  • yes i agree people abuse this technice and those people give hyperflextion a bad rep. if you want to see horses really being abused youtube bull fighting horses. most latin horses are ridden in hyperflextion from their first ride to their last. i strongly believe that that the fei has a good eye for the safty of our frinds.(the horses)

  • hyperflextion is a symple exsercise that is very healthy for the horse when done correctly. the whole perpose is to work different muscles, just as you an i should do. i am an athlete so i do tones of different workouts for different phyical and mental strength.

  • dont put advertising subliminal messages in your videos. i saw one at about 05:03

  • This video went viral on Ukraine

  • Some say 'dressage should be banned'. TRUE classical dressage is a system of training to develop the horse to its full NATURAL potential, and harmony between horse and rider so that they resemble a centaur - one being. Anything can be done well - or poorly.

Not unlike the development of a humand gymnist or dancer.

  • western pleasure not better...see "Reichert Celebration" on youtube !

  • I do not find it beautifull if the hindquarters are not engaged. the legs shold move diagonally parallell. That is the beauty, that is a healthy horse. I have been working with my horse the right way. It takes a long time. But it is well worth it, to see him get healthy and stronger every time we work. He never get's upset with me because i am riding him with respect for his anatomy. Anky's Salinaro bucked her off plenty... until she finally broke his spirit :(

  • The FEI are gutless, and the judges are too chicken to mark the big names down. So sad and wrong.

  • This is necessary to show people how CRUEL this method , the explanation by Anky has lost any credibility she may have acquired as a rider and if that is what it takes to win, Dressage should be banned! Horse cannot speak and where is Painted Black I doubt that he is safe and happy horse. Horses are suffering at the hands of so many.

  • i just have to say. F**k you!

  • buuuuuuuh

  • e.g. if your riding school / stables supports such methods - why not tell them that you don't want to be in an environment any longer where animal cruelty is tolerated, take your horse (if you have one) and leave.

  • I find it just wonderful that more and more people are waking up and realising that what has been practised for so many years doesn't mean it's the right way. It really is the time to be courageous when it comes to openly speak up when something feels so terribly wrong such as the common handling of horses (yes, I do believe that it goes beyond the cruel riding style alone). It has to start somewhere and when we openly show our disapproval we are taking conscious action.

  • That looks very uncomfortable for the horse.

  • If judges would quit rewarding this it would stop

  • 00:08, that is just plain cruel... how would she like it if i put in 3 large chunks of metal in her mouth, then tied her head to so its touching her chest, and still forcing her to work to the best of her abilities? people like this should go die in a hole with the horse slaughterers!

  • that is wrong!!!

  • Great video.

What struck me is how much more passionate Dr. Gerd Heuschmann seemed than Anky. Also what really anoys me is prof. riders that keep using all kinds of aids and techniques that they say only prof. should use. If they were as great as they would like to think they are they shouldn't have to use all kinds of aids. Also if Anky and co. know what they are doing is correct why do they then feel the need to sue anyone who says something against them?

  • Train every muscle in the body? Can she atleast name the half of them? I doubt.

Can it be used corectly? I' ve seen horses doing this on their own. For a second or few. But not for minutes and hours. There is a reason for that and when it comes to horses... horses know best.

  • anky just pisses me off! Wench can't even answer the question, and she really doesn't "APPEAR" to understand how horses learn, think or function. Sad she gets so much publicity:(

  • I didn't know that edward gal uses hyper-flexion...

Does he use it less then anky??

  • I think any horse that is Hyperflexed before competition should be disqualified, its just plain wrong and its not true collection!!! Dressage used to be so nice and beautiful to watch when i was younger.. now I can't stand it.. the horses look soo uncomfortable its hard to watch..

  • Well put together video but it is interesting that Baucher was mentioned as the person who started this. Baucher, after an accident when a candlebra fell on him (not a joke) said he realised his way of quick fix training with hyperflexion was wrong and although he did have very many good ways from what I can gather he was never respected by his peers again. Perhaps we should not reinvent the wheel and learn from Baucher's mistake.

  • This is really sick. These people do not deserve to own these horses..

  • there is no exxcuse for thiss !

  • great video. it really shows how bad rollkur is. even my brother who knows the littlest about horses thinks the horse's neck looks unnatural.

  • Thank - you , thank - you , thank - you!

  • i really liked this. you acknowleged the fact the hyperflexion did come from a Classical master in an intelligen, academic way. you showed both sides equally and didnt make ppl who use hyperflexion evil gremlins that want nothing more in life than to cause horses pain. very well done.

  • If you are interested in helping to end this kind of front-to-back riding and reviving classical dressage, please consider visiting the new not-for-profit dressagerevolution-dot-com.

  • Absolutely well done! A video for the masses which allows one to draw one's own conclusions. It also includes the opinions of some very well known and respected individuals in their field. I know on which side of the debate table I'd be sitting. For me, there is no question that the practice of hyper-flexion is cruel, unnecessary, and a short-cut to 1st place in the very warped world of modern dressage. May this help bring about much needed change in the Equestrian World!

  • very informative video! thank you for sharing it with us. i especially like the closing statement - regardless of whether there is an "ethical" method of using hyperflexion as a training tool, it is very easy to misuse the technique and organizations governing horse sports should be taking more of a stand on the issue.

  • very good video! love the fact that it tries to be unbiased! Though I must comment on somethin! Baucher might have done wrongs and excesive bend might be one of them but he never worked like this! the horses kept an elevated neck, wich has the same airway compression problem but not the nuchal ligament overload nor impairs the horse's field of vision or even his pride! The "variation" spoken on the vid can achieve even better results if done between a highly collected frame and an elongated one

  • I think you video is great, very informative.

Would I be able to show my riding students it to explain about the controversial training method?

  • I love the video, but is there a copy that you can hear the narration. The music isnt telling me anything Sorry

  • Great video. Sadly this is the way of the world today, everyone wants a quick-fix and are not prepared to put the work and care into young horses. Fame at any cost!! FEI should be ashamed.

  • Thank you so much...very well done. I have been looking for an unbiased opinion and you have don a great job in that. I sometimes think people deem things cruel with actually knowing what they are talking about. You have shown that used properly this practice was not meant to be cruel but man (or woman) has taken that original practice and gone too far. I will not use this method myself but at least now I understand why.

  • very good video!

  • Very well thought out and unbiased, Its good that it wasnt just condeming the riders that practice, or making the vets or those concerned sound like animal loving tree huggers with no real expertice. It was equal on both sides, going into great detail and helps people draw their own conclusions. thankyou good job :)

  • Very good video! Educational and well produced!

    Thank-you!!

  • agree! Not only about pictures but also information some I hadnt heard before! :D Very good work! *fav*
