@sertox12345 OMG That youtube vid was because of winds and THIS IS A BIRD STRIKE NOTHING WRONG WITH IT ONLY BIRDS THAT MAKE ENGINE BAD K CAN YOU UNDERSTAND ME NOOB? IF YOU CANT FUCK YOU!
Why would you dump fuel if a bird struck the turbine?.. Why doesn't it just land and keep the fuel it has onboard?.. Isn't there the problem of running out of fuel before landing?
Also... isn't jet fuel supposed to be liquid?
Hahah... as you can see I know nothing about planes >.>
@kyungjinn Glad you asked. Airlines calculate precisely the amount of fuel needed to get to a destination. The amount, however, adds tons and tons of sheer weight onto the aircraft. If the plane were to land with all of its fuel, the suspension could break or even far worse. Dumping fuel removes that factor in the landing process and also allows for more lift from the wings supporting the behemoth. I see it as genius. As for the fuel, Ever seen a waterfall? Looks like a cloud, huh?
i just got back from Turkey with korean air and what i thought was wrong actually they are great airline just like singapore, qantas, emirate etc. I would suggest for anyone if you want go air korea
omg im going with them from Melb to Turkey but afraid and i should really think twice before i make my mind up going with air korea( no worth of risk_ and the pilot cant even speak english properly
that is a portuguese accent the pilot has.. most Korean air staff speaks english from decently fluent to relatively fluent. i've flown with them many times to japan. besides, english speaking airlines hardly ever cater to non-english speaking passengers..who cares about other peoples english speaking ability
all 777's and 330's will be retrofitted with new generation seats (bigger screens in economy) starting this year. i think all widebodies in the korean air fleet will have new seats by 2014
korean never fly them omg llok at youtube landing with them scary they cant fly at all

@jsc1192 Actually Asiana Air is doing quite well. It's the Airlines' holding company that's in trouble. Asiana recently had one of best years.

@kyungjinn they have to dump the fuel because the plane would be to heavy to land.

the pilot is brazilian!! koren air pilot is brazilian hahhaha thats strange!!

@boupontius
Only source of Korean pilot is the korean airforce, which can not supply
enough pilot for the airline industry. There aren't much of pilot schools
outside of the military.
so Korean airline companies hire many foreign pilots.

That's gotta be good for the environment ;) haha, must have been a scary feeling though knowing it was serious enough to dump fuel.

I wish Korean Air used B777-200ER with PTVs for KE001/002.

Do you know what the problem was?
Is it Boeing 777-200ER?

yes.

A bird was a lousy pilot and didn't watch where the heck he was going. Rumor has it that he never contacted air traffic controllers either.

must be scary was it?
