  • Amazing :))

  • This's a revolutionary step. Step by step!

  • a good start

  • 3 things wrong with this video -

    1. These people still live in poverty compared to industrialized nations - we need to do much more than just give them lights, but it's a start.

    2. We need to using technologies like this to help low income families in the US.

    3. There needs to be a mention as to governments trying to regulate cheap and free access to natural resources. We can not let them control this or it will be green power, but their green power, not ours.

  • This is probably the most positive video I've seen in a very very long time! Thank you for the simplicity of the solution to a worldwide problem.

  • great idea

  • This is very brilant! Filipinos are very good making things from nothing into something. They are also inteligent people. Im verry proud to be a filipino!

    ALOHA FROM HAWAII!

  • This is agenius idea

There are a lot of flute, who live in dark places and I hope that you reach them this idea

  • First I kinda liked it, but I've think again, if it's so close to the roof, why not just make a window on top?

  • @1227leochin I'll guess a) more plastic bottles then glass laying around and b) the bottle sends light in all directions rather than just straight down.

  • @whikloj

    good point...

How about bigger window or more windows...

if this idea is from the 3rd floors to the Ground floor, and it works fine like this, it would be better, becuz of solar lighting will works 25 ft. or shorter..

but then i think again, the easiest thing to find in the 3rd world country, is the 2 liter plastic bottle.. haha

  • @1227leochin Yeah sure, in those poor homes install an expensive piece of glass.... that will not resist as well as their roofs and these bottles

  • hands down, one of the slickest bits of improvised engineering i have ever seen. Hackett and MacGyver are pleased!!!

  • Ingenious!

  • oops... Look for a similar brilliant idea for the NIGHT time the 2 minute film about wakawakalight

  • Brilliant idea for during DAYtime. A similar brilliant idea for the NIGHT? Have a look at the 2 minute film at Brilliant idea for during DAYtime :-)

  • awesome!

  • Truly amazing! I wonder how many simple and good ideas out there haven't been discovered yet

  • Does it intensify the moon light so it is always light in the house? If so is there some way of covering it when you want it to be dark?

  • se jodieron la phillips y los otros carteles de las bombillas de 1000 horas... aquí no las compran más.

  • fuck LU ads

  • LA CAGO ESTE WEON

    NOBEL PRIZE FOR THIS DUDE

  • 看到了它們的笑容我也跟這高興起來了^^

  • 8 people don't like this design, and I have no idea why people would dislike such efficient and cheap way to gain max. benefit to poor people

  • Wow, this is really awesome!! It's so simple, yet very effective!! :D Two thumbs up!

  • Dont let that evil Con-Ed get there hands on this they say ur breakin tha law...

  • Awesome!

  • A genius idea! My hat is off to this man for bringing free eco-friendly light to people that need it. It's this sort of intelligence and ingenuity that the world needs a million more of.

  • pepsi marketing?

  • Best Filipino

  • so..it's just bleach and water??

  • Hieno homma!

  • It's amazing... good idea!

  • Next, they are going to invent windows!!! Oh, sorry, I forgot. They want to keep the flies inside.

    Bunch of sods!

  • @10810Irukandji most of the houses are too close to eachother to let ample light in through windows

  • @10810Irukandji Windows cost lots of money they don't have!

  • @10810Irukandji

I have worked for the Red Cross in Africa for a year and my qualified verdict is: the sod (whatever that means) is you! Obviously you have never seen the slums of Freetown. No roomfor a window to leave in enough light, too easy for thieves to enter, a decreased protection against monsun etc. Think before posting ignorant comments.

  • GOD JOB!!! Engineering to the rescue!

  • Una idea brillante

  • @carlyice ¡literal! :)

  • Smart dude, but wait until they make licence agreements to those bottles forbidding any other use than originally intended ;P

  • That is the most brilliant thing I have seen in a LONG time!!!!!!

  • Amen. Peace be with us all. Wherever the idea originated, God bless those who care enough to share it with others.

  • There are those who lament their situation and then there are people who find a way to make a difference no matter what.

  • Asbestos roof tiles. Congratulations on your cancer.

  • @simonspaz So, they need to avoid grinding the tiles up and inhaling the dust. That's not such a hard thing to do until they are rich enough to replace them with something better.

  • they need to add tin foil in some obtuse cone shape for the inside of the house. will project the light down more.

  • That's a pretty....

    BRIGHT idea.

  • Comment removed

  • @AQTehMage i agree

  • Sheesh, what a smart idea. Love it!

  • This is complete genius. I was in tears. How the world is so unfair, yet these humans with no money still have more courage than us to fight for a better life, recreate a light not using electricity and most of all, very clever.

  • Some people have more brain than money.

