  • some more indeept Video who you use and witch tools you are useing insteed for us beginners :)

  • your video isn't very helpful. it would have been great if you explained something like the keyboard shortcuts or how and where the different tools could be found. From what I can tell you are describing like 1 or 2 steps out of 10. More frusrating than anything

  • when i try to paint my pictures the color ends up blocking my lines and i cant even see my picture anymore! just a big blob of color. is it because my opacity is 100% or cause im on a different layer? if it is my opacity then what percent of opacity should i be using when painting?

  • Remember! It's okay to go over the line! ^_^

  • .. wait a minute.. That's not a girl !!!

  • Can you tell me your brush presets when you apply the gray tones at the beggining?

  • That's awesome! In fact it's so awesome it's a required video for my uni course. Keep creating! Although given that I've got over 200 videos to catch up on there's no rush!

  • thanks dude u really helped me out :)

  • are u using a bambo tablet?

  • @pilha9v LOL, if you are using it as a hobby then it's legit. I have been using Intuo series since 2003 and still is. ;-)

  • @idrawgirls well we all have to start somewhere..for my first encounter with digital painting i dont think i should have just jumped to intous...

  • @idrawgirls whats wrong eith bamboo?

  • A-MA-ZING.

  • ty for the fed back

  • can a photshop sc3 do colloring like you do?

  • @fastviper19 I have CS2 - CS5 do not make much different to me for painting. Yes, it can.

  • i have watch many of your videos, they are great..but :( i still dont understand how the black line art just disappear like that.. it is because u paint 100% opacity on the black lines or erase or different layers or anything? & can you pls have your voice output a bit more louder for future videos? :) thanks

  • @fairuz1619 I just paint over it, don't worry about line too much. This is painting, not drawing. Unless you want to color in like children coloring book or comics book.

  • awsome work. all i just make groosome criter's of roting flesh

  • Hey anyway You could make a more in depth tutorial about how u do the shard er layers like with in the first 2 mins ???

  • @danjup1 i would like this too

  • @danjup1 there are some videos on my channel and I will send useful articles in your inbox.

  • This is rlly rlly kewl ur so talented ;)

  • @6flgslover Forget talent, it is practice. Everyone can do with proper training and some love. ;-)

  • Everything that you are doing in this video, is it in one layer? Are all the highlights and shadows doen in one layer?

  • @YoZangWu I could do it in one layer, I will send you some useful articles.

  • I'm just wondering, when you color, do you use a "color" layer or do you leave it on normal? I know some people use the "color" layer but I often find it very limited in color.

  • @DarkMnMChocolate I mostly use normal, but I can do either way and a lot of things. ;-)

  • Is a Wacom Bamboo tablet sufficient for this kind of Photoshop use?

  • @EmoScars17 I'd recommend Intuo series if you love drawing and painting.

  • hey could you send me the brushes?

  • Did you dreaw the outlines for the sketch in PS before colouring it?

  • @dimipage This one, yes. But either way, it doesn't matter.

  • Hey! :) When you do the shading of the sketch, you use eraser to light it up or light color?

  • @FILARs2 both

  • @FILARs2 In Photoshop the eraser uses the color of the secondary color you have selected in your palette. Down at the of your toolbar. So Theoretically you are you are using a lighter color when you are using the eraser. I hope that helped someone lol. Sorry if it sounded like I was intruding.

  • @CarsonSkyler

Hehe, not really. Eraser erase ther content of the layer, not painting it.

  • My God... It looks so easy when you do it. But bassically, it's all just layers, right?

  • Can we see the final result?! ;D

  • @coderatt Did you see the link under the video? yeah, I thought so.

  • very nice tutorial. Mind if you upload your brushes somewhere and post the link in the description?

  • @vusontrinh Check your inbox, people never read... the link is under the video on the blog.

  • hey could u tell us what brushes u use? pleeaase :)

  • @chris19915 Yes, follow the link and articles in your inbox.

  • Hey, thank you so much for the awesome tutorials :)

Was wondering if you could please send me your brushes? :D

  • Dude awesome tutorials. I'm staying up late tonight just to watch these...but I don't want to abuse your kindness but could you send me the brushes as well? Thanks!

