Matt 2vs2&9 has Magi see a star& for reasons best know to the priest who dreamed up the story, thought that it meant a baby Jewish king had been born. So they tried the obvious place for a baby king= the capital of Jerusalem. Herod told the Magi to go 6 miles down the road to Bethlehem. They didn't need a star to guide them but the author placed one to ensure they didn't miss the road. I think the star was probably called Tinker Bell. Astronomers would have noted constellation & brightness
mesopotamia did not birth egyptian knowledge. culture goes from south to north. or hot climate to cold climate. Africa birthed astrology, astronomy and most other vital elements for building civilizations, including language, the arts, mathematics and sciences of the world and universe. the mesopotamian root of astronomy and astrology was a cleverly placed falsehood in the video. cosmogony, astonomy, astrology all find their root further south..
There is a view that the zodiac signs are related to seasonal events necessary for a civilisation. A calendar in fact. Aquarius = prepare for rainy season, Pices = Go fishing, etc.
VeryEnlightening: "Today's Astrological charts and the meaning we ascribe to the various signs are based upon models created thousands of years ago. Yet, since that time due to the very slow wobble of the earth on its axis, the dates when the sun is in front of the the particular sign of the Zodiac have changed. In fact, each has moved one entire constellation. Meaning that people who now believe they were born in Aires were in realilty born in the Pices of the original charts" Thnx4posting:)
That's not enlightening at all. It's one of the pieces of chaff that's regularly thrown at astrology.
Anyone who bothers to inform themselves about this issue of tropical v. constellational Zodiac knows that it was resolved by astrologers 2000 years ago.
There's nothing clever/scientific/impressive about using a straw man tactic to try to show that astrologers are astronomically uneducated.
Until the 1700s astrologers were often astronomers and vice versa. They know their sky.

360 into 12 is 30 which would mean they had 5 day weeks, and 6 weeks in a month. Dogon tribes still go by the 5 day week calendar.

@hoodprophet Mesopotamian Empire is considerably older than the Egyptian Empire, is it notÉ

@DubbleLzNhell I have a question for you...where is Mesopotamia?
cdejean22 1 year ago
@cdejean22 It's ancient babylon, nowadays I think it's Iraq.

@DubbleLzNhell Makes sense. So, why is it that some people call Ancient Egypt Babylon?
cdejean22 1 year ago
@cdejean22 It's all perspective. Why do some crazies think North America or even the U.S. itself is Babylon?
DubbleLzNhell 1 year ago
@DubbleLzNhell I see your point.lol

the ancients correctly regarded the influence of the planets and luminaries, but incorrectly regarded the mechanism behind it as the constellations.

Also, Carl Sagan makes some very good points about Astrology on the YouTube video: "Carl Sagan on the Pseudo-Science of Astrology"