  • @hsk3111 I think they have the brain (or they are able to use it) because of not having any money ;)

  • Oh wow, so happy to see this folks getting light.

  • Is this the Philippines?

  • I'm inspired to contribute to that solar liter of light!

  • imba

  • This is a really BRIGHT idea! Awesome.

  • @PilotCube Brazilian creation. :)

  • @nivaldodel yup, the first youtube video is from at least 3 years ago.

  • When light comes in...Smiles Abound!!

  • Why don't they just walk outside. It only works in the daytime anyway

  • @charizardpal

why dont they just call an electritian?

  • @norsoul364 Because they are poor you ignorant fuck stick.Learn to spell.

  • @scdefion

Excuse me, I was beeing sarcastic to a person who actully was ignorant, like you just were :D and im not english, so im sorry if my spelling does not satisfy you. il learn to spell if you learn unconditional love :) peace <3

  • @norsoul364 Sorry no such thing as unconditional anything . How about a nice game of hide and go fuck yourself ?

  • @scdefion Wow. You seem to be a genuinely sad individual. Why not just apologize for attacking the English of someone who doesn't speak English? And what gives you the authority to declare there is no such thing as unconditional love?

  • @kdg0332 What gives me the authority ? Well first I dont need authority and I didnt declare anything. The fact is there are conditions to everything. And anybody who says there arent is a ignorant fuck like yourself. And if you are going to make comments in a language other than the one one you normally speak , then you should learn to at least spell it properly. So fuck you and have a nice day.

  • @scdefion How is that a fact? That is your opinion. I have seen plenty of unconditional acts. And how is "no such thing as unconditional anything" not a declaration? Furthermore, for someone who is criticizing another's spelling, your grammar and punctuation could really use some work. You could also try expanding your vocabulary so that you can express yourself without so much vulgarity.

  • @kdg0332 Hey asshole get a fucking life. You fucking spunk bubble.

  • @scdefion I need to get a life? You were attacking some guy because he can't spell electrician. Furthermore, I am just asking for evidence that there is no such thing as an "unconditional anything". That is a bold and, in my opinion, ignorant statement. Anyhow, hope you have a good day... And my hope for you to have a good day comes with no conditions - I give it freely.

  • @kdg0332 Everything comes with a condition , good, bad or otherwise. Nothing is done without some thought as to if you will do something , say something , why you will do something or not do anything. Those are conditions . Now you have got your fucking explanation . Yeah you gave it freely and was a condition of the thought you put into it. Now bugger off and worry about yourself.

  • @scdefion I really don't think you understand what the word "unconditionally" means. Unconditionally means without terms of use, or limitations, or qualifiers. If I give you $500 and say that you can have it regardless of how you use it, that is unconditionally. If I say you can have $500, but only if you use it for buying food, then I give it conditionally. So someone who gives love unconditionally, gives it regardless of what the recipient does.

  • @charizardpal I don't know what your house is like, but most of us like to have it bright in our houses.

  • Pepsi should donate enough 2 liter bottles for every home - just for the free advertising!!

  • do they work at night too?

    what does the bleach do?

  • @luedriver ...They don't work at night because the sun isn't shining. They work best when it is very sunny. If it is cloudy, they are not as bright.

The bleach is to stop the algae and germs from making the water cloudy after a few weeks.

  • @MozartsGeist2008 thanks

  • FUCK LIGHTBULBS IM DOING THIS LOL

  • I love it when people think with their noodles and come up with such simple solutions to problems! Very awesome!

  • This is epic. iogasjkgnkjasngkasngj

  • Excellent! Maayo kaayo!

  • That guy is such a winner, and here I am pissed off because my internet is kinda slow

  • @deltahotel93 i was thinking the same thing

  • Alguna ONG hace esto acá en Perú?

  • Beautiful!

  • What a brilliant scheme. It's really good to see people coming upo with ingenious ideas to improve their lives.

  • Super bright idea...bravo!

  • @playwiththejunglegym

awesome docu ..... and amazing idea - nothin can be more innovative and selflessly beneficial then this...

I also like the background music ...which music is this?

  • bakit sa BBC di man lang nabanggit si "Solar Demi" si Illac Diaz ang naka front as Founder of Liter of Light.

  • Edison meet "Solar Demi"... not the inventor but the messenger! Light it up!

  • а если б крыши были матового стекла... :)

  • Aaaah Soo Cool!!!!! Pinoy Pride Proud To Be Pinoy I Waas Just In The Philipines, Wish I Saw That D

  • Wow, who would of thought a concept as simple as light would be so magical or important. We grow up with it, so we totally take it for granted, then you see stuff like this and you're just left speechless....