  • @PrismaticChrome sure.

  • What version of Photoshop are you using?

  • i know this is probably annoying because you may get this a lot but would it be possible if you could send me your brushes as well?

i don't want to sound like a pest but maybe it'd be easier if you just put up the brushes you use to make it easier

i'm so subscribing to you by the way

  • @Milesarc No prob. Check your inbox.

  • @idrawgirls Can I have some too please ? Thanks.

Nice tutorial ! Thank you it will help me a lot =)

  • i was wondering where are you from i don't reconize your accent

  • @RobbyC738 If it will make you a better artist then, I will tell you. So irrelevant. ;-)

  • You are great man, what brushes are you using??? if you dont mind me asking

  • @Kaos0111992 Custom brushes. ;-)

  • The way you colored was amazing! I'm totally in shock. Awesome job! You made the helmet look so real. Do you think you could send me your brushes?

    Thanks. :'D

  • @SoulNote77 Thanks, but focus on value first, color can be deceiving. Sure

  • Simply amazing....I am in awe. What brushes are you using and where can i get them.

  • @SwatDawgg check your inbox

  • Hey, could you tell me if there is any difference in quality between painting it like this or painting it all in grey tones and then coloring?

also, how do you make the tone changes to make it look natural? like the change between the light reflex in the helmet and the darker parts of the helmet. :)

  • @JosePablo24 No different if you know what you are doing. Easier to start of with grey that's about it.

  • dude great art, u have there :) can i have the custom brushes as well. thx

  • @oscarface94o sure thing, check your inbox.

  • Holy F!!!!! at 2:25 were all those custom brushes!!???

  • @ThePimpShizz Yes, I will send you link. Check your inbox.

  • @idrawgirls send for me plzzzzz *o*

  • @Vegnagun96 OK ;-)

  • @idrawgirls these are amazing, truley insperational. do you paint under the origional sketch or on top of it? also would it be possible to get those brushes also :)

  • @456bigben456 Both.

  • Thats not a girl!

  • @sejko Yes, she is in the cockpit inside it.

  • hi, great video, i was wondering, what is the hot brush and all the different brushes you use to get the different levels in the coloring?

  • @GamersaurusPwn Who? Check your inbox.

  • well thats a.... I couldnt say anything about this.

  • im new to drawing with tablets on the computer, would you be able to send me some simple drawings for me to imitate and learn how you have done them? Thank you, nice vid as always!!

  • @FOOLishWARfare Check my website or blog then you will see more... simple as that. It said on the video.

  • @daniale58 I can send you some useful articles. Check your inbox. ;-)

  • I like this but too fast...!

  • Really nice work and nice tutorial, but i have a question (quite a dumb one i feel) you keep mentioning the values, what are you on about when you say this? (Am just getting started with digital drawing / painting so need as much help as i can get! :P )

  • @lovelyhannah90 Light and shadow.

  • Thank you for this video!

  • @TheHaystack No problem.

  • Could you possible make a tutorial like this and show what brush presets you use? I'm having trouble trying to follow this without knowing what brushes to use :P

  • hello.. hmm i just start drawing in photoshop two days ago,, and i have questions about the layer stuff when u make the drawing.. so how many layer did u use to make a drawing?

  • @blackwhiteaki You can use as many as you want. I only use a few then merge.

  • @idrawgirls soo that mean i can only use one layer then can make something like u did ?

  • @blackwhiteaki I can, you can try. ;-)

  • @idrawgirls your vids really save me !!

  • I don't really get it;

you're sketch where you begin with looks made traditional, but to get that on the computer, you need to scan it right? And if I scan my sketches, I always ALSO get the white-ish background of the paper where it's drawn on, but you don't seem to have it. And when I try to delete the paper-background, it always leaves some white-ish pixels behind resulting in horror for me. How do you get the paper background of the scan gone? Or how do you draw the very sketch?

  • @Jilliart make your scan sketch to 'OVERLAY' mode then paint under and over.

  • your tutorials are great! The best there is! It's helped me alot, but I still struggle using the tablet... =/

  • @imsugoi thanks. Practice..you are probably new to it.

