review by the way, as soon as I've sorted this problem out I would happily recommend them to anyone.

  • @mp2611 have you updated to the latest 1.0.1a firmware? Check the iControlPad forums for the download/guide.

  • @GadgetoidUK Yep, and the thing that confuses me is the fact I had md.emu working, albeit once, PRIOR to updating the firmware, once updating it, it didn't work at all. I've decided to contact explusalpha to see what his take on it is.

  • The iControlpad is like 3 times the size of the iPhone. Not to mention you have to carry around 3 pieces along with your phone. Great functionality, but they really need a better design.

  • @LaSepultura that assertion gets raised quite often, and whilst it would be nice to have a sleeker more form fitting iControlPad, it would prevent it being compatible with the host of other phones that those clamps also fit.

Some of the original designs fit more closely to the form of the iPhone, and would have been pocketable. But they were too small to use comfortably, and didn't fit anything *but* the iPhone... seriously limiting its potential market.

  • @LaSepultura The new universal set makes it so its just the icontrolpad and a bar that sticks up from the top, that handily rotates to the side when you dont want to use it, so its flush with the system, way less clunky of a setup

  • Ugh! PAL Sonic! Why? I get that it's probably what you grew up with, but it feels (and sounds) like time is slowing down while you play.

Anyway, a nice overview of the iCP. Playing on the iPad looks mightily cool.

  • @invagrante hahahaha! Yes, it's what I grew up with, and it'll always suck me in like some sort of...err... blue vacuum cleaner. I'll try to push up some more varied iControlPad coverage if I can get some peace and quiet to do the vids in!

  • @invagrante

Yeah but it feels like everything else is sped up if you are used to the pal version :P