  • Proud to be Pinoy

  • I'm from South Cotabato, I'm also proud for this kind of ingenuity! I too, have lots of inventions and suggestions on how to go about life..pls browse my FB notes reuel magan and my youtube channel reueltmaganmd/ e.g. rice husk/ building escape/ crime bustling/ i.d. system, etc thank you....congrats to demi on this episode or whoever uploaded this. God bless!

  • THAT IS SO COOL!!!!

  • this is really amzing! galing mo mang demi solar! hulog ka ng langit sa mga taong kailangan ng linawag! mabuhay ka!

  • how amazing is that!

  • No more fighting guys!!!!it doesn't matter where and who did the thing first...the matter is!!!!it's working good and it's helping people...please don't be a narrow head...

  • this video is amazing...

  • Mabuti pa si manong madaming haters, haha choks ka manong!

  • no more fighting. it doesnt matter where it originated. what matters is: this guy was able to help the people livin in those dark houses at laguna. Peace everyone. God bless you all

  • I can't believe that so many people don't have land and have to live in these types of conditions. Criminal. To the point of the light though. We use the plastic roofing that someone below asked about but it is VERY expensive. over 100 dollars a sheet compared to less than 10 dollars for the tin sheets, which are already expensive to most. We learned about these bottles from brazil / kenya take up of idea earlier this year and will try it out. keep spreading the good ideas!

  • It doesn't matter where it was first done or who first thought of it, WHAT MATTERS IS THAT THERE WERE MORE PEOPLE SMILING AND LIVING BETTER BECAUSE OF THIS INNOVATION. Bringing to these people a little comfort in life is truly heartwarming and such a selfless act. Kuya Demi is 1 of the modern heroes of our times because in his little ways he makes a difference in other people's lives. =)

  • @ricaonfire It's not a matter of who did it first. It's that someone is doing it here in the Philippines. Don't have such a crab mentality.

  • @xnicolo omg honey do you know what is crab mentality hahahaha im not the one copying here dear i am telling to those who think we did it first it just to ashame for them that they dont even know everything about this... LOL

  • @ricaonfire Yes I do know what crab mentality is. I'm not complaining that you're telling people that it was started in Brazil, cause it was, but about the fact that you had to say that "you're not impressed" and that "IT WON'T WORK AT NIGH...." Your crab mentality roots from that fact that you had to find something negative about something so simple and wonderful.

  • @ricaonfire first off, please try to be coherent, mam. It is a Brazilian invention, but is invention REALLY as important as application? Give credit where its due. Tell me if you've heard of entire favelas in Brazil having mass installation of "bottled light"--much respect for Mr. Alfredo Moser, but also much respect for the Filipinos who figured out how to circumvent the scarce energy problems in their country.

  • @ricaonfire such a fool.no matter who invent this, the most important thing is how it can benefit other people.stop arguing 'we did it first, they did it first', the main point in this video is the guy in the helped his community for a better life.Impressed with his effort to contribute to the society.

stop arguing and ask yourself - what is YOUR contribution to your community?hope you've done so!

  • @salman1127 i understand what you're saying but what if you're in the same situation? you invented something & big companies promoted it without a credit, how's that going to make you feel? Ofcourse, You can't lie to urself. it will make you proud after hearing a huge credit right?

  • tama!

  • @xnicolo

Yeah, you are right, but It still makes people mad that students from MIT in the USA takes credit for this invention when in fact it was done by Brazilian Auto Mechanics. It somewhat implies that only the "highly educated" can get credit for simple stuff like this when in fact you can come up with something so brilliant yet simple without a PHD from a well known University... And I'm sure even you agree it's not morally righteous to take credit for something that's not your's...

  • @SamuelJoaodaSuica You got that right! But MIT can't take any credit at all. Ship builders 'of old' used to use "deck prisms" on sailing ships centuries before MIT ever existed. They were made of glass, but it's still the exact same principle - moving light from the sun through a transparent medium to illuminate a dark place.

  • @AmyLuthien

    i agree...

  • @ricaonfire of course! that's why it's called solar. stupid!

  • @emactan, based on the test communities, the PET bottle lasts about 5 years until the plastic blurs or darkens. Cost of labor is Php150 per unit on the average. We can only come up with a rough average since some materials can already produce several units of the solar bulb and labor sometimes are done by community volunteers. the 5-year timeframe is pretty much our estimate, it would depend then on proper installation techniques...

  • w0w....! amzing

  • Wouldn't a small piece of standard plastic corrugated roofing be an alternative? That's what they use in factories, gyms, etc. Questions: Compared to plastic roofing: How quickly/slowly is PET (the plastic material used in the bottle) degraded by the sun's UV and infrared? What is the total cost including labor? How long does it remain leakproof? How long does it remain maintenance-free?

  • ang galing! WOW Pinoy talaga.

  • simple lng pero nakakapag pabago ng buhay :)

  • ASTEEGGG!!!