  • i would like to know how you reverse your image in photoshop?

  • @SSbm88 Find "Flip"

  • @SSbm88 Go to edit> transform> flip horizontal.

  • where do you get all the brushes you have?

  • @AjarJunkman I made some, stole some and was given some.

  • You are best sketcher ever, how do you do it?

  • @EdibleOstriche I only wish, just practice, practice and practice. ;-)

  • Hey man, i just like to question something... do you use the mouse or do you have the digital tablet ?

  • @knightofholyorder Mouse is not made for drawing, I'd rather use pencil or brushes. TABLET!

  • You are SO CUTE! And fobby. It's adorable.

  • i just tried colouring a sjkecth i done, whenever i tried to add colour/shading it didnt blend together with the other colours, it just made a solid line going round instead of a gradual shade/colour? :S

  • @bulkup7 Just send you some articles, check your pm. peace!

  • few things, what do you mean find the value? and also is there a setting so it sticks to the lines kinda? as some of your curved lines were spot on.

  • @ThrashMetal290 @chickenmanokout You are welcome. ;-)

  • damn!!!

    I really liked your style!!

    subbed

    and

    faved

    and Liked!

  • I've drawn a slightly different more cartoony version of this drawing, im going to add more detail to it, but if i was going to edit it on photoshop would i have to go over it in ballpoint pen first? Because at the moment it is only in pencil.

Thankyou for all your videos by the way, they help alot when it comes to learning some cool shading skills on photoshop, and your drawings help me come up with new ideas!^_^

  • what type of photoshop do u use? cs3, cs4, cs5?

  • @JackiePhantom13 It doesn't matter, they can all do the same job for painting.

  • y din show the layer?or some tool inside PS, i think it also help if u really do some turtorial...

  • @anthonygan87 check your msg ;-)

  • how you do this 1:36 put the right on the left and viceversa?¿

  • @anonimons2008 Flip your canvas.

  • When you say drawing from real life, what do you mean? For instance, the titan in this pic obviously cant be found in real life, so how do you use live reference to help? Im highly interested!

  • @potaterjim Practice by going to life drawing class that's what I mean. Then you can draw figures from imagination better.

  • how do u do zomming the brush i mean the size of the brush pliiz

  • @MultiOuahib [ and ]

  • @idrawgirls what !!

Study study study draw draw draw read read read, draw draw draw draw draw draw more study draw draw draw draw draw draw more reading draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw draw. most of your life time must be spent by actual drawing :)

  • paintbrush or layers on multiply?

  • did you draw on the computer or did you scan it on the computer

  • Wow really, really amazing work! <3

  • this picture is being used in a czech computer card game right?

  • srry to bother you but I have a big problem with my attempts at using photoshop. How do you select multiple shades of the same color to create the illusion of light / shadow ? for example on the dude's mask, you have several shades of gold (brown-ish yellow) ... how do you accurately select those colors without them looking off ?

  • What are your brush settings i.e. Flow, Opacity? I've tried digital painting in PS, but I just can't pull it off as effectively as you.

  • This is so much simpler and takes a lot less time, highlights and everything is easier, thanks yo.

  • Wait so everytime he's using a different color he is using another layer ?

  • WHAT IS THAT EPIC SONG?! @idrawgirls !

  • are you using mouse??

  • damn ur good!!! >.< wanna learn how to do that!!!!! :( and lol yeah i like ff too xD its awesome

  • @JiraiyaXxD There is a way to set it up under the actions window alt+F9. From there you create a new action...name it to your liking, select a function key, press the record button. While recording, the next action executed will record to your new action. Go to Edit>transform>flip horizontal. Then press stop record button on actions palette to complete hot key. You can do the same to vertical flip. Start making hot keys to make your life easier! -H18

  • are you human ? that's amazing and look so easy

  • HOW THE HELL DO YOU MAKE THAT LOOK SO EASY?! D:

  • 3:56 You can hear his CAT!! Great drawings, I want to become a concept artist for the game design industry. I was always taught traditional pencil and paper drawing, but I have to learn how to draw/color in photoshop, and this inspires me.

