  • @goldenponyGT I smoked new edge GT in my 4.0 and I've only got minor mods. The 4.0 is a strong engine and responds very well to minor mods. I had the speedo pegged one day at 120 and it kept going so I have no idea how fast I was going

  • A lot of guys use the excuse the v6 gets better mpg, I have a 06 gt and it averages about 21 mpg, I know for a fact the v6 dosnt do any better than 24mpg, so ur all saying u would rather save 5 bucks a week than drive a gt with 90 more horsepower with better looks, sound and handling, put a supercharger on a gt and u have a car with over 400 horsepower, there shouldn't even be a v6 stang but I guess girls like to look cool to lol

  • its been a while since i posted. I never said my old V6 would beat a modded gt, I said i did what i did cause its what i had to work with. Dollar for dollar My V6 ran with GT's.

    Since then i blew up the 7.5 rear end and swapped to a full GT drivetrain, so now i have the 4.6 and honestly the 4.0 pulled and felt better

  • yeah but... if you think about it... its not THAT much more... i had an '08 v6 and now an '08 gt and theres really not that much difference at all.

  • all that extra weight not only from the engine but the bigger oil cooler plus a few other larger parts keep the gt from achieving a higher top speed than the v6 (they're about the same from what i've read, around 140ish), it adds nose dive(bad), and focuses the center of gravity farther forward than the v6. besides, its fun to scream past a gt rider in a 6

  • for an 08 v6 mustang. which would put out more power. turbo or supercharger.

  • in the end it would be turbo, but a turbo is an entire kit, and fairly more expensive than a supercharger. A supercharger may be bought in a kit or just as a single unit (see vortech's kits for example), and will provide MORE than enough bang for your buck

  • LOL Yout have it the other way around, its about 500 for a good turbo and over 3000 for a good super charger....

  • not really. You can buy the actual supercharger for around 1,500, such as those found at vortech. The super charger kit with the extra cooling, etc... goes in the 3 to 5,000 (at least in the case of Vortech) You might be able to buy a cheap turbo, but turbos are definitely usually over 500

  • im torn between turbo and supercharger and just flat out getting a v8 out of a gt i love the supercharger whine but turbos have a higher capability

  • I recommend for the sound and torque look at the Explorer Express X-Charger... but for top end horsepower get a turbo.... in the middle with a SC i say do a vortech or procharger, whatever is easier to get at the time

  • hey i too have a white v6 mustang but mine is 07. What type of supercharger would you recommend to get the most hp out of it. I figured a v6 mustang with a supercharger would beat the v8 while still saving gas. I drove a 06 mustang v8 but only got about 12-13 mpg but with the v6 i get about 18-19.

  • @xbanex its obvious he still drives a honda....the 4.0 werent terrible engines, and could be made to easily keep up with supercharged GTs, hell for about 8k you could have a 4.0 putting down an easy 410 at the wheels and still be under the price of a supercharged GT 4.6

  • There are 3 different devices to lock up a rear end, a T-Lok, Tru-Trac and a LSD

    TruTrac is supposedly stronger, T-lok is cheaper, and i believe a LSD is what the GT's have in the 8.8..... i may be wrong tho

  • Quick question, I am looking to get a V6 the only problem is I found a 2002 for a damn good price but it is automatic! Does it make a huge difference in terms of performance in comparison with a manual V6??

  • i dont know about the 2000-2004 but with the 2005 and up the only real difference is the small difference in acceleration and gas usage.

  • only main diff between manual and auto is an additional 5% RWHP loss about.... say a manual losses 15% to the wheels, an auto should lose 20%

    i know exactly where your comming from. i own a v6 07 mustang. when i take it to the track and race the v8's i see them from my rearview. to own a gt is great and all but owning a v6 that would beat the shit out of a v8 is great. do you know how many people get pissed off bc they just lost to a v6? haha bring it to the track and see whos talking shit. it is usually the people who own hondas who talk shit.

  • I would advise future owners to get what they can afford... if a GT is in your price range and u can cover the insurance go ahead, cause right now the gas mileage for me is less than a GT... If you start with a GT u can definately achieve higher #'s than ever possible on a 6er..

  • I found a supercharger from Vortec that makes 475hp to the rear wheels. should i go for that, or two 200hp twin turbos.... money is not an issue. I think twin turbos would be cool, or is a supercharger cooler???? what should i get??

  • yothe vortec itself doesnt make the 475... its the pulley and the tune that makes the power... let alone the engine and what not... andthe turbos i highly doubt make 200hp each.... thats not even plausible for a stock block on a street car.. if u built ur block, did ur heads, cams... full port and polish and maybe upgraded ur pistons to a boost friendly compretion ration(ie: 9:1 and up..) u may see those gains

  • K sorry for the confusion, i know that the supersharger doesn't make 475 HP, but it adds an X amount of HP to your car...correct?

    as for the twin turbos, what i meant was, i could boost my HP an extra 200. actually its more like 150-250...something around there. also im not buying a twinturbo kit. Im buying 2 turbos and hooking them up myself. Im also thinking of a NOS kit...maybe.

  • yea, i wanna bet.. show me a dyno sheet... and which intake/exhaust setup... cause u cant gain 103 horsepower wth an intake and exhaust alone... and if ur saying 313rwhp... thats like a 150hp gain over a stock 2005 V6 mustang. they have 210hp(or 185rwhp)

  • Not possible....trust me, I OWN a 2007 V6.

    The only way you can achieve 300 hp with a V6 is with a Supercharger or other bolt on mods. One guy does the quarter mile in the 10's .....that's faster than a stock GT!

  • With any amount of bolt ons u will never get 300rwhp.... you need either a turbo or supercharger... but with bolt-ons it is possible to get a 13.8 second car... someone just did it today! And the guy/guys that do the 1/4mile in 10 seconds is a huge car shop that has massive research into the car, and believe me it costs alot more than a stock GT.

    I am faster than GT(stock/light mod) any year!