  • amazing

  • i disagree with the opposers, you did a very nice tutorial, if you have never used photoshop, this probably doesnt help much, but for an amateur user, this is perfect. great job man

  • Your videos remind me how much I still have to learn and I've been drawing since I was five years old. Thanks for the reality check...

  • PLEASEE MANN PLEASEE make a tutorial where we could see step by step ( slowly) how did you make this beautiful image, please this is my pasion, im learning english because of this, some day i would like to be the best comic book artist, and the best with photoshop at painting draws!

  • @elDreDas btw, if you go on his website, you can by his real-time indepth tutorials. I did, I and haven't regret it. I bought almost them all and they all have some goodies.

  • @elDreDas The best place to start is art books that show how to draw people and animals from the skeleton up. Then go get some manga and comic book books to help you with style. These tutorials are brill, but most are far to fast to soak in! Hope that helps!

  • @elDreDas being the best is a stupid goal. there is no "best" when it comes to art because there are soo many different style and the best to some people may not be the best to others. as for the tutorial thing your not going to get better just by looking at one tutorial. art takes years of practice to get good the masters have been drawing and painting for a long time start by practicing basic shapes or drawing from life learn how to draw anatomy then go from there.

  • @elDreDas it'll probably take hours if he does it slowly.

  • @elDreDas There are slow step by step tutorials, check out his blog there are heaps of them for a small fee. And as for how he makes these beautiful images as the guy below me says draw and draw some more.

Thats really the only way to get better, Xia didnt just wake up one day and start creating this stuff out of nowhere, this level of art takes years of practice and practice is the only way any of us will improve.

  • @elDreDas There are step by step images you can take a look if you click on the link under the video. They will help.

  • what photoshop tools did you use? i have the cs4, im using the paintbrush (brush) but i just CANT get the effects you make, im playing with the *mode*, *% of px*, and nothing, i am doing something far away from your work, are you using any speacial feauture or something? please answer me this is my pasion, im learning english because of this

  • how do you do to make the shadows tones? what tools do you use i dont understand very much cause my english is not native

  • what buttons did you use in 1:19 when the table appears? im new in photoshop and my english sucks so imaginate how do i feel

  • I CANT HEAR CAUSE MY HEARS DOSNT WORK, PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO TELLING US HOW DID YOU DO ALL THAT STUFF.

I DONT SEE WHAT TOOLS DID YOU USE IM LOST!

  • this is kind of random but what do you use to record this on your PC

  • Your great. I want to do that, but it had me thinking that you had to have the eye for coloring and shading (meaning an artistic talent) before I can do that... but I don't. I'll fave it anyhow for future reference.

  • @MovieLovin You can develop your eye. Dont give up. Some people learn faster than others. I didn't think I had an eye either, but by practicing you can develop one.

  • thanks I faved it but I can't understand what you are doing XD but I am wishing that I could do that (I can never do anything like that)

  • I don't get how you were able to paint under the drawing. The way i have my space/layers, the drawing is always the bottom layer, and the paint eventually overpowers the line work. I know you said you cut the original into pieces. Can you explain how you set up your work area?

  • something happend to my PS. What ever color i choose its black and white... it wont color any colors at all. anyone know how to reset it back?

  • @94Gregers

You might have your image in gray scale mode. Look at the top near the name of the file it tells you which mode you are in (RGB, INDEX, GREY, CMYK). You if you want color you want it in RGB. On the menu choose IMAGE>MODE>RGB.

Or when you create a new image make sure it says RGB in your color mode

  • @94Gregers

Check you color mode. Make sure its not in grey scale. Look under: Image>mode>

  • Comment removed

  • great video thanks

  • Ball point pen....You are my god!

  • WHAT!? I WANT TO SEE THE REST!!

  • @gigadule That's the point. When he says his drawings are pretty rough, I doubt he went into much more detail. Personally, now that I draw much more, that is what I appreciate. He gives you the big idea, gives detail on the main part and lets your brain imagine. I used to draw EVERY SINGLE detail on my drawings, now I realised, they look too flat, and nothing on the drawing would stand out ;)

  • Whats that HORRIBLE music in the background???!

    Oh, and nice drawing, btw.

  • yeah tell us what colors make the medal look like metal
